Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 103: Chapter 87: Advancing to Level 19, Facing Achilles

Upon hearing this, Zhao Rong felt awkward. After all the effort I went through to make up a lie and convince the three beauties I hadn’t been to Red Charman, why is an enemy I made there showing up now?

Realizing his cover was blown, Zhao Rong felt utterly dejected. He was sure he was doomed and that the three women would despise him.

However, just as Zhao Rong braced himself for a scolding or even a beating, Lili suddenly gave him a thumbs-up.

”Brother Zhao Rong,” she said, ”fighting over seventy people by yourself in Red Charman makes you just like Keanu Reeves in The Matrix.”

Yu Lan also gave him a nod of approval. ”Brother Zhao Rong, you were right to go to Red Charman. Not only did you teach those arrogant disciples of the Wild Wolf Sect a lesson, but you also upheld the honor of our True Martial Sect.”

Xuelian praised him as well. ”Brother Zhao Rong, we know a place like Red Charman is no good, but we also know you went there for a just cause. You did it for all of us.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong was completely dumbfounded. He hadn’t expected the three women to support him; he thought for sure they would scold him.

While grateful for their support, he steeled himself to go out and face his challenger. But just as he reached the door, Tao Hua rushed over to block his path.

”Zhao Rong, you’re a Level 17 cultivator,” she said urgently. ”Are you trying to get yourself killed by fighting a Level 20 cultivator?”

”I’ve beaten people five levels higher than me before,” Zhao Rong said dismissively. ”What’s someone just three levels higher?”

Hearing his youthful bravado, like that of a newborn calf that doesn’t fear a tiger, Tao Hua quickly explained, ”Zhao Rong, there’s something you don’t understand. The disciples of the Wild Wolf Sect are different from us in the True Martial Sect. If one of our disciples is a level higher than you, it might not be a big deal. But if a Wild Wolf Sect disciple is even one level higher, it’s like having a great mountain crushing you. Achilles is three levels higher, which means you’d be facing three great mountains. If you go out to fight him now, your chances of survival are slim.”

Zhao Rong was shocked. He had no idea the disciples of the Wild Wolf Sect were so formidable.

”Then what should we do?” he asked.

Tao Hua pointed toward the Cultivation Cave on Mount Shu. ”Follow me up the mountain. Today is the Day of Light, a day when True Qi is exceptionally abundant. If we seize this opportunity and have a good night of cultivation in the cave, you might even gain a level.”

The idea of going to the Cultivation Cave made Zhao Rong think of Achilles waiting to fight him at the gates. ”Tao Hua, are we just going to go cultivate and leave Achilles waiting?”

”Since we’re going to cultivate, we’ll just have to let him wait,” Tao Hua said. ”Besides, the weather forecast predicts a sharp drop in temperature tonight. Once it gets cold, we’ll let Achilles freeze for a whole night. If we’re lucky, he’ll catch a cold. Then, even though he’s Level 20, he might only be able to display the strength of a Level 19.”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong decided it was an excellent plan. He was about to have his assistant go out and deliver a message to Achilles.

Seeing the assistant about to leave, Tao Hua was struck by a sudden idea. ”Assistant, listen up,” she said. ”You must keep Achilles here. Don’t let him leave, and don’t let him get a room at a nearby inn. Just go out every hour and tell him Zhao Rong will be out in a little while. Stall him. Make him freeze outside all night.”

Hearing Tao Hua’s strategy, Zhao Rong thought to himself, Is this really okay? Tricking the guy before the fight even starts? But then, he reconsidered. This is also a strategy. Subduing the enemy without a fight... that is the highest form of wisdom.

And so, Zhao Rong, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian followed Tao Hua up the mountain to train in the Cultivation Cave. Meanwhile, the assistant was tasked with going out to stall Achilles, ensuring he would freeze outside for the night.

When the assistant reached the gates of the True Martial Sect, he saw Achilles and his three lackeys swaggering about, waiting arrogantly for Zhao Rong to appear. Before the assistant could even open his mouth, Achilles spoke first. Looking at him, he demanded, ”Kid, where’s the True Martial Sect’s Zhao Rong? Where did he run off to?”

Achilles’s lackeys, emboldened by their master’s presence, chimed in, ”That punk Zhao Rong beat up our Wild Wolf Sect brothers at Red Charman. Does he think he can just get away with it? No way! He’ll pay with his life!”

Hearing such insolence from the Wild Wolf Sect disciples, the assistant, as a True Martial Disciple himself, paused for a moment before speaking. ”Gentlemen, please be patient. Zhao Rong is currently eating dinner. He’ll come out to face your challenge once he’s finished.”

Hearing that Zhao Rong was eating, Achilles scoffed. ”Tell Zhao Rong to eat up. I’m afraid this might be his last supper.”

Finished speaking, Achilles turned to his lackeys. ”No rush. We’ll let him finish his meal before we finish him off.”

「Two hours later.」

The temperature plummeted.

Achilles, dressed in shorts and a T-shirt, and his two lackeys in tank tops, were shivering violently from the cold. They yelled toward the True Martial Sect’s entrance, demanding that Zhao Rong come out and fight.

At that moment, the assistant emerged again. He had been wearing light clothes earlier but was now bundled up in a coat.
