Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 775: Chapter 518: Top-Tier Actor

Should I apologize?

Cheng Shenlv was indecisive.

But now, the looks everyone gave her more or less carried a sense of scrutiny and schadenfreude, which heavily pressured her.

She sank into misery and depression, afraid to even leave the lounge.

However, there were script readings every day; she couldn’t just lock herself in the lounge and not come out.

Her assistant noticed her unease and tension.

After her agent learned about this incident, he couldn’t hold back his temper and scolded her.

”You can complain, but why complain to Guan Siya? Don’t you know that you’re competitors?” The agent was furious. Before this, Cheng Shenlv had been in a promising position, ”Do you know why Guan Siya leaked what you said? Because our Yuehai is about to work with Zhou Yun in another film soon, and the company was going to choose between you and Guan Siya for the role of the third female lead. I’ve been advocating for you to get this role these past few days; you messed up on set, offended Zhou Yun, and all my efforts were wasted. Don’t even think about it; Zhou Yun definitely won’t let you act!”

Cheng Shenlv felt as though her heart had sunk to the bottom.

She was troubled and regretful, but it was of no use.

”What should I do?”

”Apologize, go and apologize sincerely,” her agent said, ”Forget about that film, just hope she will forgive you and won’t target you because of this incident.”

Tears fell from Cheng Shenlv’s eyes.

”I’m sorry.” She apologized.

”What’s the use of crying now?” Her agent glared at her with a look of disappointment, ”You’ve had it too smooth, even daring to trust Guan Siya.”

At this moment, Cheng Shenlv absolutely loathed Guan Siya.

She also hated her past self for trusting Guan Siya.

After the script reading that afternoon, even Zhou Jianfeng could feel Cheng Shenlv’s low spirits.

He whispered to Cheng Shenlv, ”You’re making it too obvious, if you keep being this down, the director will surely come talk to you, I think he was already somewhat dissatisfied this afternoon.”

”Shenlv.” At that moment, Guan Siya suddenly came over, her face full of concern for Cheng Shenlv, and asked worriedly, ”Are you feeling unwell? I noticed you weren’t in a good state just now.”

Seeing Guan Siya, a surge of anger rose in Cheng Shenlv’s heart.

How thick-skinned she was, to have done such a thing and still pretend to be ignorant and feign concern.

She looked at her coldly and said sharply, ”Don’t bother caring about me.”

Guan Siya was taken aback.

She showed a hurt expression due to Cheng Shenlv’s coldness and asked, ”Shenlv, did I make you upset somehow? Why are you suddenly so cold to me?”

Cheng Shenlv sneered, ”You know very well in your heart.”

Guan Siya said, ”I really don’t know, Shenlv, can you please clarify? I’m totally confused.”

Before Cheng Shenlv could speak, Zhou Jianfeng suddenly said, ”Maybe you two should talk? My assistant is waiting for me, I need to get back to the hotel.”

Cheng Shenlv: ”There’s nothing to talk about, I’m leaving too.”

She wore all her dissatisfaction with Guan Siya on her face and left without looking back.

Guan Siya looked innocently and hurtfully at Cheng Shenlv’s departing figure, then turned to Zhou Jianfeng and asked, ”What’s wrong with her?”

Zhou Jianfeng, not wanting to get involved in their dispute, gave a slight smile and said, ”I don’t know either, I’m off, bye.”

Yuehai’s actors were known for their intense internal competition, a well-known fact in the entire entertainment industry.

Zhou Jianfeng remembered his agent’s teachings to never get involved in any interpersonal conflicts.

In this field, relationships were too complicated, and no one knew whose feathers you might ruffle.

...

On the way back to the hotel, Zheng Xiaojue said, ”Sister Xiao Yun, I saw Cheng Shenlv couldn’t even look at you this afternoon, probably because she knew her words got back to you.”

Zheng Xiaojue’s tone was somewhat schadenfreude. In her view, it was well-deserved. Among so many competitors, Zhou Yun finally chose Cheng Shenlv for the role of the fourth female lead, Zheng Xiaojue thought Cheng Shenlv should be grateful, but instead, this woman was unsatisfied and wanted more scenes, and when that failed, she even badmouthed Sister Xiao Yun. She even wished they would simply replace Cheng Shenlv.
