Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 764: Chapter 514: New Developments (2)

Although she is not on par with Su Yan and Zhou Yun, among the young actresses, her acting skills and fame are quite outstanding, and TV drama producers are very willing to have her.

Yu Sitian thought of Zhou Yun, hesitated for a moment, and said, ”I want to take on ’Dragon Ascending.’”

The agent nodded and said, ”Then it’s settled.”

...

Zhou Yun did not know that her rapid rise was causing anxiety to other actresses like Su Yan, Lew Qingqing, Wei Ruxue, and Yu Sitian.

Previously, when Su Yan and Lew Qingqing were competing, no matter how fierce their rivalry, they never thought about awards because both of them were on equal footing, taking the traffic route, and genuinely talented—not the type with exaggerated acting, capable of supporting TV dramas, but when it came to awards, it depended on the right time, place, and people.

Yu Sitian previously did not film TV dramas, only movies. Even if her movie outcomes weren’t exceptional, it didn’t matter. Among actresses of her age group, she was already the most successful, continually having a stream of movie resources, envied by others and never out of jobs. Taking the movie route, she was naturally held in higher regard. In any event, even if her popularity was not as high as Su Yan’s or Lew Qingqing’s, organizers would definitely treat them at the same level.

Wei Ruxue needs no mention. Without Zhou Yun, she would have become last year’s most popular actress from ’Spring Cold,’ not just one among others, and this year’s award would have allowed her to dominate for a long time.

But Zhou Yun’s presence affected their situation.

With someone comprehensively surpassing them, they were no longer the first choice for collaborators.

This forced them to make some changes.

...

Zhou Yun was promoting ’Warm Little Horse’ with Shen Yao. Shen Yao mentioned a new comedy he was preparing.

Shen Yao said, ”It’s about a group of people stranded on a desert island due to an unexpected accident and witness a small spaceship crashing near the shore. The aliens escaping from the spaceship and this group of people then meet face-to-face, leading to a series of battles for control of the island, filled with many hilarious incidents.”

After hearing Shen Yao’s description, Zhou Yun felt surprised and said, ”This sounds like a very interesting subject.”

”I would like to invite you to play one of the roles,” Shen Yao said, ”but this movie is still an ensemble cast, with seven main characters.”

”Sounds interesting. Is the script written yet?” Zhou Yun asked curiously.

”The first draft of the script just came out; we’re revising the second draft. This movie will involve a lot of special effects, especially with the aliens, so the pre-production will take longer, and we might only start shooting by the end of next year,” Shen Yao explained with a smile, ”I’ve always wanted to make a comedy involving aliens. When I was little, I would dream about aliens coming to find me.”

Zhou Yun said, ”So this would essentially be a sci-fi comedy?”

”Sort of, soft sci-fi,” Shen Yao replied with a sigh, ”Nowadays, making a hardcore sci-fi movie, there’s still not a big market in our country.”

Zhou Yun said, ”I’ve read some very interesting sci-fi novels.”

”I’ve seen news saying you love reading novels.”

”Yes, reading novels gives me a sense of temporarily leaving the world I live in,” Zhou Yun said, ”I’m also very interested in other people’s stories.”

Shen Yao said, ”If you come across a novel that interests you, you might consider asking a production company to adapt it into a film or TV series. You currently have significant capabilities and resources; you can definitely undertake this.”

”I’m worried that I’m stepping too far. I roughly know my bearings as an actress, but if I try to explore new things now, I’m afraid it might backfire due to lack of energy.”

”You don’t have to handle everything personally. Just find the right people, and you can stick to acting,” Shen Yao said, ”I have a reliable producer who takes care of everything for me. What kind of director I want for the movie, what kind of actors, how it should be shot, which production company to collaborate with, how much budget is needed, etc., I’m not that familiar with these details either. But having a professional help you allows you to make more movies you want to make. Actually, without doing so, we actors are always in a position of being chosen.”
