Worthless Profession: Dragon Tamer

Chapter 733, True Location

Translator: Silavin

Lu Fan recalled the scene of numerous Frost Dragon Gaseous Corpses emerging all at once.

[Could it be… that the Frost Dragon Ruins is actually hidden beneath the ice!?] As soon as this thought emerged, Lu Fan instantly felt an overwhelming sense of realisation, like everything could now be explained.

[So, it is not that the Frost Dragon Ruins is missing; rather, the whole ruins had been buried beneath the ice! No wonder! No wonder after searching through every centimetre, I still couldn’t find any trace of it. No wonder Frost Dragon Gaseous Corpses are coming up from beneath the ground. If the Frost Dragon Ruins lay beneath the surface, then everything made perfect sense.]

In short, the Frost Dragon Ruins was undoubtedly where the Frost Dragon Gaseous Corpse appeared most frequently.

Having figured this out, Lu Fan immediately mounted Bao Bao and retraced back his steps from memory, found the location where Frost Dragon Gaseous Corpses appeared most.

After clearing away several newly respawned Frost Dragon Gaseous Corpse, Lu Fan became increasingly convinced that if the Frost Dragon Ruins truly existed, it must be directly beneath this spot.

He examined the ice layer. It was a vast expanse of white with no indication of its thickness. There was certainly no way to discern whether anything truly existed beneath the ice.

To uncover the truth, the only method was to break through the ice layer and see what lay beneath.

Lu Fan thought for a moment, drew an Array, and summoned Xiao Ye.

Breaking through ice naturally required them to use a Fire Element Skill.

Xiao Ye was the perfect Dragon for this.

“Xiao Ye, use Lava Blaze and burn through the ice below!” Lu Fan commanded.

Xiao Ye accepted the command, flames brewing in her mouth before erupting forth.

Massive flames carrying intense heat burst out, landing on the ice layer and immediately causing vast clouds of water vapour to rise.

Simultaneously, the ice began melting at a visible rate, creating a depression as it sank downward.

However, this scene did not bring Lu Fan any joy.

The rate of melting was obviously much slower than he had anticipated.

[This thick layer of ice will be a problem! Its hardness far exceeds that of any ordinary ice.]

Xiao Ye’s flames were Dragon Language Magic. The temperature was astonishingly high.

Previously in the Far North, when it had unleashed a single Great Cataclysm, all the accumulated snow and ice would completely dissolve.

Yet, with Lava Blaze pouring onto this current layer of ice, while the ice did melt, it was frustratingly slow. At this rate, if the ice layer was a hundred metres thick, Xiao Ye would need to keep using Skill to burn it off for an extremely long time.

[Is Lava Blaze just too weak to break through?] Lu Fan considered this, then had Xiao Ye transform into her Destruction Dragon Form and directly unleash Great Cataclysm.

The result: though the Great Cataclysm flames burned continuously, the melting speed remained maddeningly slow.

This left Xiao Ye feeling somewhat defeated. She ceased releasing Skills and approached Lu Fan, lowering her head like a child who had done something wrong.

Such an expression naturally prevented Lu Fan from harboring any thoughts of blame.

Lu Fan stroked her head, pacifying. “It’s alright, there’s something wrong with this ice. It’s not your fault. This is most likely where the Frost Dragon Ruins is. This might be a Map Mechanics left by an Eternal Phase Giant Dragon. You’re still young; it’s perfectly normal that you can’t oppose the Map Mechanics.”

Xiao Ye naturally understood what Lu Fan was trying to do. She called out “Ang ang ang” several times and seemed a little happier.

Nevertheless, the difficult problem remained before them. How were they to break through this ice layer?

Lu Fan even considered having all his Pet Dragons emerge and unleash their strongest Skills to directly bombard it.

For instance, Xing Chen’s Twelve Billion Neutron Star Annihilation. When her true strength was fully unleashed, surely it could carve away several hundred metres of ice, right?

However, after consideration, Lu Fan abandoned this idea.

Because who knew what lay beneath this ice?

If some Monster existed below, and his Pet Dragons had just finished releasing powerful Skills, they would inevitably have to recover for a bit, making them vulnerable to sneak attacks from these Monsters.

Therefore, he could only employ a more reliable method to break the ice.

After thinking, Lu Fan recalled the scene when he first encountered the Flame Dragon in the Valley of Life.

The Flame Dragon had grasped those peculiar Monsters and, with a single Skill, directly burnt them to ashes. That scene was so shocking that Lu Fan could still vividly remember it.

Moreover, being a Giant Dragon specialising in the Fire Element, Flame would be perfectly suited for breaking the ice.

With this thought, Lu Fan retrieved his Dragon Scale.

This item was offered with unlimited refills, so Lu Fan had no need to be stingy in its usage.

Originally, his greatest advantage in coming to the Frost Dragon Ruins was precisely an Eternal Phase Giant Dragon, like the Flame Dragon.

Lu Fan crushed the Dragon Scale, which immediately transformed into an enormous Transport Array.

The other end of the Transport Array naturally connected to Shadow Isle.

The Flame Dragon emerged from the Transport Array, still grasping a Sea Monster’s tentacle in his claws, eating with great relish. He was clearly in the middle of feeding.

“Dragon Tamer? Do you have something that requires my assistance?” After exploring with his head, the Flame Dragon could not help but shudder. “Where are you? It’s so cold here. I hate this kind of weather.”

Lu Fan found this both amusing and exasperating. He explained the situation, informing the Flame Dragon why he was here.

Hearing that Lu Fan had indeed encountered some difficulties, the Flame Dragon set aside his food and squeezed through the Transport Array. After folding his wings and carefully sensing the surroundings, he said: “Indeed, there’s an aura I find distasteful. A Frost Dragon once existed here. We Flame Dragons and Frost Dragons have never gotten along, so I’m quite sensitive to the aura of their Clansmen. I can sense that your speculation is correct. That Frost Dragon should be beneath the ice layer.”

“Frost Dragons possess many Skills that can use ice to seal their own bodies, allowing their carcasses to remain undecayed for years even after death. You’re very likely standing directly atop a Frost Dragon’s carcass.”

Hearing the Flame Dragon’s confirmation brought Lu Fan both great joy and some disappointment.

Because according to his explanation, this Frost Dragon should be dead, leaving him no opportunity to Tame it.

However, at least he still had the chance to obtain its carcass.

Every part of a Dragon’s body was a treasure; a Giant Dragon’s carcass was still beneficial to him.

“In that case,” Lu Fan asked tentatively, “my Pet Dragons find it very difficult to break through the ice below. Could you help me melt this ice and let me find the Frost Dragon Ruins?”

Lu Fan was actually somewhat worried that having him excavate the carcass of a fellow Giant Dragon might displease the Flame Dragon.
