Urban Martial Saint

There was no one at home at noon, so Old Wang Ba personally cooked for Ye Qing. However, the old guy’s culinary skills were remarkably poor, and even Ye Qing found the meal he made a bit hard to accept.

While eating, the door suddenly opened, and Mu Qingrong walked in from outside.

”Yo, big beauty, have you eaten yet!” Old Wang Ba immediately perked up, holding up the dark food in his hands and said, ”Come, eat with us and try my cooking.”

Mu Qingrong lost her appetite at a glance and, ignoring Old Wang Ba, walked straight to the table and said to Ye Qing, ”Ye Qing, did you go to Lin Corporation today?”

”I did,” Ye Qing replied truthfully.

Mu Qingrong felt a sudden jolt in her heart and asked, ”Did you... Did you have any conflict with anyone from Lin Corporation?”

Old Wang Ba put down his bowl, indignantly said, ”Of course, can’t you see how beaten up he is? With this kid’s behavior, his previous injuries hadn’t even healed before he went out fighting again—isn’t this like an old immortal hating life for being too long?”

Old Wang Ba’s words left Mu Qingrong stunned for a long while. She heard from Wang Xuan that Ye Qing caused trouble at Lin Corporation, but she didn’t believe it and came back to ask Ye Qing herself. To her disbelief, this turned out to be true, and Ye Qing had even been injured.

If it had been before, Mu Qingrong would have fired Ye Qing immediately. But now, she couldn’t bring herself to do so. Even more, she knew that Ye Qing wouldn’t have caused trouble for no reason—there must be some misunderstanding.

However, no matter the misunderstanding, Lin Corporation now had a bad impression of Ye Qing, and this had become a fact that could not be changed.

Mu Qingrong fell silent for a while then spoke softly, ”Rest at home for the next few days, you don’t need to come to work. Also, don’t worry about the business with Lin Corporation, I will handle it personally.”

Ye Qing looked at Mu Qingrong, and without asking why, he handed over the business proposal he had prepared to her.

Mu Qingrong took the proposal, consoled Ye Qing a few more words, and then got up to leave.

Watching Mu Qingrong’s retreating figure, Old Wang Ba nodded repeatedly and said, ”Round buttocks, slim waist, made for bearing sons. Hey, Little Leaf, if you don’t want her, I’ll make my move!”

Ye Qing gave him a glance but said nothing. Although he didn’t know what had happened, he could tell that Mu Qingrong’s figure seemed helpless, lacking her previous commanding presence.

After waking up from an afternoon nap, the stuffiness in his chest gradually disappeared—it seemed Old Wang Ba’s medicine truly had miraculous effects. His strength was slowly returning as well, but the speed of recovery was not fast, just as Old Wang Ba had said. It looked like it would take at least three days for a complete recovery.

For these three days, Ye Qing didn’t plan to go out. With his current condition, fending for himself would be difficult if he ran into any trouble outside.

At 9:30 in the evening, Ye Qing was slowly practicing his Breathing and Meditation in his room. Old Wang Ba sat in the living room, chatting idly with Fang Tingyun, Chen Keai, Mo Xiang, and Mu Qingrong. Huo Pingping had not yet returned, so for the time being, no one was driving him away. However, the women’s attitude towards him was not very good; they basically ignored him.

Ye Qing could feel the flow of Internal Breath within his body, but many meridians were damaged from when he had forcefully opened them last time. Although he now possessed Internal Breath, he couldn’t circulate it through his body like before.

Old Wang Ba’s medicine mainly aimed at repairing the meridians. Once the meridians were healed and the Internal Breath could circulate normally, Ye Qing would be restored to his former condition. Moreover, with Internal Breath flowing, his internal injuries would also heal quickly. Neijia Kung Fu was indeed very beneficial to the body.

While Ye Qing was sitting quietly and practicing his Breathing Method, the phone on the table suddenly rang.

Ye Qing picked up the phone, and Huo Pingping’s low voice came through immediately: ”Hey, dead soldier, it’s me!”

Ye Qing was surprised; why was Huo Pingping suddenly calling him? Moreover, from her voice, it seemed like she was hiding something?

”What’s the matter?” Ye Qing asked.

”Don’t talk nonsense, just listen to me!” Huo Pingping whispered, ”I’m currently in The Tycoon’s sixth-floor VIP room Number Six, accompanying our boss with some clients. I saw someone, who I think was the one who hit that child with his car last time!”

”What?” Ye Qing’s fists immediately clenched, his eyes filled with murderous intent.

Huo Pingping continued, ”While drinking earlier, that person was talking about the incident. He bragged that he retained the license plate and bought an identical car to replace it, so when they went to investigate, there were no signs of a collision on his car. Plus, he bribed the appraiser, so there’s no evidence against him. He seemed quite proud of it and was boasting about it just now!”

”Damn it!” Ye Qing slowly exhaled the words.

”Don’t just sigh, this guy needs to be arrested quickly. I recorded some of what he said earlier; it could serve as evidence once we catch him. Call that Zhao guy. I’ve been trying to reach him several times without success, you have to get him here fast, I...”

Huo Pingping’s voice suddenly changed mid-sentence as if she was startled. At the same time, Ye Qing distinctly heard a man’s voice coming from the other end of the phone: ”What are you doing?”

”I... I’m on the phone with a friend, I told them I’d be home late tonight,” Huo Pingping’s voice was very unnatural, clearly fearful.

”Bullshit, I could hear you talking from the next room. Fucking bitch, you dare to record what I said, are you tired of living?”

As he spoke, Ye Qing could only hear a crash from the other end of the phone, interspersed with Huo Pingping’s screams. It seemed there was a fight happening over there.

Ye Qing’s heart immediately leaped into his throat. Although Huo Pingping was usually harsh with her words, it had to be said that she was actually kind-hearted. If something bad happened to her tonight because of this, Ye Qing would find it truly unacceptable!

The sounds of fighting on the other end of the phone grew louder, and Huo Pingping’s screams began to change, indicating that the situation was very dire. Not long after, there was a sudden snap, followed by silence—it seemed that Huo Pingping’s phone had been smashed.

Ye Qing held the phone, silent for a few seconds, then immediately dialed Zhao Chengshuang’s number. However, Zhao Chengshuang’s phone was off, completely unreachable.

Ye Qing hurried out of the room while several women were chatting leisurely outside, and Old Eight was boasting about his past. Yet, no one was really listening to him.

When Ye Qing came out, everyone immediately turned to look at him.

”Ye, why have you come out? With your current condition, you need good rest!” said Fang Tingyun, concerned.

”Pingping’s in trouble!” Ye Qing said gravely.

”What happened?” All of the women immediately stood up, each one of them shocked.

Ye Qing briefly explained the situation with Huo Pingping. After hearing what Ye Qing had said, everyone was stunned.

”Call the police! Quick, call the police!” Chen Keai was the first to respond urgently.

”With this kind of situation, I fear even the police will be of no use!” Old Eight sneered, saying, ”If that person could bribe the appraiser, he must have strong connections. Forget them even dispatching the police, even if they do, it’s unlikely they’ll save Huo Pingping!”

Chen Keai glared and said, ”Impossible, they are the people’s police!”

Old Eight shrugged and replied, ”What’s so impossible? For such a big car accident, the perpetrator is still at large. Are you still naively believing in those so-called police?”

Chen Keai retorted indignantly, ”Sure, there are some black sheep among the police, but you can’t deny the majority of them because of that!”

”You, you’re just too naive. Do what you want, if you want to call the police, go ahead,” Old Eight said, waving his hand dismissively, then turned to look at Ye Qing, adding, ”I think we need to come up with another plan right away. Waiting for the police, we might as well go and collect Huo Pingping’s body!”

Ye Qing furrowed his brows, and after a moment of silence in a heavy voice, he said, ”I’ll save her!”

”Damn, stop joking around!” Old Eight suddenly widened his eyes and said, ”You save her? What can you do to save her? You can barely save yourself right now, and you want to go save her?”

”We can’t just sit here and wait!” Ye Qing put on his jacket and said sternly, ”I’ll go to The Tycoon first, try to buy some time. Director Mu, please do your best to call the police and get them to dispatch officers. Cutie and Tingyun, you guys try to contact Zhao Chengshuang.”

”Are you sure you can do it?” Fang Tingyun asked anxiously.

”Don’t worry!” Ye Qing approached the door, ready to leave, but then paused and took a piece of paper out of his pocket, handing it to Old Eight.

”If you don’t hear from me within half an hour, contact this person. Say it’s a friend of Green Wolf, and ask for a favor!”

Old Eight took the slip of paper, which had a phone number written on it.

”Whose number is this?” Old Eight asked curiously.

”I don’t know either!” Ye Qing said and then walked away decisively.

”You don’t know, and you’re telling me to contact them!” Old Eight cursed, but at this point, he could only clutch the piece of paper, and if all else failed, he would have to make that call.

Ye Qing was speaking the truth; he really didn’t know whose number it was. This was the number Green Wolf had given him upon leaving the Special Forces, telling him to call it if he ever needed anything in Shenchuan City. Ye Qing didn’t know who the owner of the number was, but since Green Wolf had said so, the owner must have some clout.

Right now, Ye Qing was grasping at straws; he couldn’t possibly stand by and watch Huo Pingping suffer!

The Tycoon wasn’t far from Ye Qing’s neighborhood. He ran downstairs, hailed a taxi at the entrance, and went straight to The Tycoon.

At this time of night, the streets were not crowded, and with Ye Qing urging the driver to hurry, the ride was quick. In less than five minutes, Ye Qing was standing at the entrance of The Tycoon.

The Tycoon was a well-known nightclub in Shenchuan City. On the first floor was a luxurious bar, where one could hear deafening noise upon entering. At night, this was the liveliest spot in the city, with people dancing wildly on the dance floor, men and women coming here to vent their excess hormones.

Ye Qing passed by the bar without a second glance and headed straight to the fifth floor.

Starting from the second floor, there were private rooms, and the higher one went, the more upscale the rooms became. The fifth floor was designated for VIP rooms, and the patrons there were either rich or noble. An average night out here could cost around ten thousand per person. One would need a substantial fortune to even consider stopping by.
