Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1645: Chapter 813: Shared Feelings (First Update)_2

”Hmm.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”If there really are other opportunities for collaboration, I’d quite like to work with him on another film.”

After the conversation, Zhou Lan said, ”You should have a shoot this afternoon, right? I’ll take you there first.”

Zhou Yun: ”What about you, Sister Lan?”

”I need to make a trip to Sydney,” Zhou Lan said, ”I’ve arranged to meet someone to discuss matters.”

”When are you coming back?”

”Probably in two days, I haven’t bought the ticket yet, but that’s the estimate,” Zhou Lan said, ”You won’t be back for the New Year this year, have you discussed with Song Chi how to celebrate it?”

”We haven’t talked about it yet, but we might have to spend it apart.”

”It’s always so much time apart, it’s tough for you two.”

Zhou Yun: ”It’s much better than before. At least now, the filming schedule isn’t as hectic. The shooting of ’Killing Song’ is also very relaxed; basically, we only need to shoot for six or seven hours a day, and then we can wrap up and go home. I really think the domestic crews should learn from Hollywood on how to manage a crew. Their management level and experience are much higher than ours. I’ve found that filming domestically often goes over time; we can’t even wrap up by 10:00 PM. Here, whatever the shooting plan is, that’s how it’s executed.”

Zhou Lan: ”This takes time; we have to take it slow.”

”Who are you planning to get to handle the pre-production of ’Child of Prophecy’?” Zhou Yun asked, ”You can’t do it all by yourself, right?”

Zhou Lan said, ”I’ve brought Cao Jun in to help. He’s almost done with the bodyguard training and is currently free. Since we plan to start producing ourselves, it’s good for Cao Jun to get familiar with it. You don’t know, do you? He and Xiaoju have started mentoring apprentices.”

”Really?” Zhou Yun looked at Zhou Lan with excitement, ”Is it true?”

”Yes, it’s true,” Zhou Lan said, ”Our studio is expanding too fast; we’re extremely short-staffed, but I don’t want to hire a large number of people from outside to fill the gaps. Our entire operation is only so big, and hiring a lot of new people from outside might easily cause conflicts between the old staff and new hires. I’d rather everyone work a little harder now. After all, more work means more pay, and I’m very clear on this. The team doesn’t have much objection either. I still hope that, in all the businesses we develop, people we are familiar with are in charge, so I can feel more at ease. Sometimes, it doesn’t matter if the work isn’t perfect, but what’s not allowed is having one’s own little schemes or other ideas.”

Zhou Yun nodded: ”You’re right.”

”By the way, our new office location has been found,” Zhou Lan told Zhou Yun, ”Wu Chengbao recommended a spot to us. I’ll be renting an entire floor. The rent is a bit expensive, 6 million a year, but I think it’s worth it,” Zhou Lan said, ”With a new office, we can hire a few more people. I’m planning to supplement some manpower in film production, especially for the ’Child of Prophecy’ project. Although many people can be sourced from outside, it’s more reassuring to have our own people in key positions.”

”Okay.” Zhou Yun nodded, ”You make the decisions.”

”Apart from ’Child of Prophecy’, Yuehai brought over two projects asking if we’re interested in investing,” Zhou Lan smiled, ”I’ve looked at both projects. They’re both big IP adapted web series, guaranteed to make a profit. Yuehai is trying to build a good relationship by offering us a piece of the pie. Do you think we should invest?”

”Since they’re offering, why not take it? But they’re not giving a large share, right?”

”Not much, just about 5 million combined. It’s a drop in the bucket for the whole operation, but after estimating, it’s quite profitable,” Zhou Lan said.

Zhou Yun said: ”Hmm.”

After finishing their chat, they parted ways.

Zhou Yun returned to the set and, as soon as he walked in, suddenly heard the sounds of a dispute between Lily Cruise and Lew Xi.

”Aside from you, no one else has entered my room. If it wasn’t you, then who?” Lew Xi questioned Lily Cruise emotionally.

Lily Cruise replied defiantly, ”Just because I went into your room doesn’t mean I’m the one who did it. Do you have proof?”

Lew Xi was so angry that every cell in her body seemed to be trembling.

Zhou Yun, not knowing the details, watched the two of them, and saw Nakajima Hoto standing to the side, looking tense, with her hands twisted together as if she wanted to intervene but didn’t dare.

Zhou Yun approached Nakajima Hoto and asked, ”Nakajima, what’s going on with them? How did they start arguing?”

Nakajima Hoto, seeing Zhou Yun appear, seemed to see him as a savior, and said, ”Lew Xi’s bow, which she uses for filming, was damaged. She keeps her bow in her own dressing room, and someone happened to see Lily Cruise going into her room, so Lew Xi started arguing with Lily Cruise. Lew Xi thinks Lily Cruise is the one who damaged her bow.”

The weapon Lew Xi uses in the film is a bow and arrow.

For her, it’s the most important prop, usually managed by the Prop Team, but on set, it’s always with the actor unless the actor specifically requests the Prop Team to keep it.

Zhou Yun asked, ”Where is the bow damaged?”

”The string is broken,” Nakajima Hoto said, ”It was cut.”

Cut?

That clearly indicates it was done on purpose.

But there are no cameras installed at the entrance of Lew Xi’s dressing room, so there’s no footage of who might have gone in. If no one had seen Lily Cruise enter, this would be a complete mystery.

Lew Xi was quick to accuse Lily Cruise just because she entered the room, which might be premature regardless of the actual truth.

Lily Cruise’s stance was very haughty, ”Why would I want to cut your bowstring? Don’t try to pin this on me.”

Lew Xi retorted, ”I know why you dislike me, because your ex-boyfriend is now pursuing me, isn’t that right?”
