I Live on the Land in Global Games

Chapter 570: 553 AmbushChapter 570: Chapter 553 Ambush

Although the conversation in the campsite below wasn’t exactly pleasant, the banquet was truly lavish.

Mu Ying licked her lips at the sight, raised the Magic Flying Carpet a bit higher, and took out a small grill to roast some meat for herself.

Though her body was that of a fruit-loving Elf, her soul was that of a human with a taste for heavy flavors, and she loved nothing more than fried foods and barbecues.

She wouldn’t let tracking Cold Deers compromise her taste buds.

Sitting on the Magic Flying Carpet, she savored the grilled meat provided by her Cooking Magic while keeping an eye on the Cold Deers in the campsite below.

It wasn’t until dusk fell and the banquet ended that the two Cold Deers finally departed.

Satiated, Mu Ying quickly packed up her things and followed them on her Magic Flying Carpet.

Upon leaving the campsite, the two Cold Deers headed deep into the Snow Domain. Their path was complex, and they occasionally stopped to observe their surroundings, even the sky above, as if wary of being tracked.

Nonetheless, Mu Ying was following them from above all along.

She had been keeping the fact that her Magic Flying Carpet could conceal its tracks a tightly guarded secret, with the few who had seen it bound by a Secret Contract.

Consequently, outsiders only knew about her ability to fly on a broom, unaware that she could also conceal herself in mid-air. The elaborate detour taken by the two Cold Deers turned out to be futile.

As there were no Cold Deers this time to create a world of Ice and Snow, Mu Ying had to rely on herself.

After she figured out their patterns, she waited for the perfect opportunity to unleash a Snow Rainstorm in the area they were about to rush through, then used the blizzard as cover to sprinkle Frost Snow Powder on them.

The snowfield, silent just moments before, suddenly erupted with a mix of snow and ice as the Cold Deers passed through.

Piercing snowflakes mixed with hailstones the size of fists poured down upon them.

“skhd@#(She’s here)!” the stronger of the two Cold Deers said, “uidfhef*(This is Druid Spells, Snow Rainstorm)!”

The other Cold Deer snorted disdainfully. They were the spirits of the snow, and using Snow Rainstorm against them was nothing but a waste of Mana Value.

Mu Ying didn’t understand their Language, and she didn’t really care, as she was too busy poisoning them.

Searching quickly for the source of the Snow Rainstorm, the two Cold Deers looked around for Mu Ying, to no avail, of course.

Then a Thunder Cloud appeared above their heads.

“ioiw#(Run)!”

But it was too late. Everything below the Thunderstorm Skill’s cloud was within the range of attack. No matter how fast the Cold Deers were, they were not faster than lightning and were unable to escape the area before the lightning struck.

A few minutes later, there were two more Cold Deers lying poisoned and in shock on the snowfield. After confirming they had succumbed to the poison, Mu Ying allowed the Magic Flying Carpet to descend a bit and gave each one a final slash.

“Wow! A level 10 Cold Deer is worth more!” Mu Ying muttered in surprise when she saw the Experience come in.

She quickly cleaned up the battlefield, with a whole lot more Experience packs still waiting for her to collect!

Meanwhile, the forum was in an uproar.

“Mu Ying really started licking Experience packs again, jumping from 11 level 0% straight up to 10%!”

“I just wanna know if the Cold Deers are okay? Haha!”

“How long do you guys think it will be before she levels up to 12?”

“I guess tonight!”

“Tonight? Isn’t that a bit far-fetched? Don’t the Cold Deers know how to run?”

...

In the campsites of the Northwest Snowfield, the players were all nervous, with murmurs abounding.

“Has the Guardian God met with trouble again?”

“How long have they been gone? How did Mu Ying manage to do this?”

“Mu Ying has gone too far! Despite the generosity of the Guardian God to us, she mercilessly kills just to gain Experience points for leveling up!”

“The forums say that the expansion of the Snow Domain is the doing of the Guardian God, do you think it’s true?”

“Who cares if it’s true or not, who else would invite us to enjoy exquisite wine and dishes without charge like the Guardian God does? I’ll believe whoever gives me benefits!”

...

Deep within the snow-covered mountains, the Cold Deer had no idea that two of their members who had ventured out today had met their demise.

After losing nearly twenty of their tribe previously, they had moved away from the vicinity of the Snow Mountain Camp.

The new habitat was unknown to any humans, and the terrain was dangerous; it was extremely difficult for humans to approach, and the only accessible location was guarded by their tribespeople.

With no humans around, naturally, they were unaware of Mu Ying’s Level Progress skyrocketing once again.

However, as time passed and night deepened, the worry grew with the delayed return of the tribespeople.

“Boom~”

An ear-splitting sound of thunder came from the deeper regions of the Snow Mountains.

The Cold Deer unanimously looked in that direction.

“That is...”

“Disaster!”

The leader of the Cold Deer cried out, leading all the tribe members toward that location.

With each thunderclap, their anxiety intensified, but despite their concern, they were not excessively worried.

After all, there were 3 Level 10 tribespeople guarding that place.

Even if Mu Ying was a Level 11 Druid, she had just leveled up, and likely hadn’t even had time to learn her Spells—taking on three at once wouldn’t be easy.

The 3 Level 10 tribespeople could stall her for a while without a problem.

The Druids viewed the Cold Deer as experience-gaining tools, and the Cold Deer tribe regarded Druids as natural enemies. The capabilities of a Druid were crystal clear to the Cold Deer leader.

In its mind, Druids had few Attack Spells, and certainly couldn’t withstand a one versus many situation; once they all arrived, it would be time for revenge.

The only puzzling aspect was how she managed to accurately locate the hiding place of their young members.

Yet, when they crossed several Snow Mountains and stood at the foot of a mountain looking toward the valley shrouded in Thunder Clouds, the confidence to surround and attack evaporated.

The valley was desolate, the young deer were all gone, and the only trace was the snow that had been pushed down by more than a meter within the valley—and the thunderclouds had dissipated as well.

The Cold Deer rushed into the valley in panic, neglecting the potential traps that could be there.

But no matter how they searched, there was no trace of the younglings or the adult tribespeople who were protecting the place.

The Cold Deer cried out to the sky, and the Snow Mountain trembled—a landslide ensued.

High above the outskirts of the valley, a thin blanket hovered in place; Mu Ying was meditating to restore her Mana Value.

She had just cast four Snow Rainstorm and two Thunderstorm Skills to take down all the Cold Deer in the valley.

Taking into account the two Cold Deer she had killed earlier and the Mana expended, as well as the elemental damage she bore,

her Mana Value had dropped to only 45 points.

It might not be enough to harvest the remaining Cold Deer in one swoop, especially since there was a Level 11 leader, 2 Level 10s, and 6 Level 9s left.

To be on the safe side, Mu Ying didn’t want to commence an attack until she was certain she could prevent any from escaping, lest they discover her use of poison and create complications.

The effectiveness of Frost Snow Powder was the critical factor in her smooth operations; once discovered, it wouldn’t be so easy to defeat these Cold Deer if they found a countermeasure.

As long as Frost Snow Powder remained secret, once her Mana Value was restored, the rest of the Cold Deer, including the Level 11 leader, would be sitting ducks.
