Urban Martial Saint

Lin Zhen Nan was indeed Zhao Chengshuang’s maternal uncle, as Zhao Chengshuang’s mother, Lin Aiyuan, was Lin Zhen Nan’s cousin. Zhao Chengshuang had grown up with Lin Huayu, which made their relationship very close.

However, when Zhao Chengshuang approached his uncle Lin Zhen Nan to plead for him, Lin Zhen Nan flatly refused him.

Zhao Chengshuang, who had never been treated this way by his uncle before, grew agitated and said, ”Uncle, you can’t be unreasonable. This whole mess was Zhang Daping’s fault. If you don’t hold Zhang Daping accountable and instead target Ye Qing like this, aren’t you worried of becoming a laughingstock?

A chairman of Lin Corporation protecting his own people like this isn’t good for the company’s growth either.”

Lin Zhen Nan gave Zhao Chengshuang a look and said, ”Each matter should be addressed on its own merits. The police are going to deal with Zhang Daping’s wrongdoings, it’s not his place to intervene. And indeed, Zhang Daping did die after being chased by him and falling down a building—that responsibility he cannot escape.

What I am pursuing now is him barging into my Lin Corporation, injuring our workers, and indirectly forcing Zhang Daping to jump. Is there anything wrong with that?”

”Uncle, those things are not important at all. You are just making a big deal out of nothing!” Zhao Chengshuang said frustratedly. ”He is my friend, after all. Can’t you just do this favor for me?”

”Chengshuang, you are no longer young. How can you keep hanging out with these bad influences?” Lin Zhen Nan glanced at Zhao Chengshuang and said, ”Your uncle watched you grow up. I know you best. You are not a bad person, just misled by those friends. You should avoid such friends in the future!”

”Uncle, he is not a bad influence. Ye Qing is a good person, a principled person!” Zhao Chengshuang insisted. ”Even my dad and granddad think he is a good person. Uncle, please don’t lump him together with those past friends of mine!”

”A good person?” Lin Zhen Nan scoffed. ”Can a good person barge into my Lin Corporation like that? Can a good person injure so many of my staff? Can a good person cause so much trouble? Plus, I’ve heard he was involved in that incident at the North Huanqian Bay Bar the night before last. Can a good person stir up such things?

And your dad and your granddad’s standards for judging people are well known to me—anyone who can fight is considered excellent by them, why else would your two cousins be trained in that way?”

Zhao Chengshuang was rendered speechless. Lin Zhen Nan had long been at odds with the Zhao Family and was barely courteous to him, one of the younger generation. Otherwise, Zhao Chengshuang would have gotten his father or grandfather to discuss this issue with Lin Zhen Nan much sooner.

”You are only seeing the surface, he really is a good person,” Zhao Chengshuang muttered depressingly.

”Alright, you are also not lightly injured; stop wandering around. Stay here for dinner tonight,” Lin Zhen Nan said disregarding Zhao Chengshuang’s pleas and stood up to leave.

Zhao Chengshuang was extremely depressed, but he knew Lin Zhen Nan’s personality; it seemed he really couldn’t persuade him. However, if he couldn’t persuade Lin Zhen Nan, then Ye Qing was indeed in big trouble. With Lin Zhen Nan’s influence, Ye Qing would definitely face prison time!

”Chengshuang, don’t bother trying anymore. You know your uncle’s temperament best,” said a middle-aged beautiful woman as she walked over after watching Lin Zhen Nan leave. ”You should know that because of the incident with your aunt, he despises these so-called martial artists the most. If it weren’t for Huayu being kidnapped once, he wouldn’t have even thought about hiring bodyguards.

And that incident with Huayu also profoundly affected him. This young man charging into his company and causing trouble, of course, he couldn’t just sit by. Frankly, he wants to make an example out of this young man, deliberately targeting him to warn certain people.”

Zhao Chengshuang angrily said, ”He should warn those bad guys, not Ye Qing, who is a good person!”

”In your uncle’s eyes, all martial artists are not good people,” the middle-aged woman sighed. ”The incident with your aunt affected him deeply. You should know he hasn’t even been able to visit your aunt’s grave once. Although he hasn’t mentioned it over the years, the pain in his heart is greater than anyone’s. Huayu is his only hope; he truly doesn’t want Huayu to suffer even the slightest injury.

The last time Huayu was kidnapped, the kidnappers demanded a three hundred million ransom, and your uncle immediately stopped the construction projects and prepared the ransom the same day. You should understand, he is genuinely afraid of anything happening to Huayu, so he wants to eliminate any threats to Huayu in their infancy. This time, he definitely won’t give up this chance to show his power!”

”With that being said, doesn’t that mean Ye Qing is in trouble?” Zhao Chengshuang looked at the middle-aged woman anxiously, ”Auntie, you... you persuade uncle, Ye Qing truly is a good person.”

”Your uncle’s stubbornness is well known. Once he makes up his mind, no one can change it. I think you’d better let it go,” the middle-aged woman sighed again. ”I think, it’s best if you find some connections and try to reduce your friend’s charges. Knowing it is you intervening, your uncle won’t be too hard on you. That’s all you can do now.”

Zhao Chengshuang was stunned, silent for a long time before he sighed heavily, ”Uncle is just venting his anger recklessly, isn’t he?”

The middle-aged woman shrugged. There was indeed an element of venting anger in Lin Zhen Nan’s actions. But then, it was Ye Qing’s misfortune to have shown up at such a time.

As Zhao Chengshuang sat simmering in his frustration, someone came through the door—it was Eldest Brother Lin.

Eldest Brother Lin came in with a smile, holding a fruit basket, and immediately spoke cheerily upon entering, ”Auntie, is uncle at home?”

Seeing Eldest Brother Lin, the middle-aged woman’s eyebrows furrowed and she said, ”He just went out. What happened, did you cause trouble again?”

”Not at all,” Eldest Brother Lin promptly walked in, smiling, ”Auntie, I’m not a child; how could I be causing trouble every day? I just haven’t visited for a while, so I came to see how you all were doing.”

Boss Lin placed the fruit basket on the table and looked at Zhao Chengshuang with a smile, saying, ”Oh, Chengshuang has also come.”

Zhao Chengshuang glared at him and said angrily, ”I’ve been meaning to find you. What exactly happened the night before last?”

”What happened?” Boss Lin asked, puzzled.

Seeing that Boss Lin looked completely unaware, Zhao Chengshuang became furious and said, ”Last time I asked you to call Li Lianshan to give Ye Qing two days. You should know that Ye Qing is my friend. But what was going on with you and those policemen the night before last?”

”Which policemen?” Boss Lin still looked baffled.

Zhao Chengshuang said, ”Those policemen, stop pretending. Those guys have already confessed, saying you paid them to kill Huo Pingping. Wow, you’ve really made it big, even bribing policemen now. You’re quite something!”

The middle-aged beauty frowned slightly, while Boss Lin cried injustice, saying, ”Chengshuang, I don’t know what you’re talking about? Me, bribing policemen, or ordering the killing of Huo Pingping? I really don’t know anything at all!”

”Keep pretending, let’s see how long you can keep it up!” Zhao Chengshuang sneered.

”I genuinely don’t know anything,” Zhao Chengshuang turned to the middle-aged beauty and said, ”Auntie, what are you talking about?”

The middle-aged beauty glanced at him and said, ”You know best what you’ve been up to outside.”

”I... What do I know?” Boss Lin still looked utterly confused.

”I’m really puzzled here, how can you act so well? I never knew you had it in you!” Zhao Chengshuang would certainly have kicked Boss Lin a few times if he hadn’t been injured, still fuming, he said, ”And you still claim you know nothing? Then answer me this, why did those policemen specifically claim it was you who paid them to kill Huo Pingping?

Also, Li Lianshan called to tell you to contact me, why didn’t you reach out? Don’t you know Ye Qing is my friend?”

”Chengshuang, I have to say a few words here,” Boss Lin said with conviction, ”That night, such a big incident happened, that explosion case, do you know how many people died? Those who died were influential and powerful figures, each one a towering presence in Shenchuan City. I know you are close to Ye Qing, but that night, someone saw Ye Qing murdering people.

What would you have done if I had called you then? Would you have just watched your friend get into trouble? Definitely not, you would certainly have tried to help Ye Qing. But getting involved in these matters could ruin anyone. We are family here, and I didn’t want you wading into this mess, so I deliberately didn’t call you. If you really want to blame me, then I’m out of words!”

Although Boss Lin spoke righteously as if he had helped Zhao Chengshuang, Zhao Chengshuang looked outraged and said, ”Stop your acting, how do you explain your bribing those policemen to kill Huo Pingping?”

”I’ve been framed, isn’t that common?”

An elderly voice suddenly came through, followed by a very capable-looking old lady entering the living room. Flanking the old lady was a fierce-looking old maid.

”Mom, why have you come out?” the middle-aged beauty hastily went to support the old lady.

Zhao Chengshuang looked restrained and quickly said, ”Aunt.”

”Grandma,” Boss Lin called fondly and even went over to support the old lady, saying, ”Grandma, you are not in good health, so you shouldn’t walk around too much. You need to rest more!”

The old lady glared and said, ”What’s wrong with my health? Which one of you young rascals wasn’t raised by me?”

”Hehe…” Boss Lin laughed dryly and said, ”Of course, Grandma’s health is very good, but I was just worried that too much walking might tire you out!”

”Hmph.” The old lady turned her head to Zhao Chengshuang and said, ”Chengshuang, you’ve been a policeman for quite some time, haven’t you been falsely accused before? It’s clear what happened just now with Xiao Linzi, it’s obviously those policemen framing him, and yet you keep questioning here.

Although you don’t carry the Lin surname, you have some relation to the Lin family, why only believe others and not trust your own people?”
