Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 143: Chapter 96: Homestay Sets Sail: Riverside Courtyard [13,000 Words!] (4)

Li Younan set the pot on the stove and in no time, he stir-fried a simple dish of shredded potatoes.

Ren Xiaohuan: ”...”

Indeed, he was much faster than Ren Xiaohuan.

After finishing the dish, Li Younan casually picked up the cloth next to him, which was used for cleaning the table, and wiped his hands. He asked casually, ”Has it always been you cooking at home?”

Ren Xiaohuan nodded: ”Yes.”

”I heard some things about your family from Grandma. Oh, so you’re staying at home all the time now?”

Ren Xiaohuan bowed her head, hesitantly saying, ”I have to. My mom here... I can’t be away for long; she has difficulty going to the restroom.”

Li Younan nodded silently and then casually asked about Dou Dou, like how he was doing at school, whether anyone was bullying him, and so on.

Ren Xiaohuan followed up with an explanation of Li Younan’s questions.

Suddenly, Li Younan changed the topic: ”So now you’re staying at home all the time, and your only source of income is your uncle?”

Ren Xiaohuan was a bit startled, not understanding why Li Younan asked this, but still answered honestly, ”Yes, dad sends us money regularly while working outside, and the village takes good care of us. We’re not short of money.”

Li Younan nodded, put down the cloth, and again wiped the moisture off on his already not-so-clean pants, saying, ”How about I find you something to do?”

Ren Xiaohuan was taken aback and looked up, ”Huh? What?”

Li Younan smiled: ”I’ll find you something to do, and I’ll pay you. How about 100 yuan a day? Or another option, uh, commission-based, so maybe you can earn a bit more.”

Ren Xiaohuan certainly didn’t understand what Li Younan was talking about, and moreover, the amount seemed too much. If it was 100 yuan a day, that would be 3,000 yuan a month, much more than what dad sends each month.

Ren Xiaohuan wore a puzzled, bewildered expression mixed with a hint of shock, which looked inexplicably cute.

Li Younan continued: ”You see, I’ve spruced up my grandparents’ house over this time; it looks pretty nice now.”

”Those rooms, you’ve helped clean them before. Each one is decorated according to hotel standards, with en-suite bathrooms.”

”Well, I’m planning to take guests, like a homestay sort of thing.”

”My grandparents are quite old, so they don’t understand these things well. Just as well, I need someone to help me manage it.”

”You live nearby my grandparents, so you could spend a little time each day tidying up the rooms, changing sheets, tossing them into the washing machine to dry. There are only three rooms, so the workload isn’t heavy. Then there’s arranging guest check-in... that’s about the job scope.”

Li Younan took out his phone, smiled again, and asked, ”Do you usually play on short video platforms?”

Though the conditions weren’t great, this was the era of widespread smartphones. Ren Xiaohuan certainly had one, so she nodded.

Li Younan showed his video platform profile and said, ”I’m a small streamer. After this opens, probably quite a few people will want to come over.”

”The open space behind my grandparents’ house will be turned into a camping area.”

”Staying one night at the homestay, everything is available—parking, Wi-Fi, all convenient, the business... shouldn’t be bad.”

”Grandma and Grandpa actually like lively places. I’ve talked to them about this before, and they’re happy and willing to host those guests. It’s just that they’re older and don’t understand phones or electronic payments.”

After a pause, Li Younan looked earnestly and sincerely at Ren Xiaohuan: ”If you could help out, Grandma and Grandpa would be very happy. How about that?”

Ren Xiaohuan was stunned, her head spinning from the shock of the news.

Could something so good really fall from the sky like this? How could such a perfect job exist, tailor-made just for her?

Though she hadn’t studied much, her grades weren’t bad, and she was quick to learn new things. Learning about payments and online orders shouldn’t take long.

As for cleaning, how long could it take to tidy up three rooms?

More importantly, the job was just dozens of meters away from home, so she could handle everything...

Li Younan smiled: ”If you agree, once the backyard space is ready, we’ll do a trial run. When that time comes, you can come over, and we’ll learn together. Oh, I’ve never run a homestay before either, haha, so let’s leave it at that, I’ll call on you later—after all, you’re always at home.”

Having said that, Li Younan strolled away leisurely. At that moment, he was in a fantastic mood.

Just as he reached the door, a dog suddenly leaped up fiercely, and though restrained by a leash, it almost made Li Younan flip in surprise.

Ren Xiaohuan initially looked a bit blank, but was first startled, then couldn’t help but let a faint smile surface.

She began to look forward to how the old house of Li Younan’s grandparents would eventually turn out.

...

Lately, Li Younan often receives invitations from some MCN agencies.

Such as, ”Join our agency, we can offer you great business collaboration opportunities, we have fixed partnerships with many brands.”

Li Younan always directly ignores such private messages.

For one thing, he can’t tie himself to other companies and become someone else’s money-making tool.
