Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 774: Chapter 517: Troubles on the Film Set (Part 3)

”I just went to check on the costumes and overheard the staff talking about it,” Zheng Xiaowen shrugged her shoulders, ”Don’t you know about it yet?”

”I didn’t hear that she complained afterwards, but the key thing is, it’s not like I disagreed, so she complained about the wrong person,” Zhou Yun complained.

”Ha ha.”

”I can understand an artist wanting more scenes, but her words really got to me,” Zhou Yun said, somewhat annoyed, ”I always thought she was a lively and cute girl, who knew...”

”Who knows? I’ve dealt with all sorts of artists and their teams. Honestly, artists really have too many issues, and the less impressive ones have even more. There was one time a newly debuted artist demanded a raise right before an event, or he wouldn’t attend, which infuriated me on the spot.”

”That’s way too much,” Zhou Yun commented.

”Yeah, what can I say, your industry tends to attract a lot of vain people,” Zheng Xiaowen said, ”These talent agencies don’t really care about their real personalities; as long as they look good and are well-packaged to make money, that’s all that matters.”

”...That’s really cruel.”

The two chatted for a while before Zhou Yun saw Zheng Xiaowen out. She personally escorted Zheng Xiaowen to her car before returning to the lounge. On her way back, she ran into Cheng Shenlv.

Cheng Shenlv greeted her as obediently as usual.

Remembering the conversation she had just had with Zheng Xiaowen, Zhou Yun glanced at her, nodded slightly without much enthusiasm, and then walked away.

Cheng Shenlv couldn’t help but feel surprised and somewhat uneasy.

Zhou Yun’s demeanor left her feeling apprehensive and nervous.

Cheng Shenlv asked her assistant, ”Did you feel Zhou Yun’s attitude towards me was a bit strange just now? Like she had some complaints about me?”

The assistant spoke in a low voice, ”It does seem a bit like that.”

”Why would it be like that?” Cheng Shenlv asked perplexedly.

Her assistant fell silent.

As Cheng Shenlv made her way to her lounge, she encountered many people.

In a film crew, there are always people in every corner.

What made Cheng Shenlv feel uneasy were the gazes of these people; they seemed to imply something more than just seeing her—they seemed to recall certain things as they looked at her.

Thinking back to Zhou Yun’s attitude earlier, she realized that something must have happened.

...

”Did you want more scenes for yourself earlier, and when it didn’t succeed, you complained about Zhou Yun?” Cheng Shenlv went to ask Zhou Jianfeng, and Zhou Jianfeng asked her this.

Cheng Shenlv was startled.

She looked at Zhou Jianfeng in surprise, initially wanting to deny it, but realizing it was pointless since it was already put out there.

”How did you know?”

”Not just me, almost the entire crew knows now, so when you say Zhou Yun’s attitude towards you is a bit strange, I guess she might have heard about it too,” said Zhou Jianfeng.

Cheng Shenlv’s face turned pale instantly.

”How, how did this happen? I just had some drinks and grumbled privately, why did everyone end up knowing about it?”

Cheng Shenlv realized she had made a significant mistake.

She also realized that she might have offended the most influential person in the crew.

Cheng Shenlv’s heart sank.

”What should I do? I really didn’t mean it, I...” Cheng Shenlv anxiously bit her lip, unable to continue.

Seeing Cheng Shenlv so self-reproaching and anxious, Zhou Jianfeng, remembering how she had stood up to alleviate his tension during a meeting, hesitated and then said, ”Maybe you should apologize to Zhou Yun.”

”Huh?” Cheng Shenlv looked at him in surprise.

Zhou Jianfeng said, ”Actually, when you thought Zhou Lan came to warn you on Zhou Yun’s behalf, you might be mistaken.”

”Ah?”

”Zhou Yun wouldn’t do that, she’s not as petty as you think,” Zhou Jianfeng said, ”I’ve heard many things about her on the set. She’s the kind of artist who doesn’t even agree when others want to give her more scenes. She’s not afraid of being outshined by others. Even for the movie ’Four Killers’, when the producer wanted to replace her, she refused, saying since the contract was already set there was no need for changes. Honestly, although I get nervous around her, I really respect her. She truly respects the script, the performance, and her fellow actors. So, with this incident, I think it’s better if you apologize. I believe she might forgive you.”

Cheng Shenlv was hesitant, ”I’ve complained so much about her, will she still forgive me?”

”If you haven’t violated her principles, I think she might forgive you,” Zhou Jianfeng said. ”I’ve heard from people in the company that she and Zhou Lan had major conflicts before, but in the end, she forgave him, and now their relationship is very good.”
