Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 753: Chapter 510: Box Office Miracle (Part 3)

Of course, the ones who discussed this matter the most were the artists.

They all have to deal with partners and are very clear that these partners spare no effort in preventing competing brands to ensure their own interests are maximized.

If you appeared in Marie Claire in September, then it’s certain that you won’t appear in other fashion magazines that month, unless it’s a lower-tier fashion magazine.

If you went on Happy Camp to promote a movie, then forget about going on Happy Camp as well, unless you are Zhou Xun who can handle both sides.

This is an unwritten rule within the industry, a rule everyone tacitly understands and follows.

Zhou Yun can collaborate with three platforms, but not at the same time; she has to ensure that only one platform has her at any given time—this is exclusivity.

Just like with platforms that buy the online broadcasting rights for TV dramas, most of the time they have to wait until the TV station has finished airing it before it can go online.

The fact that Zhou Yun was active during the same time period might seem trivial, but in reality, it was quite an unconventional move.

However, what others say about it isn’t within Zhou Yun’s consideration. Her interaction with netizens on three platforms attracted the participation of hundreds of millions of people. After this data was compiled, even Zhou Lan was astonished, fearing that the activity summary would be too alarming if the figures were disclosed, attracting unwanted attention.

Yet even without Zhou Lan intending to publish the data, the impact of tonight’s activities on Behind the Scenes was evident through the surge in box office sales.

Until six o’clock in the evening, the day’s box office of Behind the Scenes was just over ten million, but starting from six o’clock, the rate of box office growth suddenly accelerated, and by eleven o’clock at night, the day’s box office broke through 40 million, reaching the highest peak since its release.

And that wasn’t the end, on Saturday, 71 million, Sunday, 69 million.

The cumulative figure for the three days brought Behind the Scenes’ total box office to nearly 300 million.

This box office performance shocked everyone in the industry.

For three consecutive days, Behind the Scenes’ box office securely held second place, just slightly less than a new movie released on Friday.

However, the industry wasn’t focused on the first place but on Behind the Scenes.

When people in the industry discussed film box office or the current market on the phone, they all mentioned Zhou Yun’s promotional event on Friday night.

A promotional event that brought in nearly 200 million in box office revenue—such a case study was enough to be taken by various promotion companies to research and learn from.

Yao Yuanfeng called Zhou Yun and said six words: ”You’re incredibly awesome!”

Zhou Yun smiled, her demeanor as calm as the clouds and wind, and said: ”Just routine operations.”

Zhou Yun signed a box office revenue-sharing contract with Behind the Scenes; the higher the box office, the higher her return.

With the current trend, even Shi Luoqi made a call to thank Zhou Yun. In fact, by now, everyone knew that Behind the Scenes’ high box office earnings were chiefly thanks to Zhou Yun.

Looking at the current trend, Behind the Scenes was very likely to break through 500 million—a box office revenue that could be essentially considered pure profit for its cost.

Let’s not forget, this movie was practically costless.

It was an additional work filmed alongside Falling Leaves; Xue Qin didn’t take any money, Zhou Yun signed for a share of the profits, and the combined fees of Zeng Lili, You Jiang, and Wang Jing didn’t exceed one million—indeed the funding for filming Behind the Scenes was very tight, even the set was completely borrowed from the filming site of Falling Leaves.

Zhou Yun made a strong comeback in the film market; after the box office miracle of Life last November, she made another box office marvel with Behind the Scenes this June.

A movie-centric self-media said in their program: ”Everyone must not forget one thing, up to now, Zhou Yun has only met the audience with two movies, one is Life, the other is Behind the Scenes. Please remember, the directors of both movies are truly newcomers, both are genuine debut works. Zhou Yun is different from other famous actresses who depend on renowned or big-shot directors; she didn’t rely on massive productions or big series. She depended on her own unique vision, accurate judgment, picked these two directors, chose these two movies, and single-handedly, relying on her own capabilities, carved out her own territory in the unfamiliar film circle!”

When Zhou Lan saw this program, she immediately had her team push this program.

There was no other reason—good points had to be heard by more people.
