Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 771: Chapter 516: Drama Over Adding Scenes (Part 3)

Zhou Lan said, ”I heard your agent approached the director, wanting to add some scenes for you?”

Cheng Shenlv was startled.

She didn’t expect Zhou Lan to receive the news so quickly.

She scratched her nose awkwardly and said, ”I did have some thoughts because I feel that the character I am playing has a lot of potential to be further explored.”

”I understand your desire to add scenes, however, as you can see, this film has over a dozen actors. If everyone thought like you and wanted more scenes, then there would be no point in filming at all, right?”

Zhou Lan watched Cheng Shenlv, her tone neither stern nor relaxed but with a hint of warning.

Cheng Shenlv’s face turned slightly pale.

She pursed her lips and remained silent.

”You are a very promising girl, just keep working hard, step by step, and you will definitely get a chance to be the lead actress one day,” Zhou Lan said gently as she patted Cheng Shenlv’s shoulder.

Cheng Shenlv forced a smile.

After speaking with Zhou Lan, she went back to her dressing room alone.

It was rest time in the evening, no work was scheduled, she stayed in her dressing room for a while, then contacted her agent to head back to her hotel to rest.

The agent said, ”I saw that the crew arranged a car to take you back to the hotel, so I let the driver go first. You can take the crew’s car back.”

Cheng Shenlv responded with an ”oh”.

Her agent, sensing her low spirits, asked, ”What’s wrong? Feeling unhappy?”

Cheng Shenlv did not want to tell her agent about being reprimanded by Zhou Lan, and covered it up, ”No, it’s nothing, I’m hanging up.”

She hung up the phone, picked up her things, and as she walked out, she bumped into Guan Siya, whose dressing room was next to hers.

She and Guan Siya were both signed actors under Yuehai and knew each other from before, with quite a good relationship.

”Shenlv, are you also heading back to the hotel?” Guan Siya asked excitedly upon seeing her.

Cheng Shenlv nodded and said, ”Yes.”

”Let’s go together then,” Guan Siya said warmly, linking arms with Cheng Shenlv, ”Today was so exhausting, I’ve never been part of a play reading held so many times before, and no absences allowed either, so strict.”

Cheng Shenlv said, ”After all, it is a big play starring Zhou Yun.”

Guan Siya: ”I wonder when we will be as famous as Zhou Yun.”

Cheng Shenlv smiled and said, ”I don’t even dare to think about that.”

”Just think about it, dream a bit,” Guan Siya went on, ”But you getting to play the fourth female lead this time is quite incredible, maybe when the play airs, you might rise to stardom.”

Cheng Shenlv pouted and said, ”Stop, I’m really not in the mood to dream about stardom right now.”

”Why? You do look quite down. What happened?” Guan Siya asked with concern.

Cheng Shenlv shook her head and said, ”Nothing, just a small matter, let’s head back.”

”Oh dear, you have to speak up if something bothers you, otherwise, keeping it inside will just keep you upset,” Guan Siya said, ”How about this, let’s go eat something together? Let’s have a drink and talk properly.”

Cheng Shenlv hesitated, feeling troubled, but eventually didn’t have the heart to refuse.

After dinner and a drink, Cheng Shenlv finally couldn’t hold back, and shared what she had encountered with Guan Siya.

”It must have been Zhou Yun who refused, so Zhou Lan came to tell me all those things,” Cheng Shenlv said somewhat resentfully, ”Don’t you find it strange? I was not asking for many added scenes, just wanted to make my character a bit more complete, more enriched, yet she had her agent come directly to warn me, why so petty?”

Guan Siya looked at her surprisingly.

”You’ve got quite the nerve, huh? How could you dare to suggest adding scenes?”

”Who knew Zhou Yun would be so petty?” Cheng Shenlv said, ”In the previous play I did, there were many major actors too. Yet when I suggested my ideas, when I suggested that certain areas could do with a bit more to make the character more complete, everyone praised me for thinking thoroughly and even encouraged me to offer more of my ideas.”

She sighed.

”I’m really somewhat disappointed.”

Guan Siya patted Cheng Shenlv’s back and said, ”Don’t talk like that, after all, this is Zhou Yun’s lead role drama, it’s normal for her not to want anyone overshadowing her, we are only supporting actresses.”

”So what if we are supporting actresses? Don’t supporting actresses have the right to strive for enrichment in their roles?” Cheng Shenlv said irritably.

Guan Siya fell silent.

They continued drinking until nine before returning to the hotel.

”It’s time to go back and rest. Tomorrow we have to continue reading the script,” Guan Siya said.

Only then did Cheng Shenlv leave with Guan Siya.
