The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1459: Chapter 1459: The Three Portraits Brought by Ah Ning

Ah Ning quickly opened the first scroll, ”This person is the cousin of Young Master Tan’s aunt. It is said that his family’s fortune declined, and although he was also studying, he stayed in the town. Two years ago, he went to the prefecture for the examination and temporarily stayed at the Tan Family.”

Shu Yu looked at the person in the portrait and had to admit that Young Master Tan’s drawing skills were quite good.

The person on the scroll was vividly depicted, with distinct features. The eyes bore some resemblance to Young Master Tan’s, but the expression was tense, giving an impression of being difficult to get along with.

Ah Ning said, ”During the examination period, the Tan family’s cousin stayed at the Tan Family, and it was originally peaceful. But one day, he acted very frantically, which Young Master Tan noticed. Young Master Tan asked a few more questions, and the cousin trembled twice, accidentally shaking out a golden bracelet he was hiding in his arms. Later, when Young Master Tan asked again, he found out that the cousin had stolen the bracelet while paying respects to Mrs. Tan.”

”Second Sister, you mentioned that Young Master Tan might have seen something he shouldn’t have and was silenced. Young Master Tan said he didn’t know if this was the case, but he felt that the cousin probably wouldn’t go so far as to kill him over this issue.”

After all, Young Master Tan concealed the incident and returned the golden bracelet as if nothing had happened.

The Tan family’s cousin probably did such a thing for the first time and felt very ashamed. The next day, he found an excuse to move out, and after the exam, he returned home without even waiting for his results.

Perhaps due to the pressure, he didn’t pass the examination either.

After Ah Ning finished speaking, she lifted her gaze to Shu Yu, ”Second Sister, do you think it could be him?”

Shu Yu shook her head, ”The likelihood is low.”

Meng Yunzheng also said, ”Since Tan family’s cousin reached the point of stealing a golden bracelet, he was evidently in a tight financial spot. But whether it was poison or bribing several servants of the Tan Family, both would need a considerable amount of money. It wouldn’t be enough just to prevent Young Master Tan from revealing his theft.”

Ah Ning blinked; since both Second Sister and Brother-in-law said it wasn’t him, she set the scroll aside.

She opened the second one, which depicted an older middle-aged man.

But this art style...seemed somewhat different from before. It was not only crude but also resembled nothing like a person.

Shu Yu’s mouth twitched, ”This one wasn’t drawn by Young Master Tan, was it?”

Ah Ning chuckled, ”Right, because Young Master Tan only met this person twice and wasn’t very familiar with his appearance. Two years have passed, and he couldn’t draw it. So he found someone else to check this person’s appearance and then had it drawn.”

Ah Ning said, ”This person is a master at a martial arts school located two streets away from the Tan Family. Two years ago, Young Master Tan was tired from reading and went for a walk. When he passed the alley behind that martial arts school, he saw this master beating someone. Young Master Tan shouted, and the master turned back and glared at him before walking away. Strangely, the person being beaten didn’t even thank Young Master Tan and hurriedly ran out of the alley.”

”Later, Young Master Tan saw that master once more, and that master recognized him and gave him a vicious glare. He hasn’t seen him since.”

Shu Yu carefully examined the person’s face in the drawing and didn’t comment for the moment, instead looking at the last scroll, ”What about the third one?”

Ah Ning opened the scroll and said, ”The third one is a young gentleman. But, Second Sister, I feel like I’ve seen this gentleman somewhere before.”
