Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 749, Truly Becoming Friends

Lu Fan deeply agreed with the Frost Dragon King’s words.

Originally, being such a cynical person, he could not be bothered to shoulder such a heavy responsibility of saving the world.

As long as someone else could save the world, he would never appear before the crowd, instead preferring to retreat to a corner and live his own life peacefully, as long as no one provoked him.

But when great calamity loomed, who could truly stay uninvolved?

If Lu Fan ignored the Ancient Gods’ awakening, Humanity would inevitably lack the power to resist the Ancient Gods, and everything Lu Fan possessed would be lost.

From the current perspective, the Frost Dragon King’s thoughts coincided perfectly with Lu Fan’s. The Frost Dragon King also had no interest in saving the world, but despite already being dead, it did not want to let its killer simply devour the entire world.

Therefore, before its death, it did its part, leaving behind a section of that Ancient God’s body, which might provide unexpected assistance in dealing with this Ancient God.

Lu Fan had already decided that if he truly found such a thing upon returning, he would certainly send this section of the body to Dragon Country, letting Dragon Country’s scholars thoroughly study it.

With talented individuals like Hou Zhiwu present, Lu Fan believed that Dragon Country’s scholars would surely work hard to develop methods for dealing with the Ancient Gods.

Without specialised methods to counter the Ancient Gods, attempting to battle such existences would be foolhardy. It was almost impossible to win, and far too unfair for Humanity.

Finding strategies to defeat Ancient Gods was absolutely a matter of utmost priority.

However, if passing the Seven Trials only yielded this small amount as a Reward, Lu Fan would naturally be unwilling to accept it.

After all, the Seven Trials were absolutely one of the greatest dangers he had ever experienced. If the Frost Dragon King did not give him something else, it would be completely unacceptable.

And indeed, this was not it.

After finishing talking about the Ancient God, the Frost Dragon King shifted the conversation. “Actually, in wanting you to resist and even eliminate that Ancient God, I have my own selfish motives.”

“Us Frost Dragons have a unique characteristic that prevents us from dying that easily. Death, for us, is merely a cycle. My flesh may die, but our bodies will reform into a Dragon Egg and undergo reincarnation once more. Therefore, Frost Dragons have two methods of reproduction: normal reproduction and living another life.”

“So, though I have died, I still possess the ability to live another life. By passing my Seven Trials, you have essentially demonstrated strength that surpasses mine. I hope you can take the reincarnation of me and continue growing stronger, allowing me to return to my peak. If possible, I hope to once again face that Ancient God at my peak in Combat Power. After all, during the Dragon Snow Mountain battle, many of my Frost Dragon Clan brethren have died at this Ancient God’s hands. Next time I battle it, I must win and avenge my fellow Clansmen.”

“When this wisp of my consciousness completely dissipates, my body should enter reincarnation and reform into a Dragon Egg. Properly hatch me. I believe the things I can help you with will be many. So many that you’ll feel that hatching me would be the absolutely best decision you can make.”

The Frost Dragon King’s voice became increasingly ethereal and insubstantial towards the end, until Lu Fan could barely hear it.

Following this, the spiritual vibration sent out by the Frost Dragon King was severed.

The luminous shadow floating above the Frost Dragon King also scattered and disappeared into mid-air.

The Frost Dragon King carcass likewise dimmed its radiance, rapidly growing dark.

Immediately after, the massive Dragon Carcass disintegrated, like accumulated snow blown by fierce wind, transforming into sand-fine dust particles that floated towards the sky, entering this Frost Dragon Icy Sky Map and merging with it completely.

Seeing this, Lu Fan was somewhat stunned and hastily communicated spiritually to contact the Devouring Dragon King. “Damn it! The Frost Dragon King’s carcass is disappearing! It said it would live another life, and the Dragon Carcass before us might vanish completely!”

The Devouring Dragon King’s voice followed, though her tone remained calm. “I know. Through our spiritual connection, I could hear everything the Frost Dragon King said to you.”

Lu Fan said. “Then what should we do? I promised to help you obtain some of the Frost Dragon King’s flesh and blood for you to devour, allowing you to gain the Frost Dragon King’s traits and Skills. If its carcass disappears, won’t I be unable to fulfil my promise!?”

Such words from Lu Fan made the Devouring Dragon King heart felt a little warm, though she said nothing aloud, she knew she would remember this kindness.

[How truly reliable. To think even at this moment, he still remembered the Frost Dragon flesh and blood he had promised me.]

The Devouring Dragon King spoke to comfort him. “I had long anticipated that the Frost Dragon King couldn’t possibly just leave its carcass here for others to exploit. I’ve also heard of the Frost Dragon Clan’s ability to live another life. So, if this Frost Dragon King was not directly killed by enemies, but instead found such a place as its eternal resting ground, then it should reincarnate by living another life, reforming into a Dragon Egg.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Fan was startled. “Then regarding the Frost Dragon King’s flesh and blood I promised you earlier, why didn’t tell me earlier? ”

“Speaking or it held no meaning.” the Devouring Dragon King directly interrupted Lu Fan’s words, laughing. “I merely wanted to see whether you truly wished to open your heart to me, allowing us to genuinely become friends with mutual benefit. Now it appears your thoughts are indeed rather pure, without holding any schemes against me. This much is enough for me.”

“You…” Lu Fan shook his head with a smile, still feeling rather sorry towards the Devouring Dragon King.

After all, during this journey, though the Devouring Dragon King never appeared directly, she had provided him with tons of useful information.

He had promised to help her devour the Frost Dragon King’s traits and Skills, but now it seemed this could not be realised.

The Devouring Dragon King was nonchalant. “Enough. Stop overthinking things. I know quite a few Ice Element Skills. Although my Crowd Control Skill still pales in comparison to a Frost Dragon King, they’re enough. In a moment, just properly protect that Dragon Egg and hatch it.”

“This will be your tenth Pet Dragon King. You should have witnessed it during the Seven Trials just how powerful a Frost Dragon King is. With this Pet Dragon, your strength should improve by a notch. So, properly nurture this Pet Dragon. Don’t disappoint its previous incarnation.”

“Very well.” Lu Fan nodded, simply ceasing to think about this matter.

Soon, the Frost Dragon King’s carcass finally disappeared completely, and in the place where its body had originally been, two items were clearly displayed.
