Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 737, Protecting Those I Love

“Don’t understand why I’m actively thinking about sharing the carcass with you?” Lu Fan asked with a smile.

The Devouring Dragon King replied. “That’s certainly one thing. There’s also the fact that I feel, given your personality, you couldn’t possibly take on the responsibility of saving Humanity. If you could, you’d probably prefer to become the strongest person in this world, then forever stay on Shadow Isle with those beautiful girlfriends of yours.”

“Girlfriends!?” Lu Fan found the Devouring Dragon King’s description somewhat amusing.

He thought for a moment, did not object to anything, and nodded. “You’re not wrong. If there could only be one reclusive expert hiding from the world, that would definitely be me.”

“Actually, I do not really wish to seek power. My desire to become stronger is only because I hope I can let myself and those I love live better lives, where no one can deprive us of that lifestyle. That is just how this world works. I have to get strong to protect those important to me, or others would just take advantage of me.”

“Now, I seem to have already achieved this life goal of mine. If possible, I could even return to Shadow Isle right now and, unless absolutely necessary, never show my face in the world again, until everyone in this world forgets that there’s a Dragon Tamer. That is indeed the life I wish for, but,” at this point, Lu Fan’s tone changed, “something that is out of reach. This kind of life isn’t something I can maintain forever. If the Ancient Gods are truly that terrifying, enough to threaten the whole world, then they will inevitably harm the Human Race and take away the life I so wish to protect.”

“Back then, Elder Han once asked me if I was willing to fight for Dragon Country, to become Dragon Country’s Hero and slay all invading enemies. My answer to him at the time was that I wasn’t willing. So, although Elder Han gave me the Gold Wing Medal, he didn’t give me any real authority.”

“But now, this is no longer about whether I want to be a Hero or not, but whether I can save Humanity. I am, after all, still Human. Those I love are also Human. How could I close my eyes and do nothing when Humanity is at stake?”

“The soldiers guarding the borders are the same. Who among them wants to endure so much hardship, risk death, and guard the border? Isn’t it because behind them, there are people they want to protect? And now, I’ve reached the point where I need to make such a choice. I’m not doing this to protect Humanity; I just want to protect the people I want to protect. Even if I am not Dragon Country’s Hero, I must become Humanity’s Spark of hope!”

These words made even the Devouring Dragon King feelings stir.

Although she did not really understand why Lu Fan made such a choice, she knew that Lu Fan’s current urgency to get stronger was not because he had some grand ambition or noble character.

He was just an ordinary person who simply wanted to protect those he wanted to protect.

After a long while, the Devouring Dragon King finally chuckled and said. “These grand principles you’re stating are things I might not necessarily understand. I only know that if the Ancient Gods really awaken, I’ll definitely carve out a Secret Realm to hide and avoid their purge. As for the life and death of others, what does that have to do with me?”

“Forget it, I can’t be bothered to discuss these illusory things with you. Anyway, since you want to try the Seven Trials, then go ahead. You already said you’d give me a piece of Frost Dragon King carcass to devour. That’s enough for me.”

“Good.” Lu Fan nodded and asked with a smile, “Then during the Seven Trials, if I encounter any difficulties, you’ll help me, right? After all, if I get its remains, that benefits you too.”

“Nonsense!” The Devouring Dragon King’s tone sounded as if she found Lu Fan’s question idiotic. “If you die, I die too. Since you insist on participating in the Seven Trials, then at those critical moments, what else can I do besides help!?”

“Alright, alright.” Lu Fan was also afraid of angering this temperamental being. Seeing that she agreed to help, he felt reassured and prepared to enter the Secret Realm to participate in the Seven Trials.

For safety’s sake, Lu Fan did not ride any Pet Dragon but directly transformed into his Golden Dragon King Form.

In terms of Defence, naturally his Golden Dragon King Form had the highest Defence; other Pet Dragons simply could not compare.

He was going to face the Seven Trials, Secret Realms that sounded extremely dangerous just from their name. Lu Fan knew he could not be careless. If worst came to worst, he could still use Golden Dragon King Form to Tank sudden incoming attacks, which was far better than Riding a Pet Dragon in and exposing them to danger.

After thinking, Lu Fan summoned Xiao Cui and Ji Ji, these two Support Specialised Dragons.

These two were practically Immortal, so there was no need to worry about danger befalling them.

Especially Xiao Cui, who could transform into her Soul Light Form and attach herself to Lu Fan, doubling Lu Fan’s Attributes.

After preparing everything, Lu Fan began deciding which Secret Realm he should enter first.

The Seven Secret Realms should each have different contents. If possible, he wanted to find a relatively simple one first to test just how deep the waters of the Seven Trials were.

After hesitating for a long time, Lu Fan finally chose the Secret Realm gate that opened on the Frost Dragon King’s left claw.

The two Secret Realm gates at the Dragon Head and Dragon Tail, those should be rather special, so Lu Fan did not dare choose them first.

On the Frost Dragon King’s four Dragon Claws, there were Secret Realm gates open. These four Secret Realm gates might have certain similarities. So, if he could clear one, the other three might also be relatively easy to clear.

With this thought, Lu Fan transformed and dove headfirst into the Transport Array.

After experiencing distortions in Space, the scenery around Lu Fan changed. In the blink of an eye, he was transported into a Secret Realm filled with wind and snow.

This Map was not particularly large, roughly equivalent to the space beneath the ice layer where the Frost Dragon King carcass was stored. However, there was clearly mist shrouding the area ahead, which even Lu Fan’s Black Dragon Perception could not see through.

This mist only existed ahead, while a large area around Lu Fan had no mist at all.

There was only endless wind and snow.

Just as Lu Fan yet to have the time to examine what Missions existed in this Secret Realm and how large the Map was, a tremendous roar rang out not far in front of him.

Immediately after, a scene that left him stunned appeared before his eyes.
