Chapter 557: The 540th Chapter: Education

Huo Shaobai spotted an opportunity, ”If you don’t want to run a school on your own, how about collaborating with us? We’ll handle enrollment and school management, and you can serve as the dean or tutors of the professional branches. It’s best if you want to teach or take on apprentices yourself, but if not, you can also come to the school to give lectures whenever you have time, or disseminate your professional knowledge to expand your influence. We can also offer a certain amount of compensation.”

”Really? That would be great!” Draco agreed first, liking the idea of being a free tutor with the added benefit of compensation, coming and going as he pleased.

Atom and Vinica also nodded. With an existing college in place, and without any restrictions on them, they saw no reason to refuse.

After all, it was only about spreading professional knowledge; it wasn’t necessary to run a school themselves.

Mu Ying and Maz looked at Huo Shaobai together.

Neither of the two lords present had his talent for recruiting people.

However, Mu Ying was pleased. If Huo Shaobai could retain these individuals and undertake the creation of an integrated college offering advanced knowledge of various professions, that would naturally be even better—after all, it was for the benefit of the territory.

She had let go of this idea previously because she didn’t have the time or energy to manage so much. If she were to do it, she’d have to delegate to others, but she couldn’t control what it would turn into because teaching many professional skills isn’t easy, and the strength of the faculty and the content of the teaching were major concerns.

Only the Druid inheritance was closely related to her own life, and she was willing to invest her time and energy into it. As for other professions, Mu Ying was not interested—time and energy were far more important to her than sub-camp construction and money for the school. The latter could only increase her assets, while the former was essential to improving her Strength.

She had a Purple Gold Coin Mountain inside her Divine Ring; she wasn’t short on money, but what she lacked was time.

With Huo Shaobai and others, formerly official figures, leading the initiative, it wouldn’t be bad. They had Experience, and if successful, the territory would profit; even if they failed, the territory wouldn’t suffer too much loss. The key point was that it would save her a lot of worry and effort.

Mu Ying even had a sudden inspiration, ”Why not add me too? I don’t want to handle school management; I’d like to just be responsible for building the Druid branch and act as its dean. How does that sound?”

After all, Perception is a Talent Attribute for Druids. With high Perception, one should either become a Priest or a Druid. To draw more people to join the ranks of protecting nature, Mu Ying didn’t want the Divine Temple to gain a foothold in her territory in the future and divert the recruits with Perception Talent.

Aside from the Priest profession, other professions don’t overlap or compete with Druids.

”Of course, that’s great!” Huo Shaobai agreed without hesitation. ”But Lord, why don’t you just start your own integrated advanced academy? You could even combine it with the Basic School. With the backing of the territory, the difficulty of running a school would be much lower.”

He also wanted to settle his own Mercenary Group, but if these top-ranking professionals from each profession joined the academy, its standards would be too high, and he felt that his team alone couldn’t handle it.

”I also lack Experience in school management, and I don’t have that much time and energy to manage these things. My focus is still on Cultivation. As for the territory, just running a Basic School to spread education is enough. I don’t have much of an idea about doing more. I haven’t read many books myself; how would I know how to run a school?” Mu Ying said frankly.

She feared she would have to travel frequently in the next three years. Even if she hired someone to manage, those from the pre-apocalypse education sector would surely have some good suggestions, but the issue was that they could only offer proposals, and whether those had practical value was unknown.

Although they had educational Experience, they did not necessarily have corresponding practical Experience, and still required the cooperation and research of corresponding professionals.

If Mu Ying chose to undertake it, she would at least need to oversee it and grasp the general direction, but she didn’t have the time for that, nor did she really understand these matters.

Huo Shaobai finally remembered that before the apocalypse, the girl before him was just a high school student. To expect her to take the lead in running an academy akin to a university might really be beyond her abilities.

”Lord, how about considering hiring Lu You as the person in charge of educational matters for the territory? He used to be our team’s instructor and is also responsible for our training work. I was actually thinking of having him be the principal, overseeing the construction of the school. As the principal, he would handle comprehensive management, organize and research teaching methods and content, and then the internal professional colleges would be responsible for implementing the teaching. The principal would report directly to you, which could also save you management time and energy. The school would belong to the territory, though the territory would have to fully fund it.”

”Lu You?” Mu Ying had no idea he was capable in this area. In her memory, their team was a squad with high individual Combat Power, unrelated to educational issues.

Huo Shaobai provided her with another direction.

If the principal was not the highest leader and owner of the school but simply the actual manager, and the school belonged to the territory, it seemed even more suitable than her original idea?

As for the extra money required, it was the least of her concerns.

She was familiar with Lu You, whose professional abilities were not low. He was young, not set in his ways, and had strong social skills.

It seemed worth a try.

Mu Ying was tempted, ”Find him and let’s have a chat later; if it can be as you say, that would be the best.”

She thought that they didn’t need to start the school immediately. She could first have someone draft a proposal for her to review—she just needed to look over the proposal, and then they could proceed based on it. She wouldn’t need to put in much effort herself.

Huo Shaobai nodded; he was quite confident.

Maz suddenly felt that Mazi City was going to fall behind again.

But probably, he was only capable of handling the Mage inheritance. Deep Blue Star likely had no other Mage with as much Mage reserve as he had.

If it were about running an integrated academy, Mazi City did not have as many high-end warriors as Qingshan City and lacked the strength to do so.

However, like Mu Ying, he placed much greater importance on his personal Strength than on the territory.

For him, the territory was more like a money-making machine, meant to provide funding for his research. He couldn’t run an integrated university, but it would be good to run a Mage College.

Mu Ying still invited them to have a meal together.

After the meal, the others left one after another, leaving only Huo Shaobai behind. He had already sent a message to Lu You in advance to come over after everyone else had left.

As soon as Lu You arrived, he presented Mu Ying with an outline of ideas regarding the territory’s educational matters.

From the handwriting, it looked hastily written, but the content was more than mere general talk.

”Actually, I’ve been thinking for a while about when you would start taking education seriously! Education is not only about imparting professional knowledge and improving the Local People’s strength. Ideological and general education is also very important. These are some of my thoughts; you can have a look.”
