Urban Martial Saint

Zhang Daping trembled all over, fearing for his safety. He originally thought Lin Zhen Nan’s place was secure, but now it seemed not even here was safe anymore.

”He… he said… he said he was a salesman, but… but I don’t think he looks like one…” Zhang Daping’s voice trembled as he spoke.

Lin Zhen Nan also didn’t think Ye Qing looked like a salesman and his frown deepened. If someone was pretending to be a salesman to get close to Lin Corporation, he had to consider what this person was up to. His daughter’s kidnapping still made him too anxious to let his guard down. Therefore, he immediately suspected that Ye Qing had come here with some ulterior motive.

”Call the police!” Lin Zhen Nan said sternly.

”Ah?” Zhang Daping was momentarily stunned, then overjoyed. Lin Zhen Nan had personally decided to call the police, so Ye Qing was as good as dead this time. Given Lin Zhen Nan’s status in Shenchuan City, if Ye Qing dared cause trouble here, just accusing him of attempting to kidnap Lin Zhen Nan or something similar, Ye Qing would end up in jail for decades.

Zhang Daping hurriedly took out his phone to call the police, but midway through dialing, he suddenly stopped. When it came down to it, Ye Qing had come looking for him because of last night’s incident. If he really brought the police in, he’d be done for too. Besides, Ye Qing was Lin Tian You’s friend, and it was he who had set Ye Qing up to get to this point.

If things blew up, he would be the first to suffer.

Zhang Daping hesitated for a moment, then pretended to be calm, nervously saying a few words on the phone, ”Hello, police department? There’s a disturbance at Lin Corporation, yes, yes, that’s the one, Director Lin Zhen Nan’s office. Send someone quickly, or it could be dangerous!”

In reality, Zhang Daping hadn’t made the call. Putting down the phone, he acted calm and told Lin Zhen Nan, ”Director, I’ve called them, the police will be here any minute!”

Lin Zhen Nan’s attention was mainly on Ye Qing, and he did not suspect any foul play, nodding his head without paying any further attention to Zhang Daping.

While Lin Zhen Nan was distracted, Zhang Daping quietly moved towards the window. Having been to Lin Zhen Nan’s office several times, he knew there was a balcony outside the window leading up to the roof. However, there were some difficult spots, just normal eaves. A misstep could mean falling from the top of this thirty-plus story building.

But now, for the sake of survival, he had no choice but to take the risk. With the situation escalating, if Ye Qing really broke in, there’d be no escape. Not to mention how Ye Qing would deal with him, Lin Zhen Nan certainly wouldn’t let him off either.

So, it was a matter of life and death. If he could climb to the roof, he might escape unnoticed while no one was paying attention. Over the years, he had made quite a bit of money, and even if he had to leave Shenchuan City and hide his identity for a while, it was still better than going to jail.

On the other side, Ye Qing had been fighting with the tall and short attackers for nearly three minutes. Everyone was throwing quick punches. Ye Qing had taken a few hits, but both the tall and the short attackers had also been hit by Ye Qing. Comparatively, the two men were more injured than Ye Qing, with the tall one’s arm dangling uselessly, dislocated by Ye Qing’s punches.

The fight was clearly turning against them, but they were still holding on; it was their job.

Ye Qing held some respect for them, but now that things had come to this, he certainly wasn’t going to let Zhang Daping go.

Seeing the two men slowing down, Ye Qing suddenly took a step back and bellowed, ”My apologies!”

As he spoke, Ye Qing forcefully stomped his right foot, his shoe squeaking against the floor. His body sank and leaned as he shot forward like a cannonball, charging at the two men.

”Bajiquan, Stick to the Mountain!” the short one’s face changed drastically, he urgently shouted, ”Get out of the way!”

But it was too late. The tall one was sent flying by Ye Qing’s direct hit, while the short one was grazed by Ye Qing’s shoulder, stumbling several steps backward. Before he could regain his footing, Ye Qing rushed over and punched him in the chest.

Finally unable to keep standing, the short one fell to the ground, his vital energy churning wildly. A spray of blood gushed from his mouth, and a defeated look crossed his face.

The short one looked extremely pale, sighed, and said, ”I’ve lost!”

The tall one, with a bleeding head, sat dazed on the ground. He had taken the worst of it, suffering just superficial wounds. The short one’s injuries were more serious internal damage from that punch.

”I appreciate your effort!” Ye Qing gave a respectful nod to the two men and strode into Lin Zhen Nan’s office.

Lin Zhen Nan’s face was as cold as ice as he glared at Ye Qing entering the room, and he said in a heavy tone, ”I’ve already called the police, you’d better leave quickly!”

”I will leave!” Ye Qing looked around, unable to find Zhang Daping, he frowned and pressed, ”Where have you hidden Zhang Daping?”

At that moment, Lin Zhen Nan finally noticed that Zhang Daping was gone. He was stunned for a moment, then turned his head to look around, his face full of surprise.

Seeing Lin Zhen Nan like this, Ye Qing knew that he also had no idea where Zhang Daping had gone. Ye Qing walked around the office and finally focused on the window; it was the only exit from this office.

Ye Qing walked over to the window. Zhang Daping had already climbed onto the drain ledge on the other side of the balcony. The ledge, less than a foot wide, was precarious, and he could fall from the thirty-second floor at any moment. Zhang Daping’s legs were trembling, and he was so frightened he was almost peeing himself.

Seeing Zhang Daping like this, Ye Qing frowned. He didn’t dare to raise his voice, afraid that Zhang Daping would get startled if he heard him and then fall to his death. He walked to the edge of the balcony, preparing to climb over to him.

However, Lin Zhen Nan also came out and, upon seeing Zhang Daping there, said angrily, ”Zhang Daping, what are you doing?”

Hearing Lin Zhen Nan’s voice, Zhang Daping shuddered in fear, lost his balance, and fell off the drain ledge.

”Ah!” Zhang Daping let out a scream as he fell from the thirty-second floor.

Ye Qing, just standing on the balcony, had no time to grab him and could only watch as Zhang Daping fell from the thirty-second floor. It took a while before he hit the ground with a smack. Looking down from high above, the scene was a blur of blood and flesh; cries and shouts of horror echoed from all around.

Lin Zhen Nan was also stunned, staring at Zhang Daping’s mangled corpse. After a long moment, he slowly looked up at Ye Qing and said in a deep voice, ”You must take responsibility for this!”

Ye Qing didn’t speak, staring at Zhang Daping’s body for a long time before turning back to the office. However, before he could leave the floor, a group of police officers rushed up and surrounded him.

This time, it was Lin Zhen Nan who had called the police, and the Shenchuan City Police Department responded extremely quickly, considering Lin Zhen Nan’s significant influence in Shenchuan City. Moreover, the case now involved a death, making the police’s efficiency arguably the highest ever.

After arriving, the police didn’t hesitate to handcuff Ye Qing and take him away. The captain brought several men to gather information at the scene. Although Zhang Daping wasn’t killed by Ye Qing’s own hands, he was driven by Ye Qing to flee to the ledge. Lin Zhen Nan was very angry with Ye Qing, and the statements he made were very disadvantageous for Ye Qing.

Ye Qing was taken to the police department, where nobody came to question him right away. Lin Zhen Nan’s testimony was sufficiently one-sided; at this point, it was only a matter of deciding how to punish Ye Qing. His own testimony didn’t carry much significance anymore.

It wasn’t until the afternoon that Ye Qing saw the first familiar face, and naturally, it was Zhao Chengshuang.

Seeing Ye Qing, Zhao Chengshuang was so upset he nearly vomited blood and immediately exclaimed, ”Dude, have you gone mad these past few days?”

Ye Qing replied calmly, ”It has nothing to do with me.”

”I know it has nothing to do with you, but whether it does or doesn’t isn’t important now; the thing is, this has blown up!” Zhao Chengshuang said urgently, ”You’ve got some nerve, not only causing a commotion at Lin Corporation but also fighting your way into the chairman’s office. Do... do... do you have any idea what the chairman’s status is in Shenchuan City?”

Ye Qing looked at Zhao Chengshuang and retorted, ”So his high status gives him the right to cover up his subordinates’ crimes?”

”Of course, that’s not what I mean, but now, regardless of what his subordinate has done, they want to accuse you of attempted kidnapping,” Zhao Chengshuang said anxiously. ”After the last kidnapping incident at Lin Corporation, the case attracted attention from higher-ups and was regarded as a major case by our department.

Honestly, if it weren’t for the explosion case over at North Ring, the Lin Corporation case would still be our top priority. Now look at you, causing a scene in their office; the police have every reason to suspect you’re in cahoots with the last kidnappers. If that charge is pressed against you, then you’re in big trouble!”

Ye Qing furrowed his brow, ”I did not attempt to kidnap him.”

”Who cares if you did or didn’t, they’re saying you tried to kidnap him, who can prove you didn’t intend to kidnap him?” Zhao Chengshuang sighed in frustration, ”Dude, no offense, but your personality is really too stubborn. How long have you been in Shenchuan City? Think about how many enemies you’ve made here. Dammit, not one of those enemies is weak.

Those pampered youths and their families are one thing, but all of them combined are not as powerful as a single Lin Corporation. Making a scene at Lin Corporation is no different than causing trouble at the Shenchuan City Police Department.”

”Justice resides in people’s hearts; if Lin Zhen Nan is just a man who shields his subordinates, then I have nothing to say.” Ye Qing looked at Zhao Chengshuang calmly, ”It doesn’t matter who he is to me; what matters is that I had to do what I did. I couldn’t condone Zhang Daping getting away with his crimes.”

Zhao Chengshuang sighed helplessly. He genuinely admired Ye Qing’s character. But as much as he admired him, that same character was indeed at odds with society. With so many injustices in this society, if you persist in detesting evil, aren’t you making an enemy of the whole society?

”Forget it, I’ll figure something out for you,” Zhao Chengshuang said, waving his hand, ”I’ve already spoken to the people at the department, and they won’t make things difficult for you. I’ll talk to Lin Zhen Nan; don’t worry, it shouldn’t be a big problem, he is after all my uncle by marriage.”
