Peerless Bodyguard of a Stunning Beauty

Chapter 123: Chapter 102: This... Is Possible...

Lili watched the assistant hopping frantically ahead of her and said, ”Why is this assistant suddenly jumping around like a zombie? He’s so frantic, so jerky... and so comical...”

Yu Lan commented from the side, ”What do you expect? Yesterday, he drank the Tri-Stagger Poison that the Mustachioed Man gave him.”

Xuelian seemed to understand. ”So, after drinking the Tri-Stagger Poison, you don’t just lose your memory, you can’t even walk properly. You have to keep your feet together and your hands raised, hopping forward like a zombie.”

Although Zhao Rong could see the three beautiful women—Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian—he didn’t get a clear look at the person hopping ahead of them, nor could he make out what they were shouting. So, he turned to Tao Hua behind him and said, ”Don’t be afraid, Tao Hua. It’s just a zombie. Watch me take care of him.”

With that, Zhao Rong took off running toward the ”zombie.” As he ran, he shouted, ”Die, zombie! Taste my flying kick!” He leaped high into the air and aimed a flying kick straight at the zombie’s face.

At that moment, the assistant was still hopping around frantically. As he hopped, he kept looking back at the three women chasing him.

I woke up and suddenly couldn’t walk, but hopping around is actually pretty cool! Besides, I move even faster this way than by walking. You can’t catch me, can you, Lili, Yu Lan, and Xuelian?

Just as the assistant was relishing his enjoyable, bouncy gait, a flying kick suddenly connected squarely with his face. In an instant, he was sent flying, landing unconscious beside a stinky ditch.

Seeing the assistant, who had been hopping along just fine, get sent flying by Zhao Rong, who appeared out of nowhere, Lili exclaimed in surprise, ”Brother Zhao Rong, why did you kick the assistant? He just woke up after being unconscious for an entire day and night!”

Yu Lan also spoke up for him, full of sympathy. ”Brother Zhao Rong, that was a really harsh kick. The assistant has been asleep for a day and a night; he hasn’t even eaten yet.”

Xuelian stared at the large footprint on the assistant’s face and gasped. ”We need to help him, quickly! Brother Zhao Rong really didn’t hold back on that kick.”

Hearing that the person he had kicked wasn’t a zombie but the assistant, Zhao Rong’s eyes widened in shock. He looked at the figure he had sent flying a short distance away and said to the three women, ”So that was the assistant? I thought it was a zombie.”

After speaking, he thought to himself, How strange. What possessed the assistant to hop around like a zombie in the middle of the night? Isn’t that just asking to be kicked?

When the three women reached the assistant, Yu Lan immediately scooped up some water from the nearby ditch and splashed it on his face. The assistant woke up with a jolt.

Seeing him awake, Zhao Rong apologized. ”Assistant, I’m sorry for kicking you just now.”

Upon hearing this, the assistant started to cry. ”I just woke up thirsty and wanted a Coke! Did you really have to chase me down and kick me over it?”

Hearing this, Zhao Rong said with understanding, ”If you wanted a Coke, you could have just stayed in the dorm and had one of the ladies go buy one for you. Why did you have to go yourself?”

The assistant replied in an aggrieved tone, ”I wanted the three-yuan Pepsi, but Miss Lili insisted on buying me the two-yuan Future Cola...”

Cold sweat trickled down Zhao Rong’s forehead. He said, ”Miss Lili, you really should have just bought him the three-yuan Pepsi.”

Lili retorted defiantly, ”Future Cola is made by a company my father invested in. We should support our domestic brands!”

Zhao Rong was stunned. Well, I’ll be. So that’s the reason.

He turned to the assistant. ”Assistant, you wait here. I’ll go buy you a Coke.”

Moved to tears, the assistant said, ”Thank you, Brother Zhao Rong! Remember, it has to be a can of Pepsi...”

Zhao Rong nodded. ”No problem. You just wait, I’ll go get it for you.”

He had only taken a couple of steps when the assistant called out from behind him, ”I also want some spicy sticks, the ones made in Zhoukou would be best...”

The assistant hadn’t eaten or drunk anything for a full day and night. Hearing him wake up and immediately ask for soda and junk food, Zhao Rong was simply speechless. But, to satisfy the assistant’s cravings, Zhao Rong went and bought him the Coke and spicy sticks anyway.

Just then, Tao Hua walked over. She looked at the assistant and said, ”Assistant, from the way you’re hopping like a zombie, you must be under the effects of the Tri-Stagger Poison. I have the antidote...”

As she spoke, Tao Hua took out a pill and handed it to the assistant. He took the antidote, washing it down with the Coke and spicy sticks.

After taking the medicine, he thought, Tao Hua really is the kindest one to me.

When the onlookers saw the assistant take Tao Hua’s antidote, everyone breathed a collective sigh of relief. After all, the assistant deserved some of the credit for what happened last night. If he hadn’t gotten drunk and chugged the drugged beer meant for the three women, they would be the ones hopping like zombies right now, not him.

However, just as everyone expected the assistant to return to normal after taking the antidote, his zombie-hopping suddenly stopped. Instead, he began to walk with a duck waddle. The assistant now moved from side to side like a duck, a completely comical sight.
