Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 1610: Chapter 806: Incident (Ten Thousand-Word Update!)_7

Lin Zhiping heard and had no choice but to nod.

Zhou Lan hurriedly returned to the company.

The colleagues from the PR team were already all in place.

Zhou Lan was quite surprised and asked, ”How did you all get here so quickly? Didn’t you go home?”

”We were having dinner at a restaurant near the company,” the team leader said, ”Sister Lan, take a look, these are the articles that have been officially published.”

The team leader printed all the collected reports and handed them to Zhou Lan.

Zhou Lan quickly glanced over and said, ”Based on these reports, quickly adjust the statement content. Emphasize that Hugh Redman acted to protect Xiao Yun and Nakajima Hoto, only reacting defensively after the drunk man struck first.”

”Alright.”

”Also, have the domestic media been informed in advance?” Zhou Lan was most worried about domestic rivals using this news to attack Zhou Yun.

These news stories can be fabricated, and no one knows what narratives they might build from the materials.

Zhou Lan checked her email, Zhou Yun hadn’t replied yet.

She had no choice but to call Zhou Yun.

She hoped Zhou Yun hadn’t slept yet.

She knew Zhou Yun had been sleeping early while filming this movie.

Zhou Yun usually sleeps early during filming unless there is a night shoot.

After a while, Zhou Yun answered the phone, ”Sister Lan, what’s up? I’m taking a shower.”

Zhou Yun said, ”The situation with Hugh Redman has been reported by Hollywood media, and the direction is quite unfavorable to him, saying he was causing a disturbance in a bar and fighting.”

Zhou Yun: ”Give me two minutes; I’ll call you back.”

After two minutes, Zhou Yun called back.

”Sister Lan, what’s the situation now? Has Hugh Redman responded yet?”

Zhou Lan: ”He hasn’t responded yet. Have you been in touch with him?”

”He hasn’t been to the set today, and I haven’t seen him at the hotel either,” Zhou Yun said. 𝘧𝓇ℯℴ𝓂

Zhou Lan: ”We can’t haphazardly issue our statement without his response. Let’s wait for his reaction.”

Zhou Yun: ”Hmm, I suppose the crew will release a statement too.”

”Okay,” Zhou Lan said, ”We’ll coordinate with them when the statement is released.”

A celebrity hitting someone is instant news fodder; once it spreads, it attracts attention and sparks criticism.

Hugh Redman isn’t anonymous in the United States, having some fame and being part of a big IP like ”Killing Song.” He’s under media scrutiny, classed as an actor on the cusp of breaking out.

With Hollywood media coverage, interest in the matter skyrocketed.

To Zhou Yun’s surprise, by eleven PM, there was still no response from Hugh Redman’s side.

The issue continued to ferment.

Before falling asleep, several friends had seen the news and asked her about it.

Zhou Yun replied to each, reluctant to continue waiting, she turned off her phone and prepared to sleep.

At this moment, Hugh Redman suddenly sent her a message: Xiao Yun, can I ask for your help to clarify the situation to everyone?

Zhou Yun looked at Hugh Redman’s message and replied: It’s already prepared, waiting for your and Mélando’s statements. Do you want me to coordinate the release with you, or should I release mine first?

She sent the content of her statement to Hugh Redman: Take a look.

Hugh Redman’s side kept showing ”typing,” but after a long time, he didn’t send a complete message.

Zhou Yun wondered what was causing Hugh Redman’s hesitation.

After half an hour, Zhou Yun was almost asleep when her phone vibrated again.

Hugh Redman said: We have released our statement, asking you to help clarify the facts further, thank you, Xiao Yun.

Zhou Yun replied with an OK and then messaged Zhou Lan: Sister Lan, you can release it.

Zhou Lan replied instantly: OK.

It was late night for her side, but the United States hadn’t reached bedtime yet.

Domestically... there were even more night owls.

The statement clearly explained the true circumstances of the incident.

Zhou Yun’s statement, in particular, thoroughly laid out the motives for Hugh Redman’s actions.

Then, Nakajima Hoto’s company also released a statement on her behalf.

Initially criticized by domestic voices, people saw the statement and promptly shifted their attitudes, praising Hugh Redman.

Seeing the change in public opinion, Zhou Yun breathed a sigh of relief, plugged in her phone for charging, silenced it, and went to sleep.

Zhou Yun thought the matter was settled.

But, the situation wasn’t as simple as she imagined.

Hollywood media continued hounding Hugh Redman after all three parties released their statements, downplaying the situation and emphasizing his violence.

Indeed, the act of him hitting someone was a fact.

In reality, Zhou Yun and Nakajima Hoto’s voices could only reach a small audience.

Under media portrayal, most people concluded Hugh Redman was the aggressor, few knew the truth behind it, or that his actions were justified—but justified or not, it didn’t change the act of hitting.

Zhou Yun had an account on international platforms; her statement got few replies and shares.

She observed discussions about the issue and attitudes toward Hugh Redman.

Truthfully, Zhou Yun was angry, angry at the biased media, and angry at those ignoring Hugh Redman’s statement, labeling him a violent criminal in his comments.

On the fourth day of filming, most actors were present.

They were shooting a significant group scene for entering the game.

Hugh Redman was there; his mood seemed low, usually amiable, and chatting with everyone, now he stayed aside silently.

Everyone knew he was in a media crisis, feeling down, so they didn’t disturb him.

But this atmosphere hovered over the set, making everyone cautious in their speech.

This, however, didn’t affect Hugh Redman’s performance.

During acting, he still tapped into his characteristic euphoria.

But once the director shouted cut, he withdrew to the side alone.

Zhou Yun felt particularly helpless.

They couldn’t do anything about it.

The media had dominated the narrative.

Zhou Yun guessed Hugh Redman regretted it deeply.

She hesitated for a moment, and after the day’s shoot, walked over to him, patted his shoulder, and said, ”Hey, Hugh, I know you’re feeling down, if there’s anything you need from me, just let me know.”

Hugh Redman nodded.

”Thank you.”

Such comfort could only be said to be better than nothing.

Hugh Redman was the first to leave the set.

No one said anything.
