Chapter 140: Chapter 96: Riverside Guesthouse Sets Sail [13,000 Words!]

(Look at the word count, votes, understand?)

When Li Younan took his mom and Lu Xiaolan back to Anchuan County, it was already dark.

Summer days are naturally longer, and it didn’t get dark until eight or nine o’clock. After heading out in the morning and coming back in the evening, spending a whole day playing, everyone was very tired.

Lu Xiaolan was sprawled out in the backseat, snoring loudly as she slept soundly, her snores lightly echoing through the quiet car.

Although his mom was also a bit exhausted, she wasn’t asleep. She sat quietly in the front passenger seat, gazing silently at the road ahead.

Li Younan had one hand casually on the steering wheel and the other habitually resting on the edge of the car window, gently tapping with two fingers, looking very at ease.

There were very few cars heading to Anchuan County at this time, especially once they got onto the branch highway, there weren’t even any big trucks, making the drive quite easy.

Li Younan smiled and said to his mom, ”Mom, why don’t you take a nap?”

His mom didn’t respond, her gaze wandering over the road outside the car window.

After a while, his mom suddenly said earnestly, ”You really seem to have grown up.”

Li Younan chuckled, ”Hasn’t that been the case for a while now?”

His mom shook her head, ”It’s different. Do you consider turning 18 as grown up, or starting to work? It’s neither. Growing up is a feeling, do you understand? It’s like how I used to feel you were a little boy who needed to be protected, from when you were this small.”

She gestured a size with her hands and couldn’t help but laugh, looking up, ”Suddenly you became someone people could rely on.”

Li Younan was momentarily stunned, then shook his head lightly with a carefree smile on his face; it’s nice to have his mom think of him this way.

After a brief day of rest, it was Monday again.

His mom went to work, and Li Younan took Lu Xiaolan to his grandparents’ house again.

Even just over a day without livestreaming, the group chat exploded with people clamoring, ”Why hasn’t the streamer started the livestream?”

When Li Younan turned on the livestream again, several hundred people flooded in immediately, and someone even sent him a super gift worth 2000 RMB.

It’s worth mentioning that every day just by livestreaming, many people send him gifts, and he can earn a few hundred yuan a day just from these tips. Although it doesn’t seem like much, it amounts to over ten thousand a month, which is an unexpected income.

Every time he’s on camera, Li Younan advises students not to send gifts. Besides, for every person who sends a gift, he earnestly reads out their name to express his gratitude.

Brother Long is quite pleased with the profile of his fans.

Ever since Brother Long took over managing Li Younan’s affairs, he’s been diligently studying the related data.

Brother Long says that of the fan profiles of Li Younan, at least 60% are from big city white-collar workers, and a small portion consists of students who yearn for poetry and freedom.

This fan profile has a noticeable characteristic: strong spending power.

This helps explain why these people like to follow Li Younan.

Stuck in a cubicle yet still longing to see the world, unable to go themselves, they find a somewhat good-looking guy who goes out acting cool all over the world... Yes, that guy has acted cool in videos several times, creating an immersive experience for the viewers.

Of course, that’s analyzing from a male perspective. If it’s about why females like Li Younan, it’s simpler—they find him handsome.

This fan profile gives strong leverage with businesses.

Brother Long also schooled Li Younan on some industry facts: In this line of work, it’s not the sheer number of fans but the video interactions and fans’ spending capabilities that are crucial.

Besides, vertical segment streamers have more valuable fans. For example, beauty and tech bloggers have the highest ad rates per post.

Li Younan is considered a generalist type streamer, which usually has less leverage than vertical segment streamers, but with the help of a solid fan profile, Brother Long did manage to snag a few high-quality business deals.

However, those business deals are still in the making because they’re mostly hotel promotions, requiring visits to the corresponding cities to film the videos.

Brother Long proudly said to Li Younan, ”You not only get to stay in hotels for free, but you also get paid. Feels good, right?”

Li Younan, however, expressed some concern, ”I’m just worried that my experience staying there might be different from what my fans would experience.”

Brother Long replied after a while, ”You’re quite thoughtful about your fans, but it shouldn’t be the case. The hotels I’ve found for you are all five-star ones. Generally, their service standard is pretty uniform.”

Time quickly moved to mid-August, and the renovation at his grandpa’s house was nearing completion.

The inside and outside of the living quarters and main hall had been upgraded, and the few vegetable plots in the yard had been redone to look nicer.

The original concrete yard, where the cracked and potholed cement had been flattened and covered with stone slabs, not only became smoother but also improved drainage.

Now there was only the small slope in the backyard left; to be precise, it’s no longer a slope now.

Li Younan transformed it into a leisurely riverside courtyard for fishing, camping, and relaxation.

The area wasn’t small, with some flowers, plants, and fruit trees planted.

A large stone that had been dug out before was polished into a big stone table.

In summer, you can set up a sunshade or an awning, have a barbecue, go fishing, and even sing songs at night if you want.
