Caught in Affairs with Superstar

Chapter 781: Chapter 520: Eating and Chatting

Guan Siya had far more acting experience than Cheng Shenlv, having played almost ten different roles, big and small.

Having struggled through various film crews, she considered herself quite familiar with the life on set.

Yet, in all the dramas she had acted in, she had never experienced filming like what had just occurred.

Four cameras were capturing the actors’ performances, with actors moving and interacting within the editing room space; each actor was perfectly in character, as if they had been collaborating for a long time, seamlessly in sync.

Not a single person forgot their lines, misspoke, or skipped scenes.

How smooth the scene just now was, she, being present on-site, saw it all. If the final version broadcasted is a refined product through editing and adjustments, the scene just performed live was in its rawest form, which typically has flaws.

Suddenly, Guan Siya felt a surge of pressure.

A tremendous pressure.

With everyone passing the scene in one take, how would she fare when it was her turn to perform?

”Everyone is really impressive,” Zhou Jianfeng, who also wasn’t in the first scene, was learning from observation on the set and softly expressed his admiration.

”Script readings are very useful.” An assistant director familiar to him stood by his side, smiling, ”Nowadays, many actors don’t even know the characteristics of the characters they are supposed to play, or what features the scene should exhibit before the shooting starts. They rely on the director to teach and adjust on set. But ’Under the Grand Dress’ held many script reading sessions, grinding out each scene, so everyone has a clear idea of the effect they should deliver in each scene.”

Zhou Jianfeng nodded.

”In fact, this habit is very beneficial for young actors. It’s just that in recent years the whole market has been a bit too eager for quick success and lacks the patience to deeply explore each scene. Finding a good IP, adapting it into a decent story, casting actors, selling it, and making money—that’s the process,” the assistant director said. ”But actually, this approach can make everyone anxious and rash. That’s why you see many actors who have acted in numerous dramas and might be very famous, but their acting doesn’t improve or get recognized.”

Zhou Jianfeng pressed his lips together in a slight smile.

”You must have experienced such hurried filming before, right? Rushing into the crew, rushing to finish shooting, and probably not even realizing what kind of role you played after it’s all done.”

Zhou Jianfeng nodded and said, ”I have experienced it.”

”To be honest, I’ve been in this industry for a long time. I’ve come across young actors as successful as Zhou Yun before, but celebrities like her who are willing to use their influence to make a film the best it can be are few and far between.”

Zhou Jianfeng said, ”Sister Xiao Yun is indeed very impressive in this aspect; I had heard about that before.”

”The more people you interact with, the more you’ll realize this is not just about being impressive. But as I’m telling you now, you can’t fully grasp what I mean. In any case, whether it’s for you actors or for us behind the scenes, good productions are the foundation of our industry. No matter where you go or what situation you face in the future, the good works you’ve been part of will be your strongest asset. Many young celebrities who have been popular for a year or two don’t understand this, or even if they do, they don’t take it seriously. So when their popularity fades and their fans disappear, they suddenly get abandoned by the market and the companies, and never get a chance to start over. But those who have representative works can make a comeback at any time; those works are their calling cards.”

Zhou Jianfeng knew the assistant director was sharing these thoughts with him because they were close.

In the second scene, both Guan Siya and Zhou Jianfeng were to make their appearance.

It was a scene involving a meeting.

’Under the Grand Dress’ wasn’t planning to shoot in chronological order due to the large number of actors involved. The final decision by the coordination team was to shoot the scenes involving many actors first. This way, some actors whose roles weren’t as prominent but who appeared frequently could finish their parts and leave the set sooner.

After all, compared to other dramas, the settings in ’Under the Grand Dress’ weren’t as complicated; there were no breathtaking grand scenes or major logistical coordination needed across multiple departments.

Zhou Yun and some other actors went to the dressing room to change into their costumes for the second scene.
