Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1635: Chapter 810: Dialogue and Return (4000-Word Update)_2

Sedar nodded and said, ”Of course, I absolutely agree with that point, but I didn’t know you’ve acted in a comedy film before.”

”In that movie, I played a role with not many scenes, maybe a lot of people haven’t heard of it,” Zhou Yun said, ”But it was a great film, and it’s the only comedy piece I’ve ever done.”

She asked Sedar, ”How do you go about choosing scripts?”

Sedar pondered for a moment and then said, ”Firstly, whether it moves me or not, and then whether the role has room for expression. What about you? If it’s a good role with a lot of room for performance but the script is somewhat ordinary, versus a role that’s just average but the script’s story is excellent, which one would you choose?”

Zhou Yun said, ”In situations where I have a choice, I wouldn’t choose either. But if I must pick one from the two, I’d definitely choose the former with the good role but ordinary script.”

”Hmm, I’m with you on that,” Sedar said, ”Actually, by answering this question, we’ve pretty much established how we choose scripts—character first. Whether the role has moved me, giving me the desire to perform, is the most crucial.”

Their conversation opened up as they talked more.

Zhou Yun and Sedar are both people with excellent verbal skills; the more they spoke, the more enthusiastic they became.

They ended up discussing many issues about the film industry.

”I think Hollywood has changed a lot in recent years. I used to rarely see Asian actors here, but now they’re almost everywhere.”

Zhou Yun nodded and said, ”Yes, I know that five years ago, big commercial film productions wouldn’t have had a Chinese actress as the main lead.”

”Hmm, following previous practices, they definitely would have changed the role to a European or American person,” Sedar laughed, ”We must admit, we’re both in a much better time now than before.”

”Yes, but we still have to keep working hard; everything we are enjoying actually stems from the pursuits and pioneers of many predecessors.”

”Certainly.”

Sedar said, ”Apart from your identity as an actress, I was quite surprised that you would speak up for Hugh Redman, clarifying the truth about the incident at the bar, even arguing with people online.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Actually, if possible, I’d also like to stay graceful, not getting into arguments with others, being a friendly person. But sometimes, you witness some unpleasant phenomena in this world, like the Hugh Redman incident. I’ve said many times—it’s indeed wrong that he hit someone, but you have to see why he acted. Did he strike first? No, he retaliated. Did he act to hurt others? No, he was protecting me and Nakajima Hoto, both women. One thing I can’t understand is why so many women still consider him as someone who uses violence. We must recognize that women indeed have a physical strength disparity compared to men, and when we are threatened, we’re basically in a weak position. At that time, wouldn’t you hope for a man with a sense of justice to come forward to protect you? So, both Nakajima Hoto and I are very resolute in saying we cannot let this matter pass just like that. If there are always people trying to tarnish Hugh Redman because of this, we’ll repeatedly use our power to clear Hugh Redman’s name.”

Sedar nodded, showing a deeply approving expression.

”You guys are doing the right thing. Sometimes I really can’t understand why people online have those kinds of views on things. I truly cannot agree,” she said, ”I increasingly feel that the rifts between people are growing larger for various reasons, but the more it’s like this, the more we must stick to our stance.”

Zhou Yun nodded.

...

After the conversation ended, Zhou Yun and Sedar hugged.

Sedar said, ”It was a pleasure chatting with you.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Same here. We only knew each other briefly before, but this time we’ve finally gotten to know each other better.”

Sedar said, ”When I go to China for filming next year, you should show me around.”
