Chapter 125: Chapter 92: 100,000-Follower Streamer’s Countryside Renovation Project! (6,000 Words!)_2

Over there, after receiving these photos, Jing Chaoyi asked curiously, ”Who are these two girls?”

Li Younan didn’t mention Xu Liya’s specific identity, just vaguely said she was his sister, who just finished the college entrance examination.

Hearing that it was his sister, Jing Chaoyi immediately got excited and confidently sent a message: ”Oh, so she’s family, then I’ll definitely work hard and edit the pictures beautifully, to bring a nice end to your sister’s hard day!”

Li Younan replied, ”Thank you for your hard work.”

After saying that, he closed his computer and went out.

At this moment, mom and Lu Xiaolan suddenly started talking about part-time jobs.

Mom said, ”How about this, you can come to our bank, I’ll talk to the manager and see if you can be a customer manager at the front desk.”

One thing to note here is that some bank customer managers are official employees, but there are also some who are temporary dispatch workers, with treatment not much better than security guards, mainly doing simple things like guiding people unfamiliar with modern business and procedures in filling out forms and using ATMs.

And the rural commercial bank where mom works is the latter.

Lu Xiaolan was a bit socially anxious, hesitated, and said, ”Is there anything else I can do?”

Mom thought for a moment, her eyes suddenly lit up, and said, ”Oh right, our office building is still missing a bathroom cleaner!”

”Huh?” Lu Xiaolan was stunned, her mouth couldn’t help but twitch slightly.

”Just kidding! Did you believe it?” Mom laughed, covering her mouth.

Lu Xiaolan pouted, ”Auntie!”

Li Younan also burst out laughing, slowly walked over, sat down beside them, and suddenly said, ”You’re looking for a summer job, right?” He rubbed his chin, ”Why don’t you work with me, Xiaolan?”

Mom looked at Li Younan with confusion.

Lu Xiaolan seemed to get excited immediately and asked, ”Cousin, what do you want me to do?”

Li Younan smiled slightly and said two words, ”Move bricks!”

Lu Xiaolan’s expression was even more bewildered, ”Huh?”

...

Of course, Li Younan couldn’t really let Lu Xiaolan move bricks.

But some moderate labor is still involved. Li Younan plans to take Lu Xiaolan along during the old house renovation to help with some work.

Although Lu Xiaolan is a girl, she can do quite a few things.

The first day’s primary task was to shoot a video, carefully capturing how grandparents’ house looks at the moment.

This is very important because only when the old house renovation is complete will the comparison be most satisfying.

To ensure image clarity, Li Younan directly used a camera to record.

He first circled around the grandparents’ house, capturing the general environment. Since he didn’t buy audio equipment, Li Younan didn’t plan on narrating and intended to write a script afterward and have Brother Long do the voice-over later.

Then, Li Younan walked into his grandparents’ house.

What came into view was a large yard with a chicken coop, several small vegetable plots, and a large cement area in the middle.

Grandparents occasionally sun some grains or vegetables on it.

Facing the main door were two independent old houses.

One was the main hall, serving as both a kitchen and living room while also used for smoking bacon.

The other house was a living area, with several rooms inside where grandparents lived, and some sundries were also piled here.

Upstairs was a simple loft storing some farming tools, accessible via a wooden ladder.

At the back side of the yard was a small door, leading to the slope connected to the Baishui River.

Li Younan leisurely walked to the chicken coop, where there was a dry toilet. A strong smell came over him as he opened the door, taking a shot of it too.

Lu Xiaolan curiously watched Li Younan doing all these things.

When Li Younan finally put away the camera, she asked, ”Cousin, why are you filming all these?”

Li Younan said, ”Of course, to make a video, you’ll understand more later.”

By this time, Lu Xiaolan was already eager and excited, ”Then cousin, what will we do today?”

Li Younan smiled slightly, ”Today, there’s no rush at least for now.”

After all, strictly speaking, Li Younan’s grandparents and Lu Xiaolan have no blood relation, so Lu Xiaolan still felt a bit reserved when facing them.

However, grandma kindly inquired, ”Girl, you’re Nannan’s cousin, right? Nannan often talks about you in front of me.”

People in the countryside value the bonds brought by blood relations, so grandma was very warm toward Lu Xiaolan. After noon, Lu Xiaolan was already feeling comfortable chatting with her.

Grandpa was sitting on the threshold of the main hall door, lighting up a dry pipe, taking a few puffs.

Li Younan went over and told Grandpa the plan for the upcoming work: ”Today, I’ll call a small excavator to level out that slope behind.”

Grandpa’s face showed a smile of mixed feelings, including a bit of helplessness, some relief, and a lot more of a ”whatever, let’s see what you’ll do” kind of relaxed attitude, saying, ”Grandpa and Grandma are already half-buried in the earth, spending money like this is really unnecessary...”

Li Younan said, ”Grandpa, you and Grandma have worked hard for most of your lives, I think I’ve grown up now, and I want to make things a bit more comfortable for you. When you’re living comfortably, I’m happy in my heart.”

Grandpa set the pipe down, gently tapped it on the stone slab in front of him to knock out the ash, leisurely rolled up the pipe, and put it away, ”Alright, alright, you do whatever you think is best, just don’t wear yourself out.”
