I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 562 - 545: Probing the Snow Domain
Chapter 562: Chapter 545: Probing the Snow Domain

The magic flying carpet sped toward the northwest, and Mu Ying, feeling no sleepiness, took a book on Druid spell cultivation to read. The Witch’s Book floated beside her, and she occasionally noted down key information in it.

She had rented these books to refer to and improve the compilation of her own book, but unexpectedly, she learned new things herself.

These books not only discussed many Druid spell learning techniques but also included many usage strategies and spell combinations.

In previous battles with Atom and the others, Mu Ying had realized her shortcomings: she knew many spells, but she couldn’t always apply each spell proficiently in the right situation. Through continuous real battles and reflection, she was trying to improve.

At this moment, these books were indeed a treasure trove to her.

As the flying carpet traveled, she kept busy with her own things on it.

When tired from reading, she’d wrap herself in a blanket and take a short nap; when hungry, she’d cook something to eat; she did not neglect her daily trials either.

The flying speed of the magic flying carpet was very fast. In the past on Deep Blue Star, she could have reached the northwest region in just two days at full speed.

But now, with Deep Blue Star having merged many space fragments and increased in size, it took five days of continuous flight for Mu Ying to finally see the white snowfields in the distance.

Mu Ying added an elemental damage resistance spell to herself to combat the cold air of the snowfields and continued flying deeper into the Snow Domain.

The nearby terrain had undergone significant changes.

Before the apocalypse, the Northwest Highland suffered severe desertification with ravines crisscrossing and mountains, basins, and fault valleys interspersed with large altitude variations and a dry, cold climate with sparse vegetation.

After the apocalypse, a rain had revived the vegetation, bringing life back to the highland. The crisscrossing ravines were covered with flowers and grass, which had amazed her during her last visit.

Back then, the lush green grass and undulating ravines had a unique beauty, the setting sun cast a shallow golden layer on the grass, majestic yet gentle, with the perpetual snow of the Luoxia Mountain Range as the only exception.

But now, she had not even seen the shadow of the Luoxia Mountain Range, and the view was dominated by snowfields that had buried the once crisscrossing ravines, showing how much impact a year of diligent cultivation by the Cold Deer had on the environment.

Mu Ying also saw some people clad in warm clothes trudging through the snow, hunting Snow Beasts, some even riding dog-drawn sleds.

Clearly, although the environment had changed, the players who stayed had gradually adapted.

However, the land which had once regained vitality was now cut off from life again; no life survived under the snow.

Here, Mu Ying felt that her Guardian Armor was almost ineffective, and communicating with natural power was not as seamless as it was in Qingshan City, which made her uncomfortable.

Mu Ying just glanced and then paid no further attention; on this trip, her focus was not on people but on the Cold Deer.

Whether or not they were followers of the Cold Deer, she didn’t care, as she had never intended to confront the Cold Deer directly.

The magic flying carpet, invisible to those outside the witch community, was her natural shield.

The magic power of a witch was a cultivation system completely distinct from real-world professional abilities, and the concealment of magic power fluctuations was much stronger than in the Emerald World.

With such an advantage, she, of course, intended to make the most of it.

In short, the best scenario was to silently eliminate the Cold Deer without showing herself.

Upon arriving in the Snow Domain, the first thing Mu Ying did was to conduct a sweeping search of the entire area to familiarize herself with the terrain and look for traces of the Cold Deer.

Sometimes when she encountered Cold Deer running across the snowfields or saw groups casting spells to expand the Snow Domain, she didn’t act immediately but quietly marked them with a Magic Mark.

This way, she could keep track of the Cold Deer’s position at any time.

She was not a witch, and it was extremely difficult to perceive the presence of magic; the Cold Deer obviously could not detect anything unusual.

She was very patient, and as the days went by, the number of Cold Deer she found increased.

Only after she had traversed the entire Snow Domain did she follow the Cold Deer and find their main camp.

It used to be near the Snow Mountain Camp on Luoxia Mountain, where she discovered a large group of Cold Deer.

The number of Cold Deer had increased, and by quite a lot.

The last time she came here, there were only about thirty Cold Deer.

A Level 11 leader, three Level 10s, seventeen Level 9s, and nine Level 8s, all of them were in their prime.

But now, there were fifty Cold Deer here.

The leader was still Level 11, there were still three Level 10s, but the number of Level 9s had risen to twenty-six, and the remaining twenty were all young Cold Deer, Levels 3 and 4.

It seemed that the Cold Deer had channeled the strength gained from expanding the Snow Domain into those few Level 8 Cold Deer and the newly born little ones.

Mu Ying felt somewhat relieved that she was not too late; the overall strength of the Cold Deer had not increased significantly.

These twenty little Cold Deer didn’t pose any threat to her, and the leader’s strength hadn’t increased by much either.

The choice of the Cold Deer did not seem strange to Mu Ying.

Ice and Snow, a magic-like ability, was one of the Cold Deer’s most important abilities, specifically used to expand the Snow Domain; only Level 9 Cold Deer could perform it.

The Luoxia Valley filled with snow was the result of the Cold Deer’s spellcasting.

The more Level 9 Cold Deer there were, the faster they could expand the Snow Domain.

Mu Ying quietly continued to mark these Cold Deer with Magic Marks.

”Hmm?” Mu Ying curiously looked at the gathering of Cold Deer below.

When she marked the adult Cold Deer with Magic Marks, everything was normal, but when she attempted to mark the little Cold Deer, the marks missed and hit the snowy ground instead.

Was there something wrong with these little Cold Deer?

After careful observation, she realized that these seemingly well-protected little Cold Deer, always surrounded by the adults in the middle of the snowy area, had never actually made physical contact with the adult Cold Deer; they were just cuddling and playing with each other in the snow.

Shouldn’t the young at least approach their parents a bit?

Mu Ying recalled the Cold Deer data she had seen countless times and thought of a magic-like ability called ”High-level Illusion.”

This ability was somewhat similar to the Druid’s Level 4 spell, Illusion, which could create deceptive, illusory scenes, but High-level Illusion was even more potent and could produce deceptively realistic virtual images.

These little Cold Deer must have been created by High-level Illusion!

Because they didn’t actually exist, that’s why her Magic Marks passed through them and hit the snowy ground.

If High-level Illusion was used to create such virtual images to protect the little Cold Deer, then the real little Cold Deer should also exist somewhere, right? Where could they be?

Mu Ying decided to continue her discreet search.
