Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 709, New Promise

From the tone in the Devouring Dragon King’s voice, it seemed she was genuinely angry.

Lu Fan clicked his tongue, and after a moment, he smiled self-deprecatingly before uttering words that even the Devouring Dragon King had not expected. “I’m sorry.”

“You… What are you apologising to me for?” The Devouring Dragon King’s tone had not softened.

Lu Fan smiled bitterly. “I apologise for not trusting you.”

“Actually, I’ve been thinking about it. We two have been together for such a long time now. We’ve been through quite a few battles together, whether against the Blade Armour Dragon King projection, or against Divine Bone. Even when you did not appear, you at least stayed by my side, giving me counsel and advice, telling me many things.”

“When I calculate it all up, we’re comrades-in-arms, aren’t we? Since we’re comrades-in-arms, and moreover comrades whose fates are bound together, I really shouldn’t hold such suspicion over you. If I can’t trust you, I might as well quickly get you to help me fight two more times, deal with some powerful enemies, let me Level Up quickly, and then we part ways.”

“But, when I think about it, when I encounter some troubles, having you, a Senior, pointing things out from the side really does help. As long as you’re here, I feel like I have a trump card in my hand. Even if I encounter Fifth Profession or even Sixth Profession Players, I have nothing to fear.”

“Honestly speaking, I’m just being too guarded against you. Although this isn’t a bad thing, it’s not really a good thing either. The enemies I’m about to face are Ancient Gods. If I can’t trust you one hundred percent, I’m afraid I’ll never be able to resolve troublesome entities like the Ancient Gods. So, I apologise for my previous distrust of you. Since I want you to help me deal with the Blood Moon’s Owner, we should help each other.”

“Don’t worry, after finding the Frost Dragon Ruins and completing the Mission, I’ll return to Shadow Isle to get a Life Seed from the Life Dragon King. Once you’ve recovered most of your strength, we’ll go kill the Blood Moon’s Owner. At that time, our agreement will only lack one final assistance from you. When I find a suitable opportunity, I’ll have you act once more, and then the contract between us can be dissolved.”

After pausing, Lu Fan thought for a moment before saying. “But, after our contract is dissolved, I still have a few requests.”

“Hunting Giant Dragons is purely due to your Racial Characteristics. I have no right to stop you in this regard. Moreover, although I’m a Dragon Tamer and have feelings for Giant Dragons, I cannot demand a Dragon specifically born for devouring other Giant Dragons not to act as you were made to. But you absolutely mustn’t bring harm to the Human Race. Of course, most importantly, you can never harm my Pet Dragons. These are my only requirements for you. After we part ways in the future, as long as you can do this, that’s enough.”

Lu Fan saying so much in one breath completely caught the Devouring Dragon King off guard.

After a long silence, the Devouring Dragon King’s tone was obviously much gentler, while also carrying extremely complex emotions. “You’re really talkative today. I even feel like you’re no longer yourself.”

Lu Fan smiled. “Not like myself? Actually, this is the real me. I don’t like scheming and plotting either. If possible, I’d want to get along with everyone like I do with Auntie, Xiao Qiu, Tao Zi, and Jian Ying . I don’t want there to be any hidden thoughts between us. Constantly worrying about this and that is too exhausting.”

“By the way, don’t change the subject. Do you agree with what I just said? If you can guarantee you will not harm the Human Race and won’t hunt my Pet Dragons, I can help you get a Life Seed.”

The Devouring Dragon King replied with a mocking laugh. “If I promise now, will I really not do it in the future? You shouldn’t be such a fool, right?”

Lu Fan said. “If you really deceive me, then there’s nothing I can do about it. The Blood Moon’s Owner must be dealt with. We can’t wait until it becomes a disaster before handling it, right? Also, you’re the only one I can count on. Whether to trust you is a big gamble. A gamble that I must take.”

The Devouring Dragon King asked/ “Then what makes you think you’ll definitely win this gamble?”

Lu Fan denied. “Definitely win? There is no ‘definite’ here. But we’ve been together for so long. Why not place my bet on you this once?”

“Hehehe…” The Devouring Dragon King laughed inexplicably. After a long while, she said leisurely. “Well then, since that’s the case, I’ll agree to it. You help me get the Life Seed, I’ll help you kill the Ancient God’s Mount.”

Hearing this, Lu Fan’s heart leaped with joy, and he asked. “Does this mean my gamble was the right call?”

The Devouring Dragon King did not respond, but laughed. “Won’t you know in the future?”

“…” Lu Fan fell silent.

According to her attitude, it was clear that even if Lu Fan gave her the Life Seed, whether she would attack the Human Race or hunt his Pet Dragons after recovering her strength in the future was still uncertain.

However, besides trusting her, Lu Fan really did not have any better methods.

Without the Devouring Dragon King’s assistance, trying to resist the Ancient God would be difficult…

Now, Lu Fan could only hope that the Devouring Dragon King was not completely evil.

When Lu Fan was communicating with her, he relied entirely on spiritual connection.

So to Lui Fei and Lu Changkong’s eyes, Lu Fan was just gazing at the Blood Moon’s Owner in deep thought.

Seeing that Lu Fan had been standing there for a while, Lui Fei could not help but move forward. “Lu Fan, if you want to understand more about the Blood Moon’s Owner, you could actually ask General Tu for the Griffin Legion’s observation records from these past days. Also, this place isn’t safe. You don’t need to focus too much attention on the Blood Moon’s Owner. After seeing Shen Cai, we should hurry back.”

Lu Fan snapped back to reality and nodded. “Sure. Please take me to see her grave.”

“En.”

Lu Changkong and Lui Fei led Lu Fan deeper into the Far North for about several hundred metres before stopping.

This was Shen Cai’s grave.

Calling it a grave was a little much. It was just a pile of snow, without even a gravestone.

In the harsh environment of the Far North, erecting a gravestone would be useless as snow keeps falling here, and it would not be long before the gravestone would be buried.

What was worth noting was that Lu Fan found this place very familiar. After thinking about it, he remembered exactly where this was.

“Is this where Li Luo was buried?” Lu Fan asked.
