Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 799: Chapter 526: Comprehensive Influence

Zhou Yun’s words completely stunned Zhou Jianfeng.

Zhou Jianfeng couldn’t be certain whether Zhou Yun was being sincere or just pretending.

Yuh Jiangxing had also talked to Zhou Jianfeng about the conflict between Zhou Yun and Xu Siyao.

Yuh Jiangxing said that Xu Siyao lacked integrity in her intentions, was full of petty cunning, but lacked great wisdom. She had an unpleasant fallout with Zhou Yun, nearly becoming enemies, yet Xu Siyao naively thought that their differences could be resolved and even believed that what she had done was not a big deal.

At that time, Zhou Jianfeng thought to himself that Xu Siyao lacked an objective perception of her actions.

The things Xu Siyao had done, to any normal person, would be absolutely unforgivable; they crossed the line of principles and bottom lines. Why was she so naive?

Yuh Jiangxing said, ”Don’t ponder why Xu Siyao lacks a clear self-awareness. People are different; some can never objectively perceive their own actions in this lifetime. Trying to change her mind is just causing trouble for yourself. You just need to be aware of this point, so you won’t be influenced or affected by her. The rest is her own business, as every cause has its effect.”

Zhou Jianfeng remembered what Yuh Jiangxing had said and had never naively thought that Xu Siyao could see him in a different light.

He had met Xu Siyao a few times, and she rarely looked at him squarely until he became the male lead of ”Under the Grand Dress,” and suddenly, Xu Siyao’s attitude towards him became enthusiastic.

Zhou Jianfeng knew why. Xu Siyao even specifically reminded him, saying that Zhou Yun was very spiteful and to be careful on set not to offend her, or else, one might unwittingly be resented. At that time, Zhou Jianfeng was dubious about Xu Siyao’s words. He knew Xu Siyao had personal grudges against Zhou Yun and her advice might not come from a place of genuine concern, but he also believed that being cautious and attentive couldn’t hurt. After truly interacting with Zhou Yun, Zhou Jianfeng realized that some people were truly accommodating while others feigned concern.

Hearing Zhou Yun’s words again made Zhou Jianfeng more aware of the disparity between Zhou Yun and Xu Siyao.

Zhou Yun candidly admitted her dislike for Xu Siyao but was also open about not minding that he did not take sides.

Indeed, no one wishes to be forced to choose sides by others, even if team A is good and team B is bad; beyond A and B, there’s a vast world that isn’t just a river with only two banks.

Zhou Jianfeng said, ”Thank you, but I feel somewhat embarrassed, I always feel that...”

”You always feel that getting the role in ’Under the Grand Dress’ was a great opportunity I gave you? Do you feel indebted to me inside?” Zhou Yun asked.

Zhou Jianfeng smiled and nodded, ”Yes, that’s right.”

Zhou Yun smiled and said, ”I’ve known you for a while now, and I’ve noticed you’re more sensitive and meticulous than most men. In fact, whether it was me who gave you this opportunity or not, I certainly don’t think it’s a bad thing for you to feel grateful, but keep it in your heart; if there’s a chance to repay me in the future, I’ll be happy. If there’s no chance to repay me, I won’t chase after you complaining. What I mean is, my affairs with you and my matters with Xu Siyao are two different things. It doesn’t mean that because I helped you, you have to unconditionally help me with everything, everywhere. That makes no sense; do you understand? Over these years, I’ve had a smooth journey, and many people have helped me, but just because someone has helped me, it doesn’t mean I have to side with them on every single issue at all times; they are different matters.”

That evening, Zhou Jianfeng saw another side of Zhou Yun. Although he knew Zhou Yun probably let him see it on purpose, it still deepened Zhou Jianfeng’s understanding of her.

With more understanding, there’s less tension from ignorance.

Zhou Yun’s undisguised aversion towards Xu Siyao, the excitement and competitiveness that she displayed while playing board games, which many ordinary girls have; her forthrightness and freedom when drinking, her clarity and firmness when speaking—all these various aspects of Zhou Yun gave Zhou Jianfeng a more three-dimensional image of her.

Returning to the hotel, as the two got out of the car at the entrance, they happened to run into Guan Siya.
