Leisurely Traveler with Check-in System

Chapter 103: Chapter 87: Finally Acquired Skill: Highway Scale!

The guy asked again, ”I saw you fiddling with a guitar just now, do you know how to play?”

It wasn’t hard to tell. Earlier in the afternoon, Li Younan was checking out the instruments, and now he was grooving along with the music.

Li Younan blinked and said, ”Just a little bit...”

The guy immediately wanted to pull Li Younan on stage, saying, ”We happen to be short of two parts, and we have extra guitars. Come play with us!”

Li Younan blinked: ”Uh, this...”

At this moment, the drummer uncle looked over, having heard their conversation, and laughed heartily:

”We’re all friends here. Come join us and have some fun!”

Li Younan was stunned for a moment and looked at his watch: ”Well... alright then.”

He went on stage, and the lead singer lady handed her guitar to Li Younan.

Li Younan didn’t take it; instead, he looked at the keyboard next to him.

They had a keyboard player.

But the keyboard player always arrived late. As the guitar guy said, ”The guy’s a genius, so he can be a bit lazy... Besides, we can’t even read staff notation, so we need to practice in advance.”

Li Younan pointed to the keyboard, saying, ”How about I play this? I’m more skilled at this.”

The group exchanged glances, looking slightly surprised.

The keyboard’s the hardest thing in the band.

”You know how to play this?”

”Not really...” Li Younan pressed two keys and smiled, ”I play the piano, so I can play it like a piano.”

”Oh... piano works too.”

After that comment, they started playing.

Li Younan wasn’t in a hurry to join in. At his level, he could improvise at any time. It wasn’t until several seconds later that Li Younan started to blend his part into the accompaniment little by little.

Initially, everyone was a bit cautious, but by the middle and end of the song, they were very much in sync. The lead singer got into her groove, singing jazz, moving her body almost involuntarily as she sang, her voice cool and lazy. By the time the song ended, everyone still wanted more.

The lead singer came over, seriously studying Li Younan’s handsome face; he still had that calm and composed expression: ”Hey there, handsome, did you major in piano?”

Li Younan smiled and casually played a few jazz notes on the keyboard, ”Just a hobby...”

”You can play that well just as a hobby?” the drummer uncle said, ”Why not join us as our keyboardist? You didn’t even practice once, and you fit in so well. Your level is already very professional!”

Li Younan blinked, noticing someone came over from the audience... Was it the keyboard player?

Li Younan smiled, ”That wouldn’t be appropriate... You already have a keyboardist...”

The uncle shrugged it off, ”That guy’s too laid-back, been wanting to replace him for a while now.”

Everyone started laughing.

Li Younan guessed correctly; the guy who just arrived was indeed the keyboard player.

When he heard that, his expression looked like the sky was falling: ”Huh?”

Everyone turned around together, slightly stunned.

The drummer uncle coughed: ”Just joking... haha... Why didn’t you show up late today, kid?”

...

Of course, it was a joke. The keyboard player was the uncle’s brother-in-law, and hearing such a joke wouldn’t naturally ruin their relationship. Li Younan even thought it might have been intentional to give them a little push.

When Jing Chaoyi found Li Younan, he was no longer goofing off in the bar. It had been a while since he’d seen Jing Chaoyi, and she seemed even prettier. The two of them found a restaurant near Huangxing Road for dinner.

The night on Huangxing Road was like a bowl of warm rice noodles, steaming hot, yet not in a hurry to be eaten.

According to Jing Chaoyi, the place would still be crowded at midnight. Can you believe that?

Even Li Younan was a bit taken aback when he heard this.

Li Younan and Jing Chaoyi wandered aimlessly through the crowd.

Jing Chaoyi chatted away about everything related to Changsha. They strolled casually, occasionally stopping at a stall, occasionally sitting at a drink stand.

After eleven, the crowd seemed even thicker.

As they walked past a street corner, a singer holding a guitar sat on a small stool, singing softly into his phone’s screen.

The voice wasn’t loud, drowned out by the noise. Only when you got close could you hear a few lines of the melody.

Li Younan glanced at the time; it was close to midnight. He originally planned to find the guy from the bar to complete his check-in task, but it seemed unnecessary now.

As soon as the check-in time came, Li Younan pointed his camera at the singer, lightly tapped his screen, and recorded a few seconds of the singing.

Heading towards the south gate, the crowd thinned a bit. The air smelled more strongly of spicy crayfish and the sweet greasiness of sugar oil cakes.

Some carts started packing up, their metal pans clinking.

Li Younan took out his phone again, quickly snapping a shot of a pot of freshly fried noodles, shining with oil and wafting fragrance, completing the check-in task for the soy sauce fried noodles stall.

The vendor didn’t lift his head, engrossed in stirring with his spoon.

Jing Chaoyi, unaware of these tasks, simply kept walking, with Li Younan half a step behind, watching her ponytail sway gently with her steps, feeling something he couldn’t quite explain.

She seemed to have no intention of heading back, didn’t check the time, showed no sign of tiredness or impatience.

This quiet and enduring companionship was a bit unexpected.

Suddenly, there was a short, crisp ”click! click!”

The sound broke the stillness, a few steps away.

A young guy in a ride-sharing uniform was deftly folding his compact electric bike, his movements skilled.

The metallic joints clicked distinctly in the quiet corner of the early morning street.

Almost by instinct, as Li Younan’s ears caught the sound, his fingers touched a specific icon on his screen, completing the task of hearing the click of the ride-share guy folding his bike.

A system notification sounded, indicating task completion.

The guy had tucked his folded bike into his trunk, a black sedan parked by the road turned on its lights, and quickly joined the traffic.

He put away his phone and let out a long breath.

Li Younan turned to Jing Chaoyi, ”You must be tired today, right? Flying here and walking so much...”

Jing Chaoyi blinked, letting out a small yawn, two sleepy tears forming at the corner of her eyes. She giggled a bit cutely: ”A little bit, but I can still stroll with you for a bit more... What should we do tomorrow?”

Li Younan smiled, ”Anything’s fine. You’re the guide, you decide. But for today let’s call it a night and get some rest...”

The two turned in sync, heading towards the subway station.

Walking side by side, their shadows stretched long behind them.

At that moment, Li Younan didn’t feel as calm as he appeared.

Because after completing the tasks, he received a random skill boost...

[Random Skill...]

[Highway Driving Skill +1]

[Highway Driving lv.1: Anticipate risks 200 meters ahead in blind curves on rainy nights, and control the throttle with millimeter precision to glide a 2-ton vehicle across icy roads smoothly!]’

Since there’s highway driving, there might also be corresponding off-road driving...

It’s surprising that it doesn’t encompass all driving skills!

But all in all, Li Younan was quite satisfied.

Damn, after running around for so long, he finally got this skill. It was a tear-jerking moment.

Jing Chaoyi somehow sensed the subtle emotion in Li Younan, suddenly lowered her head, and chuckled lightly: ”Hey senior, are you happy today?”

Li Younan was taken aback for a moment: ”Hm...”

Jing Chaoyi looked up and smiled: ”Me too.”

”Tomorrow... how about coming to my place to hang out?”

Li Younan blinked, ”Uh... sure.”

On the early morning of Huangxing Road, the lights remained, the hustle and bustle receding a bit, leaving behind the exhaustion of light and the warmth of voices.
