Chapter 736, The Frost Dragon King’s Seven Trials

“It can be opened!?” Lu Fan’s breathing became somewhat hurried upon hearing this. “Does that mean this carcass isn’t just for show. It can actually be obtained? I just need to uncover the method, and I can take its carcass away?”

The Devouring Dragon King hummed in acknowledgement and said, “That’s right, but as for how you can open the Ice Crystal Coffin, I can’t help you much with that. After all, the key to open it is designed by the Frost Dragon King. Only it knows what sort of person is qualified to open up its own coffin.”

“Then…” Lu Fan calmed down slightly from his wild joy. “What you say is right. Since the Frost Dragon King left behind its own carcass, it must not intend for others to obtain it so easily. I wonder what sort of puzzle it has set, to allow those who pass to obtain its remains?”

Just as Lu Fan was pondering this, strange fluctuations suddenly emanated continuously from the Frost Dragon King carcass.

The Devouring Dragon King also sensed this and, through their spiritual connection, chuckled. “It looks like you don’t need to rack your brains anymore. The Frost Dragon King is going to tell you exactly what sort of puzzle it had left behind.”

As the Devouring Dragon King’s words fell, several Secret Realm entrances opened in succession on the Frost Dragon King’s massive carcass!

These Secret Realm entrances opened respectively on the Frost Dragon King’s skull, four claws, tail, and body. There were seven in total.

In an instant, all the Secret Realm entrances were fully opened. The seven Secret Realms glowed brilliantly, as if they contained tremendous opportunities and fortune within.

Seven Secret Realms appearing simultaneously in one place. Who would believe such a thing if word got out?

Yet now the facts were exactly as such. On the giant Frost Dragon King carcass, Secret Realm entrances stood wide open, seemingly welcoming Lu Fan’s entry. Such a spectacle was extraordinarily strange.

“Seven Secret Realms?” Lu Fan was greatly shocked at the sight.

Conversely, the Devouring Dragon King was quite composed, as if understanding something, and said. “So, this is its Seven Trials.”

Upon hearing this, Lu Fan immediately asked. “What Seven Trials?”

The Devouring Dragon King answered, “They’re Seven Trials set by it. There’s no particularly special meaning to it. Just know that each of these Secret Realms contain a trial. If you pass, then you’ll be able to remove that portion of ice from its carcass.”

“If you fail even one, then the Seven Trials will reset, including the previously solved trials. Also, those portions of ice will restore themselves and seal the carcass again.”

Lu Fan still only half-understood and asked again, “Then what are the contents of the Seven Trials?”

“Who knows?” The Devouring Dragon King seemed to think Lu Fan was asking too many questions, her tone becoming somewhat impatient. “What the exam paper contains can naturally only be known by the one who sets it. It is clear that this Frost Dragon King’s death isn’t from natural ageing but had other hidden circumstances. It was unwilling to die just like that, so it left behind Seven Trials to select someone it wanted to grant them its remains.”

“I think obtaining this Frost Dragon King carcass might only be the beginning for you. Once you clear the Seven Trials, there should be even more severe trials waiting for you.” After a pause, the Devouring Dragon King gravely added, “As the saying goes, ‘with greater power comes greater responsibility’. If you obtain its carcass, you’ll very likely have to shoulder some things you can’t bear. Rationally speaking, I will advise you to give up. After all, what use this carcass would be to you is still unknown. You needn’t risk danger to participate in its Seven Trials, let alone face whatever the Frost Dragon King has in mind waiting for you after the Seven Trials.”

“If you were me, after obtaining the Frost Dragon King carcass, I could devour it and gain some of the Frost Dragon King’s abilities and Skills. That would be reason enough to participate in its Seven Trials. Unfortunately, you can’t get stronger through the same method as me. You don’t even know what use obtaining its carcass would serve. So, I would advise you to give up and obediently leave this place.”

The Devouring Dragon King’s words would naturally not be dismissed by Lu Fan as mere background noise.

Lu Fan carefully considered the pros and cons involved and suddenly smiled, saying, “If I don’t participate in its Seven Trials, when you regain your freedom later, won’t you come back and try to pass this trial to obtain the carcass instead? I remember that although you can use Ice Element Skills, these Skills should come from a Two Headed Dragon rather than an orthodox Frost Dragon. So, this carcass would be invaluable to you.”

The Devouring Dragon King remained silent for a while, essentially acknowledging this.

However, she spoke again to explain. “Whether you believe it or not, I’m actually genuinely considering this from your perspective. These Seven Trials aren’t really something for you to participate in.”

Lu Fan nodded and said, “Don’t worry, what I said just now was merely speculation. As I mentioned before, we’ve fought side by side, and we should trust each other more. I know you want its carcass, and I also know that when you advised me not to participate in the Seven Trials, it was not just for your own consideration.”

Speaking to this point, Lu Fan smiled slightly and said, “You say I have no reason to participate in the Seven Trials, but actually, I think I do. The world is still at peace now, but the Blood Moon’s Owner is gradually awakening, making me feel increasingly uneasy.”

“If there’s someone in this world who can oppose the Blood Moon’s Owner, or even the Ancient Gods, I would be at ease. But so far, I think only I can do it. After all, compared to the Ancient Gods, the rest of Humanity is still far too weak.”

“Therefore, I need to quickly get stronger. Although I don’t know what use its remains would be to me, my intuition tells me that obtaining it will definitely bring tremendous benefits. Also, don’t worry. Later I’ll find a way to share some of its flesh and blood with you. I remember that you only need a small amount of Dragon Flesh and Blood to acquire their characteristics and Skills, right?”

“This is such a large Dragon Carcass. Sharing some with you shouldn’t be a problem. But I can’t let you have that large a portion since I’m going to do all the work.”

The Devouring Dragon King never expected Lu Fan would say such things.

He had seen through the Devouring Dragon King’s desire for the Frost Dragon King carcass, yet did not treat her as an enemy. Instead, he still wanted to share some with her.

Such behaviour undoubtedly further drew the Devouring Dragon King and Lu Fan closer, eliminating the wariness between them.

The Devouring Dragon King remained speechless for a while, then suddenly spoke in a gentle tone, laughing. “You… I’m finding it harder to understand what you’re thinking.”
