Urban Martial Saint

In the morning, Huo Pingping went to the hospital to get bandaged and did not go to the company afterward.

After what happened last night, it looked like her job was no longer viable. However, her boss hadn’t protected her at all last night, which angered Huo Pingping greatly, and she spent the entire morning plotting to take revenge on her boss when she found the chance.

Ye Qing had rested at home all morning; his body still needed two more days to recover completely. The events of last night had deeply offended two people, one being Master Wei, and the other Li Lianshan of West City. He didn’t know who Li Lianshan was exactly, but anyone capable of running a place like The Tycoon in the city must have a significant background.

Though Black Bear was here to ensure safety for now, Ye Qing was well aware that even Black Bear, strong as he might be, could be overwhelmed by greater numbers. The urgent priority was to recover as quickly as possible to improve his chances. Of course, he also needed to contact Zhao Chengshuang to inquire about Li Lianshan and Master Wei.

Around ten in the morning, Zhao Chengshuang’s call finally came through—it was Zhao who initiated the call.

”Ye brothers, did you really go and smash up Li Lianshan’s place last night?” Zhao Chengshuang asked abruptly as soon as the call connected.

Ye Qingping calmly replied, ”Yes.”

Zhao Chengshuang was frantic, saying, ”My… my God, what are you trying to do? Do you… do you even know who Li Lianshan is?”

”I don’t know.” Ye Qing’s voice maintained its steady calm; after all, who Li Lianshan was didn’t matter much. Back in the day on the border, he had clashed with generals from the Golden Triangle. Could Li Lianshan, however powerful he might be, really compare to a general who commanded an army?

Zhao Chengshuang urgently replied, ”You, oh you, I don’t even know what to say to you. Are you just fearless because you’re ignorant, or are you missing a brain cell? You’ve barely gotten your footing in Shenchuan City, and you’ve already offended so many people continuously. Do you really think you can take on the whole city by yourself?”

Ye Qing frowned slightly, saying, ”You didn’t call just to lecture me, did you?”

Zhao Chengshuang’s tone softened a bit, saying, ”Ye brothers, I know your temperament and principles, you’re really someone who can’t tolerate sand in their eyes. But, not everything has to be pursued to a conclusion. Like last night’s incident, who is Li Lianshan?

He’s been fighting his way in Shenchuan City for over a decade, running seven establishments, with many depending on him for their livelihoods. His reputation across the entire city is well established. If he doesn’t retaliate for his place being smashed last night, he won’t be able to survive in Shenchuan City.

Ah, I had something on last night, didn’t have my phone on, but got the news first thing this morning. Ye brothers, Li Lianshan is not like Old Five Chen. You can deal with Old Five Chen however you want, I can handle it. But Li Lianshan is different. He has already vowed to break both your hands!”

”Then I’ll wait for him!” Ye Qing replied indifferently.

”Holy crap, you really are laid-back about this.” Zhao Chengshuang’s voice grew even more anxious, ”Do you know how many people in Shenchuan City would fight to the death for Li Lianshan just because he said that? You’ll wait for him? What will you have to use to fight back if he really comes for you, allowing people to chop off your hands?”

Ye Qing shrugged, saying, ”What else can be done at this point?”

”Ye brothers, without saying anything else, I really admire your principles, and I truly consider you my best friend. I may have spoken harshly just now, but it was out of concern for you.” Zhao Chengshuang heaved a sigh, saying, ”I have an idea right now that could resolve this issue, but I don’t know if you’d be willing.”

Ye Qing replied, ”Go ahead.”

After a brief pause, Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Li Lianshan is hot-tempered, and having his place smashed up, he will definitely want to reclaim something. I’ve met him twice and have a slight acquaintance with him, and my Zhao Family has some clout in Shenchuan City. How about this? I go find him and you both have a face-to-face talk.

I think, with the influence of my Zhao Family, maybe all you need to do is pour him a cup of tea and apologize, and this matter could be settled!”

Ye Qing replied decisively, ”Impossible!”

”What do you mean ’impossible’?” Zhao Chengshuang was taken aback.

Ye Qing said coldly, ”I am a soldier; I will not pour tea or apologize to a criminal!”

Zhao Chengshuang exclaimed, ”You… why must you be so inflexible? This is just one way to resolve the issue. When under someone’s roof, you have to bow down. Besides, you’ve already been discharged. I know this is a hit to your pride, but you smashed his place last night, didn’t you also harm his pride? Essentially, by apologizing, you’d just be returning face to him, and you really lose nothing.

How can you fail to see such a simple truth?”

Ye Qing replied, ”I’m sorry, but the logic you’re presenting is something I simply refuse to consider. Li Lianshan is a criminal, dealing in dirty money. He doesn’t deserve an apology from a soldier!”

”You… you…” Zhao Chengshuang stuttered a few times, unable to figure out what else to say.

”Ah!” Zhao Chengshuang sighed heavily, asking, ”So, what do you plan to do now?”

Ye Qing, his eyebrows slightly furrowed, fell silent for a moment before asking, ”Can you buy me two days’ time?”

Zhao Cheng Shuang asked curiously, ”Two days? What are you planning to do? Ye brothers, I’m not trying to lecture you, but it’s an old saying that even strong dragons don’t overpower local thugs. Even if you bring in outsiders to help now, Li Lianshan can still bring in locals to help him. The bigger the commotion, the harder it will be to settle things.”

Ye Qing replied, ”I don’t need to call in people from outside. I just need two days.”

”What exactly are you planning to do?” Zhao Cheng Shuang was very surprised.

Ye Qing said, ”You will know when the time comes. Can you help with this?”

Zhao Cheng Shuang said, ”You’ve asked, so I will definitely help you. I will stall for you for two days. However, this issue will still need to be resolved. You better think this through!”

Zhao Cheng Shuang hung up the phone, pondered for a while, and picked up his mobile to call Boss Lin.

”Cheng Shuang, how come you have time to call me? How’s your injury?” Boss Lin asked politely.

”It’s nothing serious, just the usual saying that ’injury to the muscles and bones takes one hundred days to heal’. I won’t be up and about for a while,” Zhao Cheng Shuang exchanged pleasantries and then got straight to the point: ”I heard you have a good relationship with Li Lianshan?”

Knowing the kind of person Boss Lin is, he had already known about last night’s incident and was aware of the situation involving Ye Qing.

Recently, Boss Lin had been looking for ways to deal with Ye Qing. He thought about asking Tiger King for help but was hesitant. The incident last night, however, had pleased him greatly. Now, without his intervention, Li Lianshan would go after Ye Qing himself, saving him the trouble!

Now with Zhao Cheng Shuang calling, given his relationship with Ye Qing, he was definitely trying to help Ye Qing. Boss Lin quickly understood the situation, so he laughed it off, ”We used to have tea together in the past, but then our paths diverged and we lost contact.”

”Pass him a message for me!” Zhao Cheng Shuang paused, then said in a stern voice, ”About last night’s incident, give me two days, and I will handle it personally. If I haven’t given him an explanation after two days, then he can do as he pleases, and I will not interfere. But if he tries to harm Ye Qing within these two days, I will never let him off the hook!”

”Huh?” Boss Lin was taken aback, ”Cheng Shuang, you… you want me to pass this message to Li Lianshan? You know how explosive his temper is. Never mind whether he’ll respect your wishes; passing on such a message might even disregard my face too!”

Zhao Cheng Shuang said sternly, ”This is between him and me and has nothing to do with you. Whether or not he respects me isn’t the key, but today I, Zhao Cheng Shuang, have laid down these words here. Although I am the disgrace of the Zhao Family and everyone looks down on me, I am still a member of the Zhao Family. If he doesn’t respect me, I am ready to fight to the death.

My two brothers might not be in Shenchuan City now, but they wouldn’t mind making a trip back if something happens to me!”

Hearing this, Boss Lin shivered. If Zhao Cheng Shuang’s two brothers came back, ten Li Lianshans wouldn’t be enough. Although Zhao Cheng Shuang is a prodigal son, he rarely uses his family background. But this time he was using his family to support Ye Qing, showing he was determined.

Internally, Boss Lin cursed; Zhao Cheng Shuang was treating him, his relative, worse than he treated Ye Qing. Zhao Cheng Shuang’s interference alone, especially that statement, meant that at least for two days, Li Lianshan would definitely not dare make a move on Ye Qing.

Although Boss Lin did not know why Zhao Cheng Shuang wanted these two days, his instincts told him that something unexpected would definitely happen during these days. Thus, he was very keen to deal with Ye Qing within these two days!

But, with these two days, how could he settle things with Ye Qing? Zhao Cheng Shuang had already made his statement, and Li Lianshan certainly wouldn’t dare disrespect him.

As Boss Lin clutched the phone, deep in thought for a long while, a sudden idea surfaced in his mind. A sneer crossed his lips as he directly dialed Li Lianshan’s number.

”Who is it!” Li Lianshan’s voice still carried a trace of explosive anger. It had been a long time since his place was wrecked. The place being smashed last night was like someone stepping on his face. He was figuring out how to get payback.

”It’s me!” Boss Lin responded with a light smile.

”Old Lin.” Li Lianshan’s tone softened a bit, ”What’s up?”

Boss Lin: ”I heard about last night. How bad was the damage?”

At this comment, Li Lianshan felt a surge of anger, ”Did you call just to mock me?”

”How could I? We’ve been friends for so many years. Am I that kind of person?” Boss Lin laughed, ”I’m just passing a message for someone.”
