Chapter 120: Chapter 91: The Comic Con Incident: Cousin’s Dimensional Suppression [6,200 Words!]

Is this person in front of me Lu Xiaolan?

The best friend Lu Xiaolan who only wore colorless lip balm for three years in high school, who didn’t know what BB cream was, and who didn’t even bother to cover her two huge dark circles from staying up all night studying before the college entrance exam?!

But the person right here... Xu Liya just wanted to say... What the heck!

The impact is even stronger than checking the college entrance exam scores.

Lu Xiaolan’s water-blue Zhen Ji dress is the one Xu Liya made two years ago. Naturally, the materials wouldn’t be that good, but under the dim lighting of the underground parking lot, it surprisingly looked quite textured.

But that’s not the main point! The main point is that face!

Xu Liya widened her eyes and leaned in to look at Lu Xiaolan.

Too unbelievable! The base makeup is as clean as a freshly peeled boiled egg, evenly resting on her face. Forget about cakiness; even the pores seem to have been airbrushed.

The eye makeup is even more astounding— the deep brown eyeliner is as smooth as Dove chocolate, the slightly reddish hue at the tail is applied perfectly, and near the inner eye corner of the lower lid, there’s a delicate sparkle strategically placed, making her eyes glimmer when she blinks.

Her usually ”clear yet foolish” round eyes now bore a classical beauty’s melancholy.

The shadows on the sides of the nose were naturally and three-dimensionally applied, the transition below the cheekbones was so soft... the entire face’s light and shadows were as harmonious as if lit by professional studio lighting, clean, neat, and flawless!

But what about me?

Thinking about this, Xu Liya felt a bit melancholic.

This morning... I even secretly used my mom’s supposedly expensive foundation, spent two hours following a tutorial on Bilibili to get this makeup done! Eyeliner was drawn and wiped, drawn and wiped again. At the time, I thought it looked good, but now in comparison, I feel it barely looks presentable.

What’s more heart-wrenching... Xu Liya feels her nose and forehead are starting to become cakey, and the eyeliner seems to be smudging...

”Xiaolan...” Xu Liya’s tone was very complex, ”You... what’s going on with your face?”

Lu Xiaolan’s meticulously highlighted, ridiculously beautiful face displayed an expression that Xu Liya was familiar with... mixed with a bit of confusion and bewilderment.

Her eyes were full of perplexity, and she subconsciously wanted to touch her face but feared messing up her makeup.

Lu Xiaolan instinctively glanced at her cousin. Is this makeup really that well done...

Li Younan maintained his carefree expression, finding everything amusing.

Lu Xiaolan pointed at Li Younan and said, ”Just... after you left, Brother Li helped me out.”

Li Younan chuckled, ”Just messed around a bit, didn’t delay you guys, right?”

Just! Messed! Around! A! Bit?!

Xu Liya looked at the not-very-expensive makeup bag, then turned to see Lu Xiaolan’s face that seemed to carry a soft-focus filter, forcing out only a smile: ”Pretty... pretty good...”

No way... Why can Lu Xiaolan’s cousin do makeup?

And! Do it! So! Well!

Noticing Xu Liya’s glance, Li Younan casually said, ”Guys have a stronger sense of light and shadow, and their hands tend to be steadier. When I was in a relationship before, I learned by casually trying a few things on my ex-girlfriend’s face.”

Li Younan said shamelessly, spouting nonsense.

But Xu Liya didn’t doubt for a second, merely sighed dumbfoundedly: ”Is this talent?”

She believed it, she really did!

...

Because Li Younan agreed to help them take some photos, he took out a camera bag from the trunk.

Xu Liya introduced her two friends to Li Younan and Lu Xiaolan.

One of them was a very short girl, probably about 1.48 meters, less than 1.5 meters, cosplaying as Annie, although Li Younan initially thought she was cosplaying Little Red Riding Hood, which caused the little girl to angrily point at her plush bear toy.

Li Younan blinked to understand.

The character really suited her height.

The other one was a guy, with long bangs covering one eye. His outfit and makeup didn’t click for Li Younan, so he couldn’t figure out what he was cosplaying as.

The guy explained himself, but it was like saying nothing; Li Younan still had no clue, apparently some character from a game.

Li Younan didn’t know much about cosplay, but he didn’t have any ill intentions either.

He even found it somewhat intriguing.

Every community has some negative aspects, but you can’t deny that some people simply love it, and for a community to form, the majority must be passionate.

Xu Liya led Li Younan and Lu Xiaolan toward the exhibition hall. The International Exhibition Center is quite large, requiring quite a long walk.

Xu Liya leaned beside Li Younan and asked, ”Brother Li, have you ever been involved in cosplay?”

Li Younan chuckled, ”Back when I was a freshman, I had some cosplay friends, and even some older class sisters. But back then, they mostly cosplayed characters from anime, and generally popular ones, like Cardcaptor Sakura or One Piece—mostly characters I’ve seen.”

The guy with long bangs chuckled softly, ”Who still cosplays those old antiques now?”

Li Younan looked at him with interest and said, ”Isn’t the spirit of cosplay about playing and showcasing characters you love from anime? Liking current anime characters... makes it more impressive?”

Li Younan’s calm inquiry stunned the young man, who then fell silent.
