Urban Martial Saint

At dawn, a sudden scream emanated from the detention cell, drawing several guards to the scene.

”There’s a dead person! There’s a dead person!” A man in the detention cell was shouting and flailing about, having seen such a scene upon waking up, it was difficult for anyone to remain calm.

”What happened?” The guards rushed in and saw Ye Qing lying on the bed with his eyes closed. One of the guards went over to perfunctorily check Ye Qing’s breathing and turned, speaking urgently, ”He’s really dead!”

”Who did it?” The guards immediately turned to the other two people in the room, who were both clueless. They had slept through the night, how would they know who did it?

”There are only three people in this detention room, and now one is dead, it must be something between these two,” another guard gestured with his hand and said, ”Take them both, report to the higher-ups, and have them send someone to investigate.”

”And the body?”

”Send it for an autopsy to see exactly what the cause of death was?”

Under the direction of the guards, the two suspects were immediately arrested, and Ye Qing’s ”body” was also carried out, to be sent to the autopsy room.

After everything was dealt with, the guards finally sighed in relief. The leader of the team glanced at the people around him and said in a low voice, ”Did we leave behind any traces?”

The person in charge of cleaning up replied, ”Don’t worry, I cleaned up very cleanly, there are definitely no problems.”

The captain nodded with satisfaction and smiled, ”That’s good. Call that person and tell him to prepare to pay the remainder of the money!”

The guards were also overjoyed, as the money involved was certainly no small amount.

All this was planned by Boss Lin, but these guards weren’t contacted by him directly; it was his subordinate Da Hong who contacted them. After receiving the call from the guards, Da Hong immediately reported the situation to Boss Lin.

Boss Lin had been waiting all night for this news. Upon hearing the report and confirming that Ye Qing was dead, he couldn’t help but be overjoyed and waved his hand, ”Very good, transfer the money to them. Also, you should leave Shenchuan City immediately and don’t come back within a year, understand?”

”Don’t worry, Eldest Brother, I’ll just consider it a vacation,” Da Hong said proudly.

Boss Lin nodded, stood up, and went into the inner room to call Yang Shitao. He now held a video of the pillows being used by several people to smother Ye Qing, this video, whether sold to Yang Shitao or to those several big bosses, was worth a lot of money.

Boss Lin looked at the video in his hand and scoffed, ”Mr. Ye, you’ve caused so much trouble for me lately, almost cutting off my source of income. Now your death will make me a fortune, consider it compensation!”

In the detention center, several guards were anxiously waiting for their money to be transferred. However, before the money arrived, an unwelcome group showed up first.

Three black sedans brazenly sped into the detention center’s courtyard without any intention of stopping, only halting at the entrance. There were very few who dared to act so boldly at the detention center.

The first to step out of the car was a girl about eighteen or nineteen years of age, pretty and with upturned lips hinting at a mischievous spirit. It was Lin Huayu, the young miss of Lin Corporation. Her two bodyguards maintained a consistent distance, not too far nor too close, yet always ensuring her safety.

Another woman walked out, it was Mu Qingrong, with a worried expression but with a hint of surprise in her eyes. She only intended to ask Lin Huayu to help talk to Lin Zhen Nan about the matter, but didn’t expect that after Lin Huayu went upstairs, she came running down right away, dragging her to the detention center, leaving Mu Qing confused about her intentions.

Lin Huayu didn’t say much and went straight into the detention center.

Inside the detention center, more than a dozen people were working when they were startled by someone barging in. However, upon seeing Lin Huayu’s designer clothes and the entourage following her, they were internally shocked. Those who came here so arrogantly must have an extraordinary identity.

”Where is Ye Qing! Where is Ye Qing!” As soon as Lin Huayu entered, she shouted loudly, clearly anxious.

”Hua Yu, don’t panic. I’ll ask,” an elderly man in his sixties, with an embarrassed face, hurried over to Lin Huayu and said, ”Excuse us for the disturbance. May I ask if Director Huang is in?”

”Who’s looking for me?” A portly bald man emerged from the adjacent office. Upon seeing the elder, his expression changed, and a smile quickly spread across his face, ”It turns out to be Manager Wu from Lin Corporation! What brings you here? Please, come have a seat inside.”

It dawned on everyone, the residents of Shenchuan City, that ninety-nine percent knew of Lin Corporation. And those who knew Lin Corporation, ninety percent remembered the name Lin Zhen Nan. And those who knew the name Lin Zhen Nan, basically also knew the name Wu Weiguo.

Wu Weiguo was more than a decade older than Lin Zhen Nan and had been with him since the beginning of his business ventures, up until now, holding the position of the second most powerful person in Lin Corporation. He also had a good relationship with Lin Zhen Nan, having never had a dispute with him since the start of their business, which is rare among business partners.

Even, some say, Wu Weiguo is Lin Zhen Nan’s personal butler. In any case, Wu Weiguo’s status in Shenchuan City was not much lower than that of Lin Zhen Nan. At the very least, the director of the detention center had to genuinely flatter him.

”No need,” Wu Weiguo waved his hand, ”We are here to see someone.”

”Oh, whom would you like to see?” Director Huang scurried over, eagerly saying, ”I will fetch them for you.”

Wu Weiguo replied, ”Ye Qing, is he detained here?”

```
”Ye Qing?” Director Huang froze for a moment, his face changed as he said, ”He... He... He is... is detained here, but...”
”But what?” Lin Huayu said urgently, her temper as a young mistress flaring. She wanted nothing more than to see Ye Qing right away, and someone beating around the bush like this made her nearly uncontrollable with rage.
Director Huang’s tongue seemed tied as he trembled, ”He... He... He was murdered last night... by... by two other people in... in the same cell...”
”What!” Lin Huayu’s eyes widened in shock, Mu Qingrong swayed beside her, almost fainting as she trembled, ”Impossible! It can’t be! Ye Qing can’t just die like this! Ye Qing can’t just die like this!”
Director Huang looked awkwardly at Wu Weiguo, still oblivious to the relationship these people had with Ye Qing. But his instincts told him, this matter was now serious.
”What happened here!” Wu Weiguo asked in a deep voice.
Director Huang: ”I... We are still investigating...”
”Investigating?” Wu Weiguo glared at him, saying indignantly, ”How long do you plan to investigate? A living person was delivered to you, and just after one night, he’s dead? This is the detention center you manage?”
Director Huang was sweating profusely; in truth, he was innocent, and he had no idea what had happened. Those guards had completely bypassed him when they did what they did, and now he was the one to be blamed.
Meanwhile, those guards were also in an office. Hearing this, several of them were scared witless.
If Lin Corporation started looking into Ye Qing’s murder, they were certain to investigate thoroughly. These guards feared they could no longer distance themselves from the incident!
”What do we do? What do we do?” a guard whispered.
The captain whispered in return, ”Keep your cool, Ye Qing was suffocated to death. We’ll just insist that we knew nothing and shift the blame onto those two men.”
”But there was poison in his food from us. If they perform an autopsy, won’t everything come out? The prisoners couldn’t have poisoned his food.”
The captain frowned, acknowledging the biggest loophole. After a silence, he whispered, ”I’ll make a call to that person.”
The captain took out his phone and called Da Hong, recounting the incident to him.
Da Hong was packing up to leave Shenchuan City when this unexpected incident occurred, catching him by surprise. He hurried to seek Boss Lin for a strategy.
Boss Lin had just sold the video for a good price and was happily sipping red wine when Da Hong suddenly broke the news to him, causing him to smash his wine glass on the floor.
”Wu Weiguo, why is he looking into this?” Boss Lin’s eyes widened, and moreover, this involved Lin Huayu, which meant Lin Zhen Nan was also paying attention to this matter?
If the investigation clearly connected him to the crime, he was in deep trouble this time!
”Eldest Brother, what should we do now?” Da Hong asked in a low voice.
”Damn it, how could this happen?” Boss Lin stood and paced back and forth, circling the room several times before suddenly looking fierce and saying in a deep voice, ”No, we cannot let them find out too quickly. You must contact someone immediately and burn Ye Qing’s body!”
”Ah?” Da Hong was stunned and said, ”But won’t that make us more suspicious if we burn it?”
Boss Lin said coldly, ”To hell with suspicions! Right now, we need to destroy all the evidence and make sure there’s nothing left to find.”
”Yes!” Not daring to delay, Da Hong hurried out to take care of it.
In fact, it was an easy task, as the coroner had been bought off by them. A phone call was all it took for them to panic and immediately send the body for cremation.
”Eldest Brother, it’s done!” Da Hong entered the living room, wiping sweat from his forehead, he smiled and said, ”Now nobody will be able to find any evidence!”
”Excellent!” Boss Lin smiled lightly and handed Da Hong a glass of wine, saying, ”Here, have a drink to calm your nerves.”
”Thank you, Eldest Brother.” Da Hong picked up the glass and drained it. But in a moment, he felt a sharp pain in his stomach, surprised he held his belly and said, ”Ouch, did I eat something bad, why does my stomach suddenly hurt?”
”Some things should not be drunk carelessly!” Boss Lin said with a faint smile, standing and watching Da Hong intently.
Da Hong suddenly realized something was amiss; he stretched out a finger toward Boss Lin, his voice trembling, ”You... You... You put something in my drink...”
”Don’t you get it?” Boss Lin laughed heartily and said, ”You were the middleman responsible for contacting those people. Only with your death can this case truly lead nowhere to me. Even if there’s an investigation, at most they will only suspect Yang Shitao and his men, no one will come after me!”
