The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1496: Chapter 1496: Mid-Autumn Festival Gifts

Wei Ronghua is still working as a shopkeeper, but his boss seems to have some ideas that don’t quite align with his, and is quite dissatisfied with him.

Old Master Miao had a deep impression of Wei Ronghua. Now, with a change in his mindset, he became more convinced of Wei Ronghua’s capabilities and felt more strongly that he shouldn’t be left to idle in Donggu County.

He thought of Shu Yu. He knew that Shu Yu’s business would continue to grow, and although he didn’t know if she needed more people at the moment, he still introduced Wei Ronghua to her. Whether or not to hire him was up to Shu Yu.

Shu Yu became very interested in this Wei Ronghua. Just how capable must he be to earn the goodwill of Old Master Miao, a man once known for his ruthless ways but who spared him out of appreciation?

She had already planned to visit Donggu County tomorrow. As it turned out, today Daniu told her that someone in Donggu County had already planted sunflowers.

Given this, she had even more reason to take a look.

Thinking of this, Shu Yu raised her head and said to everyone, ”I have matters to attend to tomorrow. Daniu and Dazhuang, you will go to the prefecture to promote. As for here, I’ll leave it to the three of you. In three days it will be the Mid-Autumn Festival. I’ve already made a list for the festival gifts. Wang Kangfu, tomorrow you and Ruan Dali will go to the county town to find Ying Dong and bring the items over. Since there are many people in the workshop, it might take two or three trips. Distribute them on the day before Mid-Autumn. Luo Chun, oversee the workshop.”

The group was slightly excited and quickly responded, ”Yes.”

They really enjoyed receiving gifts during the New Year and festivals. Even when Shu Yu was sometimes not present, she would have Daniu prepare them.

In truth, the items weren’t many; for the Mid-Autumn Festival, it was just mooncakes, pomegranates, and osmanthus wine.

The mooncakes were custom-ordered from an old brand in the county town, each person got two pomegranates, and the osmanthus wine was ordered from the Jiang family’s Auspicious Wine Shop.

The prices were reasonable, meant for festivity.

But for the working staff, these items weren’t cheap if they bought them themselves, and they were reluctant to spend the money. Now that the boss had given them out to everyone, how could they not be happy?

Shu Yu nodded, ”On Mid-Autumn Day, wrap up work early. There will be some lantern shows and riddle-guessing activities in town at night. Anyone interested can join in the fun, and it’s fine to come to work a bit late the next day. There are lots of tasks since we’re nearing the opening, but I must trouble everyone.”

”Not troubling at all, boss. You’ve already been very considerate.” In other workshops, where would they find the chance for staff to leave work early to see the lantern shows?

Moreover, since their workshop was far away, not many would actually go to the county town for the festivities.

Shu Yu smiled, ”Alright, let’s leave it at that. If there are any questions, we’ll discuss them later. You all go ahead and get busy.”

Wang Kangfu took the Mid-Autumn Festival list handed over by Shu Yu and gradually exited with the others.

Shu Yu stretched and looked at Daniu, ”Is there anything else? Grandmother has come by, do you want to go see her?”

”Grandmother is here?” Daniu was surprised.

Shu Yu nodded and mentioned her illness.

Daniu frowned. As the eldest grandson of the Lu family, he knew a bit about that aunt’s situation.

”It’s good to check. Grandmother indeed misses Auntie, and when she mentioned her before, she wasn’t in a good mood. Unfortunately, we couldn’t do anything back then. Now that we can, it’s always right to inquire a bit.”

Since the old lady had come, Daniu naturally needed to visit. The two tidied up and left the workshop directly.

As they boarded the carriage and were nearing the Manor, Daniu looked at the distant sunflower field and suddenly turned to Shu Yu, saying, ”Oh yes, there’s something I almost forgot to tell you.”
