Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 773: Chapter 517: Trouble on Set (Part 2)

”I can’t believe I was so silly.” Guan Siya excitedly looked at her agent, ”Ah, that’s fantastic! So does that mean I’m going to shoot my second movie with Zhou Yun soon?”

”It’s not decided yet, and if Cheng Shenlv gets the role in the end, you won’t have a part. But I’ll do my best to secure this opportunity for you.”

”Cheng Shenlv...” Guan Siya frowned slightly.

”There’s no other way, as everyone knows that any movie starring Zhou Yun is bound to be a hit. Plus, the script received high internal ratings from our company, and it’s very likely to be a huge success after it airs. If you could play the third female lead, your fame would certainly rise,” the agent said. ”I heard that after playing the fourth female lead in ’Under the Grand Dress,’ Cheng Shenlv caught the eye of another production team and is currently discussing her future schedule with our company.”

Guan Siya’s expression instantly turned ugly.

In terms of the time she signed with Yuehai, she actually joined before Cheng Shenlv. Yet Cheng Shenlv seemed to receive better treatment from Yuehai.

Even though she had previously only played a supporting role in a serious drama, the company’s higher-ups saw her as having a brighter future and paid her more attention, even lending her branded clothes for events.

It was the same with ”Under the Grand Dress”: in the end, Cheng Shenlv got the role of the fourth female lead, and she had to take a back seat. Though the agent had said the casting was decided by Zhou Yun and her team and had nothing to do with the company, Guan Siya didn’t believe there was no company manipulation behind it. The casting of any movie or any role, and who plays it, is entangled with complex interpersonal relationships and even intrigue. Guan Siya did not believe that the company wasn’t involved when it came to their roles.

Now, people had heard the news and sought out Cheng Shenlv for another movie role, and there was no movement on her end. The key issue was that her role was just a more ordinary one, not the fourth female lead.

Guan Siya’s thoughts turned to the third female lead in ”Deep Sea,” and she was seized with a determination to secure that role.

She could not let Cheng Shenlv snatch the role from her! This thought emerged in her mind.

...

In the afternoon, Zheng Xiaowen visited the production set to inspect the final costume fittings.

Not only is VX a joint producer of the series, but Zheng Xiaowen herself is also the costume consultant for the show.

She and her team took on the task of handling every single costume for each character in the drama.

Zheng Xiaowen went to the factory where the actors’ costumes were stored, emphasizing the need for careful storage. Some of the more upscale clothes, such as those the characters would wear to fashion events or dinners, were not stored here; instead, they would be delivered directly by VX staff according to the filming requirements, and then taken back immediately after shooting.

After the inspection, Zheng Xiaowen went to meet Zhou Yun.

”This is my first time being involved in film production, and I’m a little excited,” Zheng Xiaowen said, clutching Zhou Yun’s hand and shrugging her shoulders with a smile, ”It’s really not easy, and we’re finally about to start shooting.”

Zhou Yun said, ”Sister Xiaowen, after this movie comes out, VX’s sales are probably going to skyrocket again.”

”Yes, the revenue from the China market is already the highest among all markets, with the largest share,” Zheng Xiaowen said. ”My partners never understood why I wanted to bring VX back to China to develop. They’ll never say that again now. They even want to send their people over to China, but I’ve flatly refused. I won’t allow anyone to interfere with my turf.”

Zhou Yun gave her a thumbs-up with a smile.

”Awesome.”

”I originally just wanted to be a designer,” Zheng Xiaowen continued, ”but I realized that if I were just a designer, I couldn’t protect my designs or the brand I created with my own hands.”

Zheng Xiaowen’s reflections resonated deeply with Zhou Yun.

”But managing so many actors in one production team must be tough, right?” Zheng Xiaowen suddenly asked, ”With so many people, there are a lot of issues. I heard there was an actor who wanted to add scenes and got rejected?”

”Oh, you must be talking about Cheng Shenlv, yes.” Zhou Yun nodded. ”This script has been polished for a long time, as you know, and I don’t really like making changes to disrupt the script for personal screen time.”

”I heard she was quite unhappy about it,” Zheng Xiaowen said with a smile, ”complaining that you were afraid she’d steal your thunder, so that’s why you wouldn’t agree.”

”Huh?” Zhou Yun looked at Zheng Xiaowen in surprise, ”Where did you hear that from?”
