The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1464: Chapter 1464: Meng Han Has Seen Him Before

Ah Ning sped up as she was about to reach the book room.

Unexpectedly, she stumbled, and as she climbed the porch steps, she fell to the ground with a ’thud’.

Ying Xi, who was guarding the book room’s door, quickly ran over, crouched in front of her, and asked nervously, ”Miss Ah Ning, are you alright?”

Ah Ning lowered her head, rubbed her knee, and looked up at Ying Xi with a smile, ”I’m fine, it’s an old issue.”

Previously, due to malnutrition, Ah Ning would stumble and fall even while walking. Later, with better food and accommodation, this didn’t happen anymore. But as a child, little bumps and falls were inevitable; occasionally, she would run too fast and fall unnoticed.

Especially when Ah Ning followed Old Doctor Zhao to the mountain to collect herbs, falling was normal when the road was difficult.

Whenever this happened, Ah Ning would jokingly say it was an old issue.

Having fallen with experience, Ah Ning reflexively adjusted her posture a bit while falling, so she wasn’t hurt much.

Only her clothes got a bit dirty, and she patted them with her hand before standing up.

Seeing that she was alright, Ying Xi slowly sighed in relief but still said, ”Let me carry you; are you here to see Miss?”

”Yes, I forgot to take my package.”

As the two were speaking, Ying Xi squatted down to pick up Ah Ning, facing away from the courtyard entrance, so neither of them noticed a figure quickly running towards the book room.

Accompanied by the voice saying, ”Ah Ning— I heard you came back—” the figure had already run into the book room.

Both Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu were stunned, looking at the visitor in surprise.

The book room here was Shu Yu’s private territory; generally, family members knew not to disturb her when she was busy, and servants were even less likely to approach.

Even young ones like Ah Ning or the more rebellious Dabao were strictly instructed not to disturb Shu Yu’s important work unless there was something crucial.

Like today, Ah Ning came over after seeing Ying Xi at the door not stopping her before she went in.

But no one expected there would be an exception called Meng Han.

Seeing the book room’s door open and no one guarding, Meng Han marched straight in.

Meng Yunzheng’s face immediately darkened, not only because of Meng Han’s interruption but also because she was from the Meng family; such behavior was utterly inappropriate.

Even Shu Yu lost her smile at this moment, her expression tightened.

However, Meng Han didn’t notice them at all; her gaze fell on the desk, and she exclaimed in surprise, ”Isn’t that Young Master Jiang?”

Shu Yu and Meng Yunzheng both froze, glancing at each other.

Then they asked, ”Ah Han, do you know him?”

As Shu Yu spoke, she discreetly put away the other two scrolls.

As Meng Han raised her head, Meng Yunzheng and Shu Yu returned to their normal expressions.

She assumed the brief chill that had filled the book room moments ago was just her illusion.

Meng Han stepped forward and carefully examined the portrait on the desk once more, nodding affirmatively, ”It is indeed Young Master Jiang. Brother, Sister Shuyu, do you know him? Why is there his portrait here?”

Meng Yunzheng put down the half-painted brush back on the holder, raised his gaze, and asked her, ”Where did you see Young Master Jiang, and in what place did you see him?”

His expression slightly serious, Meng Han suddenly became nervous, sensing inexplicably that her answer was very important.

”I saw him at home, actually.”
