The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1489: Chapter 1489: Taking Her Out for a Change of Scenery

The old lady’s illness gave the Lu family a scare.

But when it came to contributing money and effort, no one hesitated. Even though the couple from Third Uncle’s house was reluctant, they still resolutely handed the money to Lu Erbai, turning their faces to the side, pretending not to see.

Others also contributed as much as they could.

All the money was given to Meng Pei by Lu Erbai, asking him to help contact more people.

However, later Shu Yu privately found Meng Pei and gave him an additional amount. She knew that finding people wasn’t easy, and it makes a difference whether someone is attentive or not. Having ample money is never a bad thing.

The matters concerning the old lady were settled just like that.

However, due to the old lady’s illness, Shu Yu’s original plan to visit the workshop was delayed and had to be postponed to the next day.

Early the next morning, she first went to the old lady’s courtyard to take a look before setting off.

Unexpectedly, the old lady seemed quite spirited, not only was she no longer feverish, but her complexion had also improved significantly.

At this hour, the weather was quite cool and it wasn’t raining, so she was in the courtyard doing Tai Chi with Hua Xian.

The Tai Chi was taught to her by Old Doctor Zhao to use for physical exercise.

Seeing Shu Yu, the old lady stopped and smiled, ”You all, every one of you comes to see me before going out. I’ve said I’m fine. Look, my complexion is rosy again. Zhao Xi checked my pulse and said I’m fully recovered.”

She seemed quite pleased; none of those young ones recover from a fever as quickly as she did.

Shu Yu found it amusing; the old lady’s recovery was quick thanks to her emotional release and the medication helping her along.

”It’s good to see you’re alright, Grandma. I’m off to the workshop now.”

”Go on.” Shu Yu turned to leave.

But after taking a few steps, she stopped again, returned to the old lady’s side, and smiled as she asked, ”Grandma, do you want to come with me to the manor for a walk?”

The old lady’s eyes instinctively lit up.

Shu Yu thought: As expected, she wants to go out for a change too.

Actually, the old lady mostly stayed home, or else went to the Yiren Pavilion or Liufang Alley, occasionally visiting Third Uncle and Fourth Aunt, but that place was a bit far, so she didn’t go often.

However, when it came to activities like sightseeing, taking a walk in the countryside, or hiking, she truly hadn’t done any of that.

Even Shu Yu’s manor, she had only been there once despite it being so long.

Shu Yu felt it was necessary to take her there for a look, to cultivate her mood and change her environment.

”Will it delay your work?” The old lady was a bit hesitant, but she didn’t refuse, clearly wanting to go.

”No, the manor has my Sister-in-law and Little Zaozao; you can chat with them, walk through the fields, and when I finish my work, we’ll come back together.”

The old lady thought it over and realized it was feasible, so she simply nodded, ”Alright, then wait for me a bit while I change my clothes.”

She quickly turned back into the house, calling out excitedly to Hua Xian.

Shu Yu only had a couple of sips of tea before she came out, wearing old clothes dug out from the bottom of the chest, with a bamboo hat on her head.

Shu Yu blinked, ”Grandma, you are...”

”Oh, I’m just thinking I might need to go into the field, so I’m wearing this to shield myself from the sun.” She tugged at her clothes, still quite excited.

Shu Yu felt a bit dazed. The old lady used to be accustomed to working in the fields, and now that she’s no longer farming, she actually looks forward to it. Perhaps this is one of the reasons for her loneliness?

She said nothing more, smiling as she hooked her arm through the old lady’s and walked outside.
