Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 120: Chapter 99: Brandishing a Sword on Horseback, with Overwhelming Momentum

Upon hearing that Mage Erzhen was bringing his men to seize the Great Seal of the True Martial Sect, Zhao Rong immediately leaped out of his room. He looked at the menacing crowd approaching and declared authoritatively, ”Sect Leader Mage Yizhen has just left, and you animals already dare to run wild? The True Martial Sect is a sacred ground for cultivators. I am now its Sect Leader, so who gave you the right to stir up trouble here?” As he spoke, Zhao Rong drew the Dharma Sword from the storm within his Dantian. He stood with his sword at the ready before the broken bridge, awaiting the group’s approach.

On the other side, Mage Erzhen led Wang Jingang, Huang Mao, Dasha, and a horde of minions, swaggering toward Sect Leader Mage Yizhen’s room. Wang Jingang trailed beside Mage Erzhen like a sycophant, fawning over him. ”Master, since Sect Leader Mage Yizhen has left, the True Martial Sect should naturally fall to you. How could it possibly be Zhao Rong’s turn?”

Huang Mao added fuel to the fire. ”Master, Zhao Rong used to have Mage Yizhen’s protection. Now that Mage Yizhen is gone, who’s left to protect him?”

Dasha, munching on spicy strips, added, ”Master, let’s just kill Zhao Rong when we get there and be done with it.”

A sinister smile hung on Mage Erzhen’s face. He gazed at Sect Leader Mage Yizhen’s house in the distance and said, ”When Mage Yizhen was around, I didn’t dare touch Zhao Rong because I feared his intervention. Now that the old man is gone, I’ll make sure Zhao Rong dies a death uglier than a pig’s.” With that, Mage Erzhen advanced, fully intending to kill Zhao Rong. He planned to eliminate him, seize the Great Seal, and then cultivate diligently. Once he broke through to level thirty, he would unlock the seal, master the Heavenly Dragon Elephant Technique to its highest level, and then destroy the world and rule the universe.

As the arrogant group, led by Mage Erzhen, arrived at the broken bridge, they saw a young man in long robes standing on the opposite side, wielding a longsword, poised and ready for battle.

Wang Jingang had poor vision. Squinting at the figure across the bridge, he asked, ”Who is this kid? It can’t be Zhao Rong, can it?”

Huang Mao, however, had sharp eyes and immediately recognized him. He laughed and said to Wang Jingang, ”Senior Brother, it looks like Zhao Rong is courting death. He’s standing there alone, waiting for our whole group? We could drown him just by spitting on him.”

Dasha nudged Huang Mao. ”There’s a girl next to Zhao Rong. I think it’s Tao Hua.”

When Mage Erzhen saw Zhao Rong and Tao Hua standing together on the other side of the bridge, he sneered, ”I originally came today to kill only Zhao Rong. But since this woman wants to die too, it makes no difference. Killing one or killing two is the same. We might as well wipe them out in one go and completely eradicate Mage Yizhen’s remaining influence.”

With that, Mage Erzhen led his arrogant and overbearing followers onto the broken bridge.

Seeing the large group step onto the structure, a faint smile appeared on Zhao Rong’s face. ”You idiots,” he said. ”Time to feed the fish.”

Zhao Rong took a step back and swung the Dharma Sword high. As a level nineteen cultivator, he could channel the sword’s power and had more than enough strength to slice the bridge in two. With momentum like a charging rainbow, he leaped into the air and brought his sword down in a vertical slash.

Instantly, the once solid bridge split down the middle.

At that moment, more than sixty people were on it. Just as Mage Erzhen, Wang Jingang, Huang Mao, and Dasha were walking confidently across, the bridge suddenly broke. In an instant, all sixty-plus people plunged into the water below.

Mage Erzhen, who had been walking along one moment and was flailing in the water the next, bellowed, ”This is bad! There were too many of us on the bridge! We were marching in step, which created a resonance that shattered it!” With that, he began swimming for his life toward the shore.

Wang Jingang frowned. Damn it, what a terrible start. How could the bridge just break before we even reached Mage Yizhen’s room?

From the opposite bank, Zhao Rong watched Mage Erzhen’s crew struggling pathetically in the water and roared with laughter. ”You idiots! Drink your fill before you climb out!”

As Zhao Rong was laughing, Tao Hua reminded him, ”Brother Zhao Rong, my dad bought some piranha fry online a while ago and released them into the river under this bridge... I wonder if they’ve grown up yet?”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong was stunned. ”Damn it, why didn’t you say so earlier? If I’d known there were piranhas in the river, I wouldn’t have cut the bridge! Someone could actually die!”

Even though the vile Mage Erzhen wanted him dead, the kind-hearted Zhao Rong had no intention of killing them. He only wanted to teach them a lesson.

Just as Zhao Rong began to worry, Dasha screamed from the river, ”AGH! Why do these fish bites hurt so much?”

As a trickle of blood seeped from Dasha’s thigh, a large school of piranhas, drawn by the scent, swarmed toward him. When the nearby Huang Mao realized the fish weren’t ordinary but man-eating piranhas, he pissed his pants in fear.

”Shit, swim!” he yelled, frantically paddling. ”Why are there piranhas?!”

Before he could finish his sentence, a slow-swimming thug next to him was swarmed and reduced to a skeleton in an instant. When Mage Erzhen, Wang Jingang, Huang Mao, and Dasha saw several disciples devoured down to the bone, they all wet themselves in terror.

Wang Jingang, his pants soaked, cried out, ”Damn it! If we’d known this river had piranhas, we never would have crossed here!” With that, he used every last ounce of his strength to swim madly for the shore.

Mage Erzhen was also scared stiff. As he swam furiously, he muttered, ”When it rains, it pours! Why are we so unlucky? Could it be that even the heavens disapprove of us coming to steal the Great Seal of the True Martial Sect?”

Though simple-minded, Dasha was the fastest swimmer and reached the bank in no time. As he breathed a sigh of relief, thankful to be alive, he noticed something wrong. A toe on his left foot was missing. His eyes widened, and he clutched his foot, wailing.

By then, Wang Jingang had also reached the shore. Looking back at the disciples still struggling in the river, he felt a wave of relief. Good thing I’m a strong swimmer, or I’d have been eaten by now. But just as he was congratulating himself, he realized his right pinky finger was gone. He grabbed his right hand and cried, ”My hand! I’m missing a finger! I’m going to be disabled for life!”

Seeing his Senior Brother Wang Jingang had lost a finger and his Junior Brother Dasha a toe, Huang Mao felt incredibly lucky. ”Heh, look at me! All my fingers and toes are still here.” But as he celebrated, he felt something wet on the side of his head. His ear was bleeding. He reached up and felt nothing—his left ear was gone. Huang Mao burst into tears. ”My ear! How could I lose an ear? Am I going to be called One-Ear from now on?”

At this point, Mage Erzhen finally dragged himself ashore. He frantically checked his own body, terrified that he was missing a part. After a thorough inspection, he found himself completely intact.

Just as Mage Erzhen was sighing in relief, Wang Jingang, Huang Mao, and Dasha stared at him in shock.

In unison, they stammered, ”Master, why is your groin bleeding...?”
