Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 757: Chapter 512: A New Plan

Lew Qingqing is about to give birth, and during this period, except for regularly conducting live broadcasts, she almost never goes out.

Her belly is too large, and she does not wish to show herself in this condition.

Speaking of which, she is a single mother and does not want to reinforce this image to the outside world.

After the news came out that she would soon collaborate on a new film with director Zhong Heping, her phone kept vibrating with messages of congratulations and inquiries about the situation.

Thinking back, there was a time when there were hardly any visitors.

Lew Qingqing felt it ironic, yet there was also a kind of exhilarating vindication.

She replied to each message, expressing her thanks and feeling fortunate about the decision she made.

Director Zhong Heping’s new film involved nudity, and initially, when they approached her, she hesitated for a long time.

But eventually, Lew Qingqing decided to act because she deeply realized that she had reached a moment where she must either sink or swim. Her career had been visibly declining over the last two years. Zhou Yun’s strong rise, Ning Yao solidifying her position in the film industry, Wei Ru Xue’s success with ”Spring Cold”, Su Yan returning to the pinnacle with ”Heart Inquiry”, all her main competitors were very strong, and even those who used to be slightly weaker than her had released works in the last two years, solidifying their positions.

It was as if she had been cursed – the films she shot took forever in censorship, unable to be released; the actor in her group in ”Luoyan” caused a problem, resulting in a total reshoot, which was still in post-production, leaving no one certain of its salvageable extent; the low-budget suspenseful web drama ”Heart Palpitating” didn’t look promising, and she didn’t know what success it could achieve; major endorsements one after another chose not to renew contracts with her.

Lew Qingqing was pregnant, and the pregnancy symptoms made her uncomfortable, coupled with her career crisis, she was highly anxious.

If she didn’t take drastic measures, she might soon really fall out of favor.

Who wants to fall out of favor?

In such circumstances, Lew Qingqing decided to make a sacrifice and take on Zhong Heping’s new film.

Even without waiting for the movie’s release, just this news alone immediately attracted so much attention and discussions.

Once the child is born, she would join the crew.

Lew Qingqing touched her prominently bulging belly, thinking, no matter what, she had to seize this opportunity.

...

”Regret it?”

After seeing Wang Jing, Zhou Lan asked her.

Wang Jing looked somewhat complicated and did not speak for a long time.

Recently, she had been basking in success, receiving invitations to all sorts of events, and moreover, many film offers.

However, the news of Zhong Heping’s new movie did bother her.

Zhou Lan’s question hit the nail on the head; indeed, she felt some regret and even a bit of wavering, secretly wondering if she had missed a great opportunity.

Wang Jing shook her head and said, ”I don’t know.”

Zhou Lan smiled slightly, took her hand, and spoke earnestly, ”Once you make a decision, don’t regret it. You will face many more choices in the future, and you have to judge. Sometimes your choices are right, sometimes they are wrong, but you have to know that no one’s choices are always right throughout their life; everyone makes mistakes. What’s important is how many correct decisions you can make, as a person’s life often hinges on a few key correct decisions.”

Wang Jing pursed her lips, bowed her head, and said, ”Sister Lan, I am a bit confused right now. I don’t know if I chose wrong.”

”It’s okay if you chose wrong because you will have many more opportunities to make choices in the future. But you have to think clearly, do not make a rash decision next time just because you regret this time. I didn’t persuade you to shoot this movie then, because ’Behind the Scenes’ gave you more options; you may not need to make such a sacrifice for such an opportunity.”

Zhou Lan’s voice was calming yet forceful, making Wang Jing listen involuntarily and nod.

Zhou Lan said, ”Now, what I need to remind you is, if a reporter asks about this matter, about the previous news that you were going to star in this movie, don’t be jealous of others, don’t imply criticism indirectly, and don’t be sarcastic. It’s best to avoid answering and not let yourself fall into this kind of public discourse.”

”Alright, I understand, Sister Lan,” Wang Jing said.

Zhou Lan smiled slightly, ”Then I’ll leave it at that, I know you don’t like hearing too much.”
