Urban Martial Saint

These two men were no match for the White-faced Young Man, but their rushing in at least bought him a brief respite.

The two men tangled with Ye Qing, thinking that the White-faced Young Man would take the chance to attack Ye Qing from behind. Unexpectedly, the White-faced Young Man didn’t come over to help and instead turned around and ran.

The two men were greatly shocked and had no time to speak before they were all thrown to the ground by Ye Qing. Meanwhile, the White-faced Young Man didn’t run towards the door but instead headed straight for the window, opened it, and prepared to jump down.

”Think you can escape!” Ye Qing bellowed as he knocked the two men down. He quickly chased after the White-faced Young Man to the window. Just as the White-faced Young Man was about to jump, Ye Qing grabbed his clothes and pulled him back in, tossing him back into the ward.

The White-faced Young Man wasn’t heavy, but he still weighed around one hundred twenty or thirty pounds. However, in Ye Qing’s hands, he was like a plush toy. After this recovery, Ye Qing’s strength had indeed increased!

The White-faced Young Man hit the ground, dizzy and staggering to his feet. Ye Qing rushed over and reached out to grab him.

Just then, the White-faced Young Man suddenly flung his right hand, scattering a cloud of white powder.

Ye Qing instinctively closed his eyes and yelled violently, changing his grip to a punch, and struck out forcefully.

The punch landed squarely on the White-faced Young Man’s body, eliciting a muffled groan from him, but without any pause, he turned and ran out of the ward.

Ye Qing didn’t pursue him. In his blinded state, who knew what dangers he might encounter? He wiped his hands twice, feeling that there was no more white powder around, and then slowly opened his eyes, only to find the White-faced Young Man was already gone. The two men Ye Qing had knocked down were also gone, having taken the opportunity to escape amidst the chaos.

Ye Qing didn’t go after them. Since escaping from the crematory, he had headed directly to the hospital. He was well aware that if they had killed him, the next target would most likely be Black Bear. Unexpectedly, he had just returned to encounter such a dangerous situation. Had he not rushed back in time, Black Bear and Huo Pingping might well have been harmed.

Ye Qing went over and helped Black Bear up, pressing a few points near his ribs, and Black Bear’s condition of vomiting blood slowly improved.

As Ye Qing turned to help Huo Pingping, she recoiled as if from a venomous snake, pulling herself up by the bed and looking at Ye Qing, her voice trembling, ”You… are you a human or a ghost?”

”I’m obviously a human!” said Ye Qing.

Huo Pingping’s face showed disbelief, ”They… they said you were dead! Your... your body was even cremated, wasn’t it?”

Ye Qing puzzled, said, ”I’m standing here alive and well, doesn’t that prove I’m not dead?”

”How do I know you... you aren’t... aren’t a ghost?” Huo Pingping backed away a bit, obviously scared of ghosts.

”Think what you want!” Ye Qing shrugged, unwilling to explain further.

Black Bear, with a naive smile on his face, said, ”Captain, I just knew you wouldn’t die!”

Ye Qing’s heart warmed, and he nodded slowly, saying, ”Xiong Zi, rest assured, these people are not yet capable of taking our lives!”

Hearing him speak like that, Huo Pingping scratched her head and said, ”That does sound like you’re really not dead. By the way, have you seen Zhao Chengshuang? Didn’t he go to the crematory to look for you?”

Just as Huo Pingping finished speaking, the sudden angry voice of Zhao Chengshuang came from outside, ”Dammit, I’ve never heard such a damn unreliable excuse in my life. Pretending to be dead? What do they mean by ’pretending to be dead’? In this clear and righteous world, could there still be ghosts?

Let me tell you, they probably burned Brother Ye’s body and then made up this unreliable excuse to fool us. I, Zhao Chengshuang, being an atheist, if they manage to deceive me, how can I ever be a cop again? Check this out thoroughly for me, no matter who harmed Brother Ye, I’ll make them pay!”

As he spoke, Zhao Chengshuang was wheeled into the ward, still turning back to talk to the policemen behind him, completely unaware of the situation inside the ward.

Huo Pingping, shocked, gave Ye Qing a glance and whispered, ”Pretend... pretend... pretending to be dead?”

This girl with the wild imagination was frightened once again by her own thoughts.

Ye Qing looked at Zhao Chengshuang and called out loud, ”Cheng Shuang!”

”Hmm?” Zhao Chengshuang turned his head, staring at Ye Qing for a full half minute, then suddenly screamed in horror and stood up from his wheelchair.

Of course, his injuries had not yet healed, and he fell straight to the ground the moment he stood up. But he was stubborn, scrabbling with his hands to crawl away, as if he had seen something utterly terrifying and was now desperate to escape.

The few people inside the room all stared at Zhao Chengshuang, and even Huo Pingping was drawn to his dog-padding posture. For a moment, they all forgot about the supposedly resurrected Ye Qing beside them.

It took a while before Zhao Chengshuang had crawled barely half a meter, and he finally stopped, tired and panting, leaning on the wheelchair. Waving his hand, he said, ”Ye brothers, a grudge must be settled, and a debt must have a debtor. If you... if you have any grievances, tell me, and I will avenge you. But it wasn’t me who harmed you, please don’t pick on the wrong person!”

Ye Qing found it amusing, walking over to stand before Zhao Chengshuang.

Zhao Chengshuang immediately turned his head to the side, wailing pitifully, ”Brother, stop playing, I’m scared…”

Ye said, ”I’m not dead!”

Zhao Chengshuang almost sobbed, saying, ”I know, I know, your spirit is immortal, you will always live in my heart. Ye, if you have any grievances, just say them, I will help you seek revenge. Can you please not look at me, I’m really scared...”

Ye said, ”Turn your head and look at me, I’m really not dead!”

Zhao Chengshuang turned his head further away, ”Don’t, I’m scared...”

Without saying another word, Ye reached out, grabbed Zhao Chengshuang’s chin, and turned his face towards himself.

”Ah!” Zhao Chengshuang screamed tragically, but at that moment, his hands and feet were ice cold, his whole body was numb, and he had no strength to struggle. He could only be turned by Ye, and out of fear, he even forgot to close his eyes, his whole body trembling.

”Look at me, I’m fine, I’m not dead!” Ye said.

Zhao Chengshuang stared at Ye for a while, then suddenly raised his eyebrows, saying, ”Eh, it seems like it’s true, you even have a shadow!”

Ye stood up and walked to the doorway. The sunlight shining in from outside cast a long shadow of him.

Huo Pingping also perked up, saying, ”There really is a shadow, could he really be not dead?”

Ye said, ”What do you mean ’could I’ be? I am not dead!”

Zhao Chengshuang and Huo Pingping looked at each other, simultaneously shouting out in happiness. Zhao Chengshuang grabbed Ye’s hand, saying, ”To hell with it, you almost scared me to death. Son of a bitch, I just heard you were dead, I almost ordered someone to tear down the detention center, but it turns out you actually aren’t dead!”

Huo Pingping supported herself on the bed, indignantly said, ”You damned soldier, why didn’t you say you weren’t dead earlier, you almost scared me paralyzed!”

Ye shrugged helplessly, saying, ”I said I wasn’t dead, you two didn’t believe me!”

”Hey, let’s not talk about this; let’s talk about your situation first.” Zhao Chengshuang was now spirited, sitting on the ground, he started asking, ”What exactly happened? Why did they say you were dead? Weren’t you supposed to be cremated?”

Ye didn’t hide anything, recounting the events in the detention center, including being drugged and framed by someone, and smothered with a pillow. Of course, he didn’t mention the Acupoint Seeking Technique, but said he had gone into shock at the time and was mistakenly thought to be dead. It wasn’t until at the crematory that he had woken up and came back.

Even if Ye had talked about the Acupoint Seeking Technique, Zhao Chengshuang might not have believed him. Moreover, Ye didn’t yet know the origins of the Acupoint Seeking Technique and was cautious about revealing too much for now.

Their recounting could only be described as harrowing, with everyone in the room breaking out in cold sweat. Upon hearing that someone had come to assassinate Black Bear and Huo Pingping just earlier, Zhao Chengshuang was furious, exclaiming, ”Son of a bitch, do these bastards have no respect for the law anymore!”

Ye didn’t say anything; this event had changed him a lot. At least, he no longer trusted the police as he had before. After being betrayed by the police too many times, he had almost lost his life in the detention center this time. These experiences made him realize that some people truly have no regard for the law, and to deal with such people, one should not talk about law with them.

An eye for an eye was indeed the best method!

Everyone was thrilled about Ye’s survival. Zhao Chengshuang asked a few questions about that old man, and they almost identified who he was.

Zhao Chengshuang said indignantly, ”Rest assured, I will immediately have someone look into this matter. Even if I have to dig three feet into the ground, I will find this old codger. I want to see who dares to cause such a big commotion in the detention center!”

”What use is finding this person, the most important thing is whether such incidents will happen again in the future!” Huo Pingping said, ”Today someone even came to the hospital to kill someone. Zhao Chengshuang, your deterrent power as a police officer isn’t enough!”

Zhao Chengshuang was slightly embarrassed, saying indignantly, ”Afterwards, the public security in Shenchuan City really has been getting worse. The key issue is that our police force also has some bad apples, and dealing with them isn’t a matter of just one or two days.”

Huo Pingping asked, ”Does ’bad apples’ include yourself?”

Zhao Chengshuang immediately said, ”What are you saying, how am I a bad apple!”

Huo Pingping sneered, ”Cut it out, posing in front of outsiders. Everyone in this hospital room knows your embarrassing stories.”

Zhao Chengshuang was embarrassed; he thought Huo Pingping knew about that night he had taken a woman for a car ride. That night, he had been caught red-handed by Ye, and every time he thought about it, he felt extremely embarrassed.

”By the way, how did you meet my sister?” Zhao Chengshuang changed the subject, he also wanted to ask about this.

”Your sister? Who?” Ye was completely puzzled.

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Lin Huayu!”

”Lin Huayu?” Huo Pingping exclaimed first, ”Are you talking about Lin Huayu, the only daughter of Lin Zhen Nan, the chairman of Lin Corporation?”
