Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 747, Deceived by You

Falling from mid-air, Lu Fan hit the ground with considerable force.

Fortunately, although Lu Fan no longer had the protection of the Little Blade Armour Dragon King, his Endurance Attribute was not low, so this fall did not add injury to his already batted body.

Nevertheless, Lu Fan grimaced in pain for a while, then turned his head toward the direction where the Frost Dragon King lay, checking whether his full-powered Fury of All Dragons strike had finally killed it.

Compared to when he had previously used Fury of All Dragons against the Devouring Dragon King, Lu Fan now had two additional Pet Dragons, Ji Ji and the Little Blade Armour Dragon King. Therefore, the power of Fury of All Dragons was even stronger than when he had faced the Devouring Dragon King.

The heavily injured Devouring Dragon King had not been able to withstand the power of Fury of All Dragons, so the Frost Dragon King before him should not be able to endure an even more powerful Fury of All Dragons either.

As Lu Fan thought this, his gaze fell upon the Frost Dragon King.

To his relief, the Frost Dragon King was indeed prostrate on the ground, showing no signs of life.

It seemed the Frost Dragon King had indeed perished under the previous Fury of All Dragons.

With this realisation, Lu Fan finally felt at ease.

However, just as Lu Fan had barely caught his breath, the previously motionless Frost Dragon King actually moved slightly.

Lu Fan immediately felt his heartbeat skip half a beat.

After the Frost Dragon King moved, its massive body actually began to slowly and laboriously climb to its feet!

It was clear that it was severely injured. Half of its body was missing, obviously ground away by the Fury of All Dragons.

Yet such grievous wounds still had not killed it!

Its body trembling, it supported itself as it stood and crawled toward Lu Fan.

At the same time, it let out a weak Dragon Roar from its mouth, accumulating energy for a Skill. It appeared to be preparing to give Lu Fan a Dragon Breath to finish him off.

[Even that didn’t kill it!?] Lu Fan was about to go mad.

He currently had neither Xiao Zuo nor Xiao You on him, and certainly no Little Blade Armour Dragon King. With only his Base Attributes, he was nowhere near capable of contending with an existence like the Frost Dragon King.

Even though his opponent was severely wounded and nearly dead, a single Dragon Breath would be more than enough to kill him, powerless as he was!

[Damn it! I’m about to fail the Seven Trials. I need to at least preserve my life…] Lu Fan struggled to move his fingers, wanting to draw a Transport Array back to Shadow Isle.

Unfortunately, he currently had no strength left in his body. Even drawing a Transport Array was now extremely difficult.

Just as Lu Fan was desperately trying to find a way to resolve his current predicament, the Frost Dragon King suddenly let out a mournful cry from its mouth, and the Dragon Breath it had been brewing actually dissipated.

Then, its massive body collapsed, causing the ice surface below to violently tremble.

Lu Fan was immediately stunned. He looked at the Frost Dragon King again and discovered that the movement from its body was growing weaker and weaker, its breathing gradually approaching nothing. Finally, like a massive iceberg, it completely stilled.

[Had it… died!?]

It was only after a long while, when Lu Fan noticed that his Mission Panel had refreshed with a notification of Mission Completion, that he dared confirm the Frost Dragon King was indeed dead.

Only then did he breathe a sigh of relief, cursing under his breath that this Frost Dragon King was truly frightening. [To think it had even managed to ‘play dead’ just before it died and gave me a heart attack when it rose…]

At the same time, however, he also knew that his victory was largely due to luck.

If his Fury of All Dragons had been slightly less powerful, the Frost Dragon King might have successfully ‘played dead’, then finished him off with a single Dragon Breath.

Indeed, the Fury of All Dragons was far too much of a desperate gambit.

After that close call, Lu Fan seriously considered whether he should continue using this Skill in future.

Although the Skill was indeed very powerful, the key issue was that once used, he could only let others have their way with him.

Lu Fan did not like this feeling of placing his fate in others’ hands. He decided that unless he found some way to protect himself afterwards, he would never again easily use this Skill again.

With the Frost Dragon King’s death, Lu Fan had completely Cleared the Seven Trials. In the Secret Realm, there was now a Transport Array available for Lu Fan to leave.

However, due to the lingering effects of the Fury of All Dragons, Lu Fan could not move at all. He simply lay flat on his back and rested like that, planning to leave when he had recovered enough.

The Devouring Dragon King naturally sensed this as well. Moreover, with the contract now signed between the Human and Dragon, the Devouring Dragon King could clearly understand Lu Fan’s current condition.

She snorted coldly and could not help mocking. “So, after you used this Skill, you were already at the end of your rope. To think I was actually deceived by you. If I had known your physical condition was so poor after using this Skill, I should have killed you with a single strike!”

Lu Fan chuckled, not even bothering to move his eyelids, communicating through their spiritual connection. “This is called the Empty Fort Strategy. Back then, in our battle, you survived my Fury of All Dragons. Strictly speaking, you did indeed win. But I maintained a strong front throughout, never letting you see that I actually no longer had the strength to continue fighting. Although you were tricked by me, when it comes down to it, victory and defeat only matter in the results. Nothing else has any meaning to it, doesn’t it?”

“Moreover, you became my Pet Dragon. Apart from the status not sounding particularly good when spoken aloud, you haven’t been treated poorly otherwise, have you? For now, just let me rest a bit. Then, I’ll go out and see if the Ice Crystal Coffin has been cracked. If it has, I’ll find a way to get you some of the Frost Dragon King’s flesh and blood to you, and make you stronger.”

The Devouring Dragon King huffed but did not say much more.

Lu Fan’s earlier deception had indeed made her quite displeased, but what Lu Fan said also made sense.

If it were not for Lu Fan, her injuries would not have healed up so quickly.

Between the two of them, this was a mutually beneficial relation.

Lu Fan rested for a full half hour before gradually recovering.

On his Pet Panel, all his Pet Dragons were dimmed, proving they were still too exhausted to be summoned for the time being.

However, one Pet Dragon’s avatar was lit up, which was Xiao Cui.

Xiao Cui’s characteristics were extremely special, recovering faster than the other Pet Dragons, which was understandable.

Lu Fan directly summoned Xiao Cui and had her apply a full set of Buffs to him.

Combined with eating some Enchanted Food that Han Ke had made, his Stamina recovered to about twenty percent. Now, simple movement was not an issue.
