Urban Martial Saint

Li Lianshan led Ye Qing to the deserted stairwell at the end of the hallway, suddenly turned to look at Ye Qing, and said, ”Ye brothers, I’ll tell you the truth. It was my idea to have Huo Pingping kidnapped. Tonight’s incident, I also provoked it. All these issues were started by me. If you have any grievances, just come at me, kill or maim as you please, I absolutely won’t fight back!”

Ye Qing looked at Li Lianshan and slowly shook his head, saying, ”No need.”

Li Lianshan urgently said, ”What do you mean no need? Why not? Tonight’s affair has caused such a stir, all because of me. Your three friends were severely injured, all because of me; are you really not angry?”

”Angry,” Ye Qing truthfully replied.

Li Lianshan said, ”Since you’re angry, then I’m standing right here, let you vent however you want. If you want to hit me, just hit me, and if hitting doesn’t satisfy you, you can chop me with a knife, I absolutely won’t fight back!”

”I won’t hit you,” Ye Qing said.

”Why not?” Li Lianshan, looking at Ye Qing, asked, ”Do you look down on me? Think hitting me would dirty your hands? Yes, I, Li Lianshan, am a scoundrel, but I damn well won’t run from responsibility!”

Ye Qing looked at Li Lianshan and said, ”You being able to say this shows that you still have a sense of responsibility, still a real man. Moreover, you also participated in the rescue tonight, and it was you who saved Huo Pingping. You, as a person, still have kindness in you.”

Li Lianshan stared at Ye Qing for a long time before suddenly clapping his hands, exclaiming, ”A real man! Yes, I’m damn well a real man! No, since I am a real man, I should take responsibility for my mistakes. If you don’t hit me, I can’t accept it!”

Ye Qing remained silent for a while then softly said, ”I don’t hit my friends.”

”Ah?” Li Lianshan stared at Ye Qing for a long time, suddenly exclaiming joyfully, ”You... you... you really consider me a friend?”

Li Lianshan had never imagined in his life that being seen as a friend by another person could be such an honor. Because, he had really started to admire Ye Qing, admire Ye Qing’s skills, admire Ye Qing’s loyalty, admire Ye Qing’s principles. And this admiration was the source of the honor!

Ye Qing smiled faintly, softly saying, ”If you truly feel guilty, then help me with a small favor.”

Li Lianshan excitedly asked, ”What favor? Just say it, here in Shenchuan City, whatever I can do, I won’t be vague!”

Ye Qing pondered for a moment then said, ”Black Bear is my teammate, he has just been discharged from the military, just arrived in Shenchuan City, and doesn’t have a job. Huo Pingping had a falling out with her company a few days ago, and her job is likely on the line. Could you help them both find a job for now?”

”I thought it was something difficult, that’s too easy!” Li Lianshan clapped his hands and said, ”Black Bear seems quite capable, let him come work here at my place overseeing the venue, his monthly income will definitely be no less than twenty thousand.

As for Huo Pingping, she is pretty eloquent, how about letting her work at The Tycoon for a while, and once she is familiar with it, I can promote her to manager of The Tycoon.”

Ye Qing softly said, ”I don’t want them doing these kinds of jobs.”

Li Lianshan paused for a moment, quickly understanding Ye Qing’s intentions. He remained silent for a good while then said, ”Ye brothers, you seem to think that the nightlife scene is filled with sin. But, existence is reason itself, the increasing number of nightlife spots in Shenchuan City shows this industry has prospects. Of course, the involvement with underground elements is inevitable.

However, I can assure you, I won’t let Black Bear and Huo Pingping get involved with those affairs, how about that?”

Ye Qing nodded and said, ”With your word, I’m reassured. By the way, I heard your friend was injured while saving Pingping, how is he?”

Li Lianshan replied, ”He’s okay, took a bullet, will probably need to lie down for a while. But it didn’t hit any vital areas, it won’t affect him later.”

Ye Qing: ”Give him my thanks.”

”With your word, he’ll definitely be thrilled,” Li Lianshan glanced at Ye Qing and laughed, ”Scarface really admires people who can fight; he’s already making you his new idol, in his heart you hold the same status as Li Xiaolong.”

Ye Qing also smiled, Scarred Yang was indeed a bit arrogant, but he was much better than people like Yang Wei and Young Master Ding. Because people like Yang Wei and Young Master Ding had no sense of right and wrong in their hearts, acted without scruple, and even considered killing as nothing serious; they were truly terrifying.

That evening Ye Qing stayed in the hospital to take care, while the women eventually went back to rest; after all, they still had to work the next day.

Huo Pingping worried the women might face some danger, so she suggested Ye Qing go back to protect them. Zhao Chengshuang directly dismissed her concerns, saying that with such a huge incident in Shenchuan City tonight, who would dare commit such an outrageous act at this time? That would be outright delivering oneself to the muzzle of a gun.

So, during this time, the women were absolutely safe; anyone daring to touch them would be pouring fuel on the fire, seeking their own death.

With Zhao Chengshuang’s assurances, the women felt much more at ease. Ye Qing staying here wasn’t really needed for his caretaking; Li Lianshan had specifically paid for two skilled nurses to stay here and watch over things.

As for Old Wang Ba, the Traitor Dealer, he was also eager to go back home with the women to sleep, but was collectively abandoned by the women. When he returned to the hospital wanting to freeload a bed, but there were no beds left, he could only dejectedly head home in the middle of the night.

The next morning, after catching some sleep, Ye Qing rushed to the company early. He hadn’t been to work for several days now, and holding Mu Qingrong’s salary, he felt he should still come and check in.

Everything in the company was normal, except for Wang Xuan questioning Ye Qing sarcastically as to why he hadn’t come to work, nothing else happened. Mu Qingrong wasn’t in the office either, having said that he had gone out early in the morning to handle some business, but it was unclear what he was doing.

Ye Qing sat in the company for a while and seeing that there was no pressing matter, he returned to the hospital. In the morning, Zhao Jianjun came again to visit Zhao Chengshuang and took the opportunity to learn about last night’s situation from Ye Qing.

When Ye Qing mentioned that the explosion case was related to the Beihua Residential Area and the explosive deaths of Uncle and Nephew Old Five Chen, Zhao Jianjun couldn’t help but frown deeply. He knew about the issue in Beihua Residential Area from Zhao Chengshuang and understood it was a man-made accident.

The explosion in Beihua Residential Area and the deaths of Uncle and Nephew Old Five Chen were still acceptable to him, most likely acts of revenge from the old woman’s family. But what about the series of explosions last night at North Ring? Could it be that all those involved were enemies of the old lady?

Zhao Jianjun asked, ”If you see the bomber again, could you recognize him?”

”Yes,” Ye Qing replied confidently.

”That’s good!” Zhao Jianjun nodded, then said, looking at Ye Qing, ”Someone from the Provincial Department has issued an order, you are not implicated as of now. However, there were quite a few witnesses at the scene claiming you killed a man, which is not good for public opinion. Although there’s this order from the province, we still need to provide the public with an explanation.

It seems you can’t get completely clear of this.”

Ye Qing wasn’t planning to escape all responsibility either. He looked at Zhao Jianjun and said, ”I admit to killing someone. Whatever the penalty, I’ll accept it!”

”You sure are magnanimous!” Zhao Jianjun said after giving Ye Qing a look. ”However, you don’t need to bear this responsibility. After the explosion, all the corpses were burned beyond recognition, who can say whether they were killed by you or by the bomb and the fire. Thus, at most you are liable for a charge related to assault, not murder. Right now, the key is to find that bomber.

Someone has to take responsibility for this case in order to give the public an explanation!”

”Is there something I need to do?” Ye Qing asked.

Zhao Jianjun replied, ”If you could find that bomber, it would naturally be very beneficial for you. If you can’t find him, don’t worry about it.”

Ye Qing nodded, saying, ”I’m also looking for him.”

”It would be best if you find him.” Zhao Jianjun nodded, was about to leave, but suddenly remembered something, turned around, and asked curiously, ”By the way, what is your relationship with Director Liu from the Provincial Police Department?”

”Which Director Liu?” Ye Qing was surprised, as he had never heard of this person.

”It’s Director Liu Changping of the Provincial Police Department,” Zhao Jianjun said, looking at Ye Qing. ”He personally made the call to Zhou Tingjun to release you, don’t you know him?”

Ye Qing shook his head, he really didn’t recognize this person.

”How come? If you don’t know him, why would he make such a call in the middle of the night?” Zhao Jianjun was utterly confused, only having found out early this morning that it was Liu Changping who personally called Zhou Tingjun. If it were anyone else, they wouldn’t have the influence.

But if Liu Changping doesn’t know Ye Qing, why would he make that call?

Ye Qing was even more confused than Zhao Jianjun, completely clueless about what Zhao Jianjun was talking about. Liu Changping called Zhou Tingjun? Who is Liu Changping? And who is Zhou Tingjun?

Back in the hospital room, there was one more person, Li Lianshan, who was chatting with Zhao Chengshuang.

Upon seeing Ye Qing enter, Li Lianshan immediately stood up and said, ”I was wondering where you ran off to, have you eaten? How about we go out and grab something to eat?”

”It’s fine to eat here.” Ye Qing walked into the room and sat down, Li Lianshan had brought a lot of nutritious items.

Ever since Ye Qing considered him a friend, Li Lianshan instantly stopped treating himself as an outsider, treating Zhao Chengshuang, Black Bear, and Huo Pingping as his own friends, even coming to visit.

”Alright, then we’ll eat here. I’ll have them make something and send it over,” Li Lianshan agreed readily and sat down, continuing, ”I was just talking to Shuang about you. Ye brothers, what kind of Special Forces were you in before, how come you’re so good at fighting?”

Black Bear said proudly, ”The captain was ranked first in combat among our Special Forces!”

”Really?” Li Lianshan immediately widened his eyes and exclaimed, ”My god, Special Forces are already formidable, and you were the top in the entire army, no wonder you are so incredible. Teach me some moves sometime, I want to show off too.”

”What? Are you a martial arts aficionado?” Huo Pingping mocked, ”Always fighting and killing, what’s so good about that. I haven’t seen you learn anything good, just these kinds of things.”

Li Lianshan said, ”You can’t say that. Men are naturally aggressive creatures, who doesn’t want to be strong!”
