Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 150: Chapter 124 Cloned World

Just then, an alarm suddenly blared throughout the school. A dozen police cars screeched onto the school grounds. The mayor, accompanied by heavily armed police officers, entered the campus and made a beeline for Zhao Rong.

The university President, standing next to the mayor, pointed at Zhao Rong, who had just finished fighting, and said, ”Mayor, this security guard is Zhao Rong.”

Upon hearing this, the mayor immediately grasped Zhao Rong’s hand. ”Zhao Rong, you have performed a great service for our Xijing City.”

With that, the mayor turned to the officers beside him and ordered, ”Arrest all the Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows at Xijing University.”

Hearing the mayor say he had performed a great service, Zhao Rong scratched the back of his head in confusion. ”Mayor, a Ph.D. student named Wang Chao came here looking for trouble with two postdoctoral fellows, and I just taught them a lesson. What great service did I perform?”

The mayor held Zhao Rong’s hand, his eyes brimming with tears. ”Young man, even though you are just a security guard, you have done something truly earth-shattering and monumental. Do you understand?”

Seeing Zhao Rong’s baffled expression, the President stepped in to explain. ”Zhao Rong, there’s something you don’t know. Our Xijing City has spent many years trying to capture an evil scientist. But after all that time, after expending a great deal of manpower and resources, we not only came up empty-handed, but we were also played like a fiddle by this evil scientist... However, ever since you took down Yu Gang, the encrypted files he created were immediately made public. And with that, the evil scientist himself was revealed—he is our university’s postdoctoral fellow, Yu Gang... Did you know, through those declassified files, we discovered that every single Ph.D. student and postdoctoral fellow at Xijing University is a clone...”

Zhao Rong was utterly astonished. He looked at the President incredulously and asked, ”President, are you saying that Wang Chao, Yu Hong, and Yu Gang are all clones?”

The President first nodded, then shook his head. ”In our entire Xijing University, among all the Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows, only the wanted evil scientist, Yu Gang, was human. The rest of them were all cloned by him.”

Suddenly, Zhao Rong stared at Wang Chao and Yu Hong, exclaiming in shock, ”Whoa! So you two aren’t human? You’re both just clones created by the evil scientist Yu Gang.”

Yu Hong looked at Zhao Rong, a look of dawning realization on his face. ”Zhao Rong, thank you for killing Yu Gang. Otherwise, I never would have known that I, Yu Hong, was merely a clone.”

Wang Chao, as if waking from a long dream, added, ”Yu Gang implanted a program inside each of us. Only upon his death would these programs automatically deactivate. That’s why we are only now learning our true identities...”

Listening to them, Zhao Rong was puzzled. ”If I hadn’t killed Yu Gang, you wouldn’t have known you were clones, right? Shouldn’t you be happier then? Now that I’ve killed him and you know the truth, logically, you should be sad and hate me. Why are you thanking me?”

Facing Zhao Rong’s confusion, Yu Hong explained, ”Zhao Rong, you don’t understand. When we didn’t know our true identities, we were just zombies, aimlessly going through the motions. Now that we know who we are, we can go to the world of clones.”

It turned out that in this parallel world, Xijing City had a special, secluded utopia where clones could live independently. Now that Wang Chao and Yu Hong knew they were clones, they could go to that world, a world free from stress and competition. For them, Zhao Rong had helped clarify their identities, allowing them an honorable return to their homeland.

After Wang Chao, Yu Hong, and all the other Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows at Xijing University were escorted to the clone world, the university immediately organized a commendation ceremony to honor and reward the young security guard, Zhao Rong, for his heroic deeds.

At the ceremony, the mayor held Zhao Rong’s hand and said gratefully, ”Zhao Rong, even though you’re just a humble security guard, you have performed a great service for our Xijing City. If it weren’t for your keen eyes and decisive action, I’m sure the evil scientist hiding in this university would still be causing trouble and harming more students.”

Zhao Rong replied modestly, ”Mayor, you give me too much credit. I don’t really have such keen eyes, and I had no idea that guy Yu Gang was the evil scientist wanted by the city... I was just a blind cat that stumbled upon a dead rat; it was purely an accident.”

Hearing this, the mayor patted Zhao Rong’s shoulder. ”Young man, I know you have superpowers. I know you’re this city’s Batman, vanquishing evil, upholding justice, and doing good deeds without seeking fame. So, don’t be so modest. There’s no need to downplay your heroic actions...”

Hearing the mayor’s words, Zhao Rong shrugged. I’m just an ordinary person, and nowhere near as incredible as you say...

While Zhao Rong was silent, the mayor brought out the old bounty poster. ”Zhao Rong, you might not be aware, but our city had offered a reward of one million US Dollars for the capture of this evil scientist. Now, not only did you discover him, but you also killed him in self-defense. Therefore, I officially declare that this one-million-dollar reward is now yours.”

With that, the mayor had bank staff bring over a large leather suitcase. When Zhao Rong saw it, he was taken aback. ”Mayor, for the reward... you’re not giving a check, but actual cash?”

The mayor chuckled. ”Because that evil scientist was so elusive, appearing and vanishing without a trace, we were at our wits’ end. To encourage experts among the public, we specifically offered a one-million-dollar cash reward. Today, I will publicly fulfill Xijing City’s promise and present this one million US dollars in cash to you.”

Saying this, the mayor opened the suitcase and presented stacks upon stacks of US bills to Zhao Rong.

Staring at the million dollars before him, Zhao Rong was dumbfounded. I’ve never seen so much cash in my entire life, and it’s US dollars! This is a real eye-opener.

After the mayor’s reward, the university President also stepped forward to commend and reward Zhao Rong. He grabbed Zhao Rong’s hand, his eyes welling with tears. ”Zhao Rong, although you’re just an inconspicuous security guard, you have foiled a major conspiracy at our school.”

Hearing the words ”major conspiracy,” Zhao Rong looked at the President, confused. ”Me, a humble security guard, foiled a major conspiracy?”

The President nodded. ”Zhao Rong, you don’t realize that Yu Gang, this evil scientist, infiltrated our university as a student with the sole purpose of destroying it. He planned to build his own postdoctoral combat team, take control of Xijing City, dominate the world, and then rule the universe...”

Zhao Rong sucked in a sharp breath. My goodness, the President has always been prone to exaggeration, but isn’t this taking it a bit too far?

He managed an awkward smile and said, ”As a security guard, it’s my duty to protect the safety of the school, Xijing City, the world, and the universe.”

The moment the words left his mouth, even Zhao Rong felt he was laying it on a bit thick. But to his surprise, the President patted his shoulder and gave him a thumbs-up.

”Zhao Rong, our university needs more security guards exactly like you—responsible, visionary, and with an understanding of the greater good! Zhao Rong, from this day forward, I am appointing you Chief Security Manager of Xijing University. You will be in charge of all security staff across all our campuses. Furthermore, your salary will be increased from two thousand a month to two hundred thousand a month...”

Hearing that his salary would jump from two thousand to two hundred thousand, Zhao Rong’s eyes went wide. He looked at the President and said, ”President, I can live with that.”

Just as the mayor awarded Zhao Rong one million dollars in cash and the President promoted him to Chief Security Manager with a salary of two hundred thousand a month, a squad of beautiful girls in ultrashort skirts came onto the stage to present Zhao Rong with a commemorative banner.

Watching them approach, Zhao Rong asked, puzzled, ”Ladies, I’m just a humble security guard. I don’t think I’ve ever helped you, have I? Why are you giving me a banner?”

The leader of the group, a stunning woman who was the spitting image of a certain famous Japanese actress, replied gratefully, ”Officer, if you hadn’t discovered that all the Ph.D. students and postdoctoral fellows at our university were clones, I might have already married one...”

Zhao Rong was taken aback. He looked at the beautiful girl and said, ”Don’t worry. Now that you know your postdoctoral boyfriend is a clone, it’s not too late to turn back from that path.”

At his words, she suddenly burst into tears. ”But... I already slept with the clone, and I’m pregnant with his child...”

A pang of envy hit Zhao Rong. Damn, I envy that clone, getting to sleep with a beauty like her... the kind of woman you dream about while watching certain movies.

He quickly consoled her, ”Since you found out early, you should get an abortion as soon as possible. Otherwise, the consequences will be unimaginable.”

The young woman bowed deeply to Zhao Rong and thanked him.

Next, another beautiful girl, who resembled a different but equally famous star from the same films, stepped forward to thank him. ”Officer, thank you for taking down Yu Gang and exposing his scheme. Because of you, we discovered our boyfriends weren’t human, but clones. If not for you, I’d probably still be in bed role-playing with him right now.”

Zhao Rong gasped. Could these clones have been preprogrammed? How else could they have found such ’hard-drive goddesses’?

Then, another girl, who looked like a well-known mixed-race actress from the industry, also came forward to thank him and present a banner.

Zhao Rong watched her, marveling to himself. So even mixed-race beauties were sleeping with clones...

Just then, his phone rang. It was a call from Xuelian.

He could hear the sound of a shower in the background as she spoke in a terrified voice, ”Brother Zhao Rong, come save us! There’s a ghost in the women’s bathhouse!”

The sound of the shower spray made Zhao Rong’s ears perk up. ”A ghost in the women’s bathhouse? Are you asking me to come over and catch a ghost in the women’s bathhouse right now?”

”Brother Zhao Rong, please hurry!” Xuelian cried, her voice filled with panic. ”There really is a ghost! Miss Lili and Sister Yu Lan have already been possessed by it!”

Zhao Rong paused for a second. ”Alright, tell all the other girls bathing to get out. I’m on my way to catch the ghost right now.”

”We can’t!” Xuelian said desperately. ”Brother Zhao Rong, all the women in the bathhouse froze mid-shower, like they’ve been put under a spell! Forget about propriety between men and women! Saving lives is what’s important! Please, hurry over!”

With his mind suddenly flooded with images of a bathhouse filled with beautiful, bathing women, Zhao Rong didn’t hesitate. He quickly bid everyone farewell and dashed straight toward the women’s bathhouse.
