Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 710, Hell Related Jokes

This was not in the outer periphery of the Far North. Rather, it was within its depths.

Lu Fan could still see beside him the remains of an outpost that had long since been shattered into fragments, mostly buried beneath the snow.

However, traces of battle still remained here, allowing Lu Fan to recognise this as the place where he had once killed Li Luo.

Lu Changkong nodded and said. “Yes, that’s right. This is where Li Luo was buried. Shen Cai did not die here, but before her death, she said she wanted to be buried together with him.”

“She should have been brought back to Dragon Country and given a proper burial according to the standards befitting a fallen soldier. But in the end, we decided to respect her wishes and bury her here. From what we know, she did not have any Family members. In a way, Li Luo was her only relative. Being buried together with him might be what she most desired.”

Lui Fei nodded, saying from the side. “Yes, I believe that’s the case.”

Pausing, he continued. “What a pity. The wind and snow here is just too fierce. We can hardly find the small grave mound where we originally buried Li Luo. So, we could only rely on memory to bury Shen Cai in roughly the same area. She should be not far from Li Luo. That way, if she wants to find Li Luo, Shen Cai should be able to, right?”

As he spoke, Lui Fei even managed a laugh.

This sort of Hell related jokes could only serve to provide bitter amusement in such circumstances.

Lu Fan did not say much, as he felt what Lu Changkong and Lui Fei did made complete sense. If he had been present at the time, he would certainly have done the same.

Originally, when Lu Fan came to the Far North, he had brought several bottles of delicious wine for Tu Jing.

He was thinking about whether he should pour out a bottle for Shen Cai, so that she and Li Luo could have a mouthful of strong liquor to warm themselves even in this world of ice and snow.

However, Lu Changkong said that Shen Cai did not drink alcohol, and in fact hated drinking.

Sometimes when they went on Missions together, when Lu Changkong and Lui Fei brought some alcohol as something to warm themselves, they would be reprimanded by Shen Cai.

This dispelled Lu Fan’s wish of pouring out a bottle of wine for Shen Cai.

[Since she did not like drinking, I couldn’t possibly force alcohol on her, could I?] But at the same time, Lu Fan hadn’t prepared any to commemorate her.

So Lu Fan simply stood in the Far North for a while, treating it as a memorial.

After about half an hour, Lu Changkong re-established an outpost here to make it convenient for everyone to come and pay respects in the future. Only then did Lu Fan leave with them, returning to the base camp.

After returning, Lu Fan noticed that both Lu Changkong and Lui Fei showed signs of fatigue. He realised they had just returned from completing an Exploration Mission and needed rest.

Therefore, Lu Fan told them to return to camp early to rest, and that he would go find Tu Jing by himself.

Lu Changkong and Lui Fei knew that Lu Fan was familiar with the base camp and did not need them to guide him, so they agreed and went back to rest.

Lu Fan pinned the Gold Wing Medal to his chest and basically travelled unimpeded through the camp, encountering no obstacles whatsoever.

Every Griffin Legion member who saw Lu Fan would salute him with the courtesy due to his superior rank, which made Lu Fan somewhat uncomfortable. After all, he had never received training in military salutes and had no way of returning them with the same confident flair as official Griffin Legion members.

After all, the subordinates were saluting crisply and powerfully, full of strength. In contrast, when the superior returned the salute, it was inexperienced, showing none of the bearing of a well-trained soldier. This was rather inappropriate by any measure.

Although Lu Fan knew in his heart that this was improper, as he walked along and Griffin Legion members kept saluting him, it would be equally inappropriate not to return their salutes.

Just like this, Lu Fan made his way to Tu Jing’s residence, where he was stopped by Tu Jing’s adjutant.

Tu Jing’s adjutant had long known of Lu Fan’s arrival.

Seeing Lu Fan come, he led Lu Fan to the second floor, to Tu Jing’s study.

Previously, this study had always been where Lu Fan resided while here. After Lu Fan left, it naturally reverted to being Tu Jing’s office.

Entering the study, everything remained much the same as before. Tu Jing, in a vest, was still processing mountains of documents just as before.

It seemed that because the Blood Moon’s Owner’s awakening was drawing ever closer, the Griffin Legion needed to monitor and supervise it carefully. Tu Jing naturally received many reports on it each day. Correspondingly, Tu Jing’s workload had increased considerably.

Although busier than before, Tu Jing’s spirits remained excellent. Looking up to see Lu Fan’s arrival, his face showed a smile as he set aside his work and said. “Welcome back! You sure took your time to come over. I trust you’ve already paid your respect to Shen Cai?”

Lu Fan nodded. After casually closing the door, he sat opposite Tu Jing and said. “I went with Brother Lu and Brother Lui to have a look at Shen Cai’s resting place. It had delayed things a little.”

“No matter. I knew you would definitely go see Shen Cai.” Tu Jing waved his hand. “You fought together for a period of time. Something like this happening would certainly affect you. But I still must remind you that life and death partings are all too common in the military. This is despite us still being in peacetime. If this were wartime, such things would happen far too frequently. So frequently you’d become numb to them. So, I hope what happened to Shen Cai won’t have that much of an impact on you.”

Lu Fan nodded. “No issues. It just makes me want to get stronger and make the Blood Moon’s Owner disappear from this world forever!”

“Hehe, what a great mindset to have.” Tu Jing chuckled, then pointed to his desk. “Also, those treasures you brought me, don’t just keep hiding them. Also, don’t tell me you brought nothing. That girl from the Ye Family told me that before coming here, you got several bottles of aged wine from her. I know they are meant to be delivered to me, right?”

Lu Fan laughed, taking out the fine wine from his Inventory one by one. “Apart from bringing it for you, who else could it be for? But there are just these few bottles. Drink them sparingly.”

Tu Jing’s eyes immediately lit up. “It was not a mistake to treat you well. Excellent, excellent! You’re really thoughtful…”

As he spoke, he picked up a bottle and tilted his head back to drink.

Tu Jing drained the entire bottle in one go. After satisfying his craving for alcohol, he carefully put away the other bottles and began discussing serious matters with Lu Fan.
