Urban Martial Saint

The girl was none other than Lin Huayu, and she was accompanied by her two bodyguards, looking very frustrated.

”Why are you following me so closely this early in the morning? Who would kidnap me at this hour?” Lin Huayu muttered under her breath, quite dissatisfied with the bodyguards her father Lin Zhen Nan had assigned to her.

The two bodyguards kept silent, merely following behind Lin Huayu.

”I’ll talk to my dad later and have the two of you fired!” Lin Huayu grumbled angrily, though it was really just talk. Lin Zhen Nan might dote on her, but it wasn’t without limits. These bodyguards were handpicked to ensure Lin Huayu’s safety; even if she wasn’t happy with them, he certainly wouldn’t dismiss them.

One of Lin Zhen Nan’s bodyguards, with a forced smile, said, ”Miss, the chairman is already at the company. You don’t have class this morning, so why don’t you go upstairs and sit for a bit?”

”I’m already here, of course I’m going upstairs,” Lin Huayu replied resentfully, furrowing her brows as she headed towards the Lin Corporation building.

Having heard this exchange, Mu Qingrong had a pretty good idea of who the girl was. Besides Lin Zhen Nan’s daughter, who else could be referred to as Miss here?

”Miss Lin,” Mu Qingrong hurried over, but she hadn’t reached within three meters of Lin Huayu when she was outright blocked by the two bodyguards.

Lin Huayu turned her head to see a stranger she didn’t recognize and was puzzled, ”You’re calling me?”

”Yes, Miss Lin, I have a small favor to ask of you,” Mu Qingrong said, an unusually humble tone for her who, even when discussing business with others, was always confident and composed. But this time, for the sake of Ye Qing, she couldn’t care less about her demeanor.

”I don’t even know you,” Lin Huayu said.

”Move along, move along!” Lin Zhen Nan’s bodyguards tried to shoo Mu Qingrong away.

”Miss Lin, it’s just a tiny favor, please...” Mu Qingrong didn’t want to leave and was arguing with the bodyguard.

”What are you doing?” Lin Huayu looked at the bodyguard with dissatisfaction. She was already quite unhappy with the bodyguards, so seeing them try to chase Mu Qingrong off made her want to let Mu Qingrong stay instead.

”What’s the matter?” Lin Huayu tried to walk over to Mu Qingrong but was stopped by her own bodyguards.

Exasperated, Lin Huayu shrugged, ”Come on, she’s just a girl, what could she possibly do to me?”

The two bodyguards looked Mu Qingrong up and down, determining she posed no threat before stepping aside.

Lin Huayu glared at the two bodyguards and approached Mu Qingrong, asking, ”Sister, how can I help you?”

”Miss Lin, here’s the situation.” Mu Qingrong took a deep breath and explained everything about Zhang Daping from the beginning, including how Ye Qing had come here looking for him.

After hearing Mu Qingrong’s words, Lin Huayu frowned, ”This Zhang Daping, he’s that kind of person? How could Lin Corporation have such scum among them!”

”Miss Lin, the key issue is that your father thinks our sales representative caused a scene at the company and had him sent to the police station. As you can see, our sales rep may have been impulsive, but he wasn’t the one at fault,” Mu Qingrong’s eyes reddened as she spoke softly, ”Could you please take me to see your father? I... I want to explain the situation to him personally.”

Seeing Mu Qingrong this upset, Lin Huayu immediately patted her shoulder and said, ”Sister, don’t worry, I’ll go talk to my dad about it. I refuse to believe he’d cover for such a person.”

Hearing Lin Huayu’s words, Mu Qingrong was overjoyed and quickly said, ”Miss Lin, then... then that would be a great help... ”

”It’s okay, there won’t be any trouble!” Lin Huayu reassured Mu Qingrong and hurriedly went upstairs.

Lin Huayu headed straight for Lin Zhen Nan’s office, ignoring greetings from familiar faces along the way without replying to any. Walking into her father’s office, Lin Huayu immediately voiced her discontent, ”Dad, what on earth are you doing?”

Seeing his beloved daughter, Lin Zhen Nan couldn’t help but smile and asked, ”What’s the matter? Who has upset our Miss Lin this time?”

”Who else but you!” Lin Huayu pouted.

”How did I make you angry?” Lin Zhen Nan asked with a smile.

Lin Huayu said angrily, ”That Zhang Daping is a bad egg, abusing the little power he has, using the company’s name to do all sorts of bad deeds. He even caused such a big commotion the night before last, how can you protect him?”

Lin Zhen Nan frowned slightly and said, ”How did you hear about this as well?”

”With such a big incident, how could I not hear about it?” Lin Huayu said, ”Dad, our Lin Corporation has some reputation in Shenchuan City. What are you doing? If word of this gets out, people who don’t know any better might think our company encourages such behavior. Isn’t that humiliating? How do you expect me to face people at school?”

”Aren’t you exaggerating a bit?” Lin Zhen Nan smiled, ”Zhang Daping is not the kind of person I would ever shield. He should count himself lucky he’s dead because if he weren’t, I would pursue this matter to the end and ensure he spent his life in prison. Rest assured, your father isn’t muddled; how could I protect someone like that?”

”If you’re not protecting him, then why did you send an employee of Yunchi Company to the police station?” Lin Huayu said indignantly.

It was then that Lin Zhen Nan realized why his daughter was angry. He laughed and said, ”After all that, are you taking up for this salesman?”

”Of course!” Lin Huayu said, ”I actually think this salesman is quite admirable, coming here alone to confront Zhang Daping and seek justice for his boss. He wouldn’t be able to do it without courage!”

”This person indeed has courage, but he might be too courageous!” Lin Zhen Nan shook his head, ”Do you know how many people are envious of Lin Corporation’s position today, and how many are dissatisfied? The previous kidnapping incident with you might seem like an accident, but I can’t see it that way because the ransom they demanded coincidentally matched the startup funds for our new project.

In other words, someone wanted our new project halted, someone is targeting Lin Corporation!”

Lin Huayu was taken aback as she was not aware of these matters. However, she quickly shook her head, ”But what does this have to do with what I’m talking about?”

”You might think it’s unrelated, but for certain people, any little movement is a signal,” Lin Zhen Nan, with his hands behind his back, stood by the window gazing at the bustling street and resumed his wolf-like entrepreneurial spirit, ”There are always those who want to stab you in the back, openly or secretly.

Therefore, it’s quite necessary for me to make an example of someone, to show those with ulterior motives!”

”But this salesman is innocent and besides, even if you deal with him, you’re just taking care of a lowly salesman. Who would be intimidated by that?” Lin Huayu countered.

”He is not simply a salesman,” Lin Zhen Nan said softly, ”To walk away unscathed from such a big incident at North Huanqian Bay Bar, there must be someone backing him.”

Lin Huayu: ”In that case, we shouldn’t deal with him even more. Wouldn’t that mean making an enemy of the person supporting him?”

”Hahaha...” Lin Zhen Nan laughed heartily, turning his head, ”Lin Zhen Nan has made it this far, do you think I have few enemies? This time, I want those people to see clearly that nobody can cross me, Lin Zhen Nan!”

Lin Huayu pouted, ”Dad, I somehow feel like you’re just looking for trouble.”

”Hehe...” Lin Zhen Nan chuckled softly, fondly stroking Lin Huayu’s head, ”There are many things in the adult world that you don’t understand, and I don’t want you to worry about so many things. You just need to live a carefree life, and no matter how great the danger in the world, dad will always be here to take care of you!”

Lin Huayu felt warmth in her heart as she leaned her head on her father’s shoulder, ”Dad, I don’t need you to shield me. I’m not stupid, I will definitely be able to help you with many things in the future!”

”Hehe, I’ll be waiting for that,” Lin Zhen Nan laughed joyously, sitting down at the desk, ”Don’t concern yourself with this matter, you don’t have classes today, right? Have lunch with me later. I’ve still got some unfinished business here; play around for a while, then I’ll take you out for a bit after I’m done.”

”Okay,” Lin Huayu sat down next to him. The computer on the desk was on, and she began idly clicking around.

Unintentionally, she opened a video. The video was paused and the image was slightly blurry, but it looked familiar.

Driven by curiosity, Lin Huayu played the video and looked closely. She was startled and said, ”Dad, isn’t this your office?”

Without lifting his head, Lin Zhen Nan answered, ”Oh, that’s the surveillance footage I was reviewing. The police are coming to collect evidence soon and they will copy these records.”

”Collect what evidence?” Lin Huayu asked curiously.

”It’s the evidence of the trouble caused by that person here yesterday.”

”Oh?” Lin Huayu’s curiosity was piqued, as she fast-forwarded through the video while asking, ”Dad, did that salesman really come here to cause trouble in Lin Corporation? Don’t you have so many bodyguards? How could he cause trouble?”

Lin Zhen Nan slightly furrowed his brow; truth be told, Ye Qing’s strength was something he was seriously wary of. That’s why he was adamant about sending Ye Qing to prison because he saw Ye Qing as a threat to the Lin family, and he wouldn’t allow anyone who could threaten the Lin family to exist.

The video quickly advanced to the fighting scene. Lin Huayu slowed it down and watched closely. Ye Qing was in the frame, fighting with several of Lin Zhen Nan’s bodyguards. Even without sound, Ye Qing’s movements appeared very strong.

As Lin Huayu watched the video, for some reason, she suddenly felt that the person in the frame looked familiar. She stared intently for a long while until she was completely stunned, her gaze fixed on the image of Ye Qing in the frame as if her soul had left her body, leaving only an empty shell with eyes that wouldn’t blink.

After a long while, she finally squeezed out two words from her throat, ”It’s him!”
