Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1640: Chapter 811: Speech (7,000 Words)_4

Wu Chengbao could only continue pulling his online publicity team, tirelessly spreading the news to every media outlet, striving to ensure everyone knew that Zhou Yun was participating in one of the world’s top film and television industry events.

He complained to Song Chi, saying, ”I’m working for your wife for free here, without even a bonus!”

Song Chi immediately sent him a big red envelope.

Wu Chengbao: ”...”

Song Chi said, ”Please take care of our matters in the future!”

Wu Chengbao: ”...You guys are just using me like a donkey; once I’m worn out, who else will you use?”

Although the work was busy and frustrating, Wu Chengbao didn’t slack off on what needed to be done.

He also knew that this publicity work was important for Zhou Yun.

Even though Zhou Yun was already one of the top actresses in the country, she still needed some positive and continuous exposure. Especially for something good like this, if you don’t promote a good thing, then what should you promote?

December is a month full of various celebrations, ceremonies, fashion events, and award dinners.

Among them, there was an award ceremony for TV dramas, and the hosting TV station invited Song Chi five times, insisting on having him attend because Song Chi’s Company had two upcoming projects with the station, leaving him no choice but to take leave from the crew to attend this award ceremony.

Song Chi was nominated for Best Actor, and the TV station also invited him to be the presenter for the Best Actress award.

Song Chi attended with actors signed to his company.

However, during the award ceremony, a host said something inappropriate.

”Today, our Song Chi is also present and will be our presenter for the Best Actress award. It’s a pity that Miss Zhou Yun couldn’t make it due to filming overseas; otherwise, if Miss Zhou Yun won tonight, everyone could witness Song Chi and Zhou Yun on stage together again.”

As soon as the host said this, the other nominated actresses’ faces turned somewhat sour.

The host’s comment suggested that if Zhou Yun hadn’t been absent tonight, she would have been the most deserving of the award because everyone wanted to see Song Chi and Zhou Yun together.

In fact, the reputation of the drama in which Zhou Yun was nominated wasn’t particularly high.

Tonight’s ceremony wasn’t an authoritative event; it was a gathering organized by the TV station itself, the awards having no credibility within the industry—just an occasion for support.

Zhou Yun was nominated for Best Actress for the drama ”Under the Grand Dress.”

Her performance in this drama was considered quite mediocre, not surprising anyone.

However, since this drama was indeed very popular, being the hottest of the summer, her nomination was reasonable.

The award ultimately went to Wei Ru Xue.

Song Chi handed the trophy to Wei Ru Xue.

Wei Ru Xue, holding the trophy, laughed and said in her first speech line: ”Luckily, Zhou Yun didn’t come tonight; otherwise, I might not have been able to get this award.”

Everyone’s expressions were varied and vibrant.

Given the nature of the awards, this was quite possible.

After all, Zhou Yun winning would receive more attention than Wei Ru Xue.

Wei Ru Xue continued: ”No matter what, I’m very happy to receive this award. I’ve been in the industry for many years, filming many dramas, and have come this far. Thanks to the hosts and audience for your support. As a member of the television community, I might be different from some actors, without the ability to excel in both film and TV. But from the first day I became an actress, I’ve been focused on my own performances. I’m confident that regardless of who I’m compared to, I can say I’m a good actress. To the producers and directors here, come to me for roles—no matter the pay, as long as it’s a good script and team, I’ll perform!”

Wei Ru Xue’s speech was met with thunderous applause.

Song Chi stood beside her clapping too.

After Wei Ru Xue finished speaking, Song Chi didn’t say anything to her and directly walked ahead of her off the stage.

The camera captured this moment, which was noticed by live-streaming audiences and netizens who began discussing it on social media platforms.

——Is Song Chi lacking in grace? His expression is unpleasant; is it because the award wasn’t given to Zhou Yun that he’s showing Wei Ru Xue a sour face?

——Why would Song Chi show a sour face just because the award didn’t go to Zhou Yun? Did you listen to Wei Ru Xue’s acceptance speech? She spoke well, but why indirectly belittle Zhou Yun? How is Zhou Yun’s success in both film and TV her concern? Why this jealousy? And what’s the point of saying ’luckily Zhou Yun didn’t come, else she might not get the award’? What’s she trying to imply with such comments?
