I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 597 - 580: Instilling Ideas
Chapter 597: Chapter 580: Instilling Ideas

If they really could be self-sufficient and not live in constant worry about the next meal like they do now, unsure if they will be full or not, they would certainly learn diligently from her.

Mu Ying pointed at the three beef cows that the Beastmen had dragged back and were currently butchering and said, ”Look at these cows, with enough grass, they can grow from calves into their current size within a year. If I give you a small herd of cows and teach you how to take care of the pasture and raise them, then the adult cows will have calves, and the herd will keep growing. As long as you ensure that about a thousand calves are born each year, you would have three adult cows to eat every day.”

”This is called self-sufficiency; your source of food will no longer be the uncertain hunt in the wild. You will have control over the cows, and as long as there are enough of them, you won’t need to hunt to have enough meat to eat.”

The Beastmen were all captivated by the scenario she described.

”Raise cows?”

”Can we really do that?”

”Have three big cows to eat every day?”

A strong desire blazed in Taiger’s eyes, ”We want to learn! Please teach us! I will immediately send members of our tribe to the people of other tribes to come over. Can we send more members to learn from you?”

Since they wanted to learn, it’s better to learn more from the start!

Mu Ying, of course, hoped that more people would come to learn, but she couldn’t make it too easy for them either.

”If you can bring representatives of the other tribes’ Beastmen to me within three months, I will not only teach all the people of your tribe, but also give your tribe a thousand calves when I leave the wilderness.”

In fact, she had already prepared breeding cattle, seeds, and various tools for each tribe.

Of course, there wouldn’t be enough to supply an entire tribe all at once.

If the Tiger Clan Beastmen help a lot, it’s right that they should be treated favorably.

”Three months?” Taiger was a bit troubled, ”Persuading them is actually not difficult, but some Beastmen are slow movers. To bring them all here in such a short time, we would almost have to send out most of the young and strong individuals in our tribe. But we still have young cubs and the elderly to take care of... ”

”If you trust me,” Mu Ying said, ”during this period, all the Beastmen who stay behind can come with me to the wilderness to learn. I will provide them with enough food. In fact, young cubs have the strongest ability to learn, especially when it comes to learning a new Language, where they have an advantage.”

If the Beastmen weren’t so secluded from information, she could have gained their trust through signed agreements, but they didn’t understand what a contract was.

Of course, Taiger wasn’t comfortable leaving only the old and the young, but if this person really wanted to harm them, she wouldn’t have to go through so much trouble. If she had been a bit rougher earlier, their tribe would have been finished long ago.

After much deliberation, he agreed but requested to follow her and observe for a few days before leaving.

Mu Ying had been ready to say that if they were unwilling, she would relax the conditions a bit, as long as they could gather the Beastmen from the other tribes as quickly as possible.

She didn’t expect the leader of the Tiger Clan Beastmen to agree so readily.

”Then have a good meal first, fill yourselves up, then follow me out of the forest and go to the wilderness outside,” Mu Ying said.

The Tiger Clan Beastmen quickly set up a bonfire in the tribe, tore the beef into large chunks with their claws, skewered them on branches, and started roasting.

As carnivorous Beastmen, they were also accustomed to eating cooked food, but their cooking method was very primitive: skewer it and roast it over the fire without any seasonings, eating it as soon as it was done enough to be no longer raw.

Their method of starting a fire was also primitive, using friction to create fire with wood.

Taiger brought Mu Ying a piece of grilled meat and told her to eat, but Mu Ying shook her head to indicate she wasn’t hungry.

She really wasn’t fond of meat without any seasoning.

The Beastmen were truly famished after not having eaten their fill for a month; they consumed the meat like a whirlwind sweeping through the remains of a feast.

There was too much meat from three cows, as Mu Ying had calculated based on the appetite of an adult Beastman, but the young and the old Beastmen could not eat that much at all.

However, wasting meat was shameful for the Beastmen. Having had a full meal, they could sustain their energy even if they didn’t eat a single grain over the next few days. They forced themselves to finish all three cows, to the point where they felt almost light-headed.

Afterward, Mu Ying led them out of the forest.

The tribe’s construction had only been halfway done, so they simply abandoned it and moved away.

Upon leaving the forest, the Tiger Clan Beastmen were dumbfounded, suspecting their own eyes: ”Is this the wasteland?”

”This is the wasteland I have nourished, now fertile again. The green grass you see are the fast-growing forage I have accelerated, which the cows are fond of,” Mu Ying said.

She built several large stone houses using the Stone Wall Skill: ”For now, those who stay behind will live here. Rest for today, and tomorrow we’ll officially start teaching.”

The Beastmen patted the solid house in amazement but held back their comments, having already said enough for today.

”Is this also an ability of that Profession, the Druid?” Taiger asked.

Mu Ying nodded.

Taiger became even more determined that his people must study diligently under Mu Ying’s guidance.

If his tribe could learn these skills, they could heal injuries and build stronger settlements!

Early the next morning, Mu Ying took all the Beastmen to cut trees.

”We need these trees to make fences to enclose the area where we’re raising animals to prevent the loss of the herd,” Mu Ying took the opportunity to teach them the concept of sustainable development: ”However, trees are not infinite. The forest has provided for us and as we take from it, we must also learn to give back. I will teach you a simple propagation method. I hope that after you cut down trees, you will take the initiative to plant another one. If you only take without giving back, one day your descendants will have no more trees to cut, no firewood to burn. Even if you raise your cattle well and settle down here, continuous deforestation will force you to relocate due to destroyed forests.”

Regardless of whether the Beastmen understood at that moment, Mu Ying personally led them after cutting the trees to plant an equivalent number of saplings.

In the future, she would also teach them Language and would emphasize this point of view. Over time, they would surely start to understand. And even if they didn’t fully grasp it, she would instill this habit in them.

The first day was spent cutting and planting trees.

As promised, she provided them with three more beef cattle that evening.

However, she had noticed the previous day that the Beastmen had no method of preserving food. If they couldn’t eat all the meat, they would force themselves to finish it, or else it would just rot.

Today, after the Beastmen had slaughtered the cattle, Mu Ying instructed them to set aside only enough meat to satisfy their hunger. She taught them smoking techniques to preserve the meat’s shelf life.

Then, using Cooking Magic, she impressed them by grilling the meat for their meal today, adding some salt and spices.

The skill to preserve meat they couldn’t finish was already a source of immense joy for the Tiger Clan Beastmen, and the fragrant grilled meat nearly caused them to swallow their tongues in delight.
