The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1471: Chapter 1471: Village Chief and He Know Each Other?

Xiang was very worried, and Madam Ruan was helping her with ideas.

But both of them had limited connections and similar dispositions—not particularly decisive or opinionated—so even if they worried themselves sick, they couldn’t solve the problem.

As for Shu Yu, being an unmarried young girl, she really wasn’t familiar with this kind of matter and felt powerless to help.

So while Xiang and Madam Ruan whispered to each other, trying to come up with ideas, Shu Yu could only gaze out the window at the scenery.

In any case, it was evident that Mrs. Xiang didn’t truly expect her to solve the issue; she just needed to vent a little to feel better.

However, as for suitable candidates within the workshop, she could ask Brother Daniu and his wife to keep an eye out.

With this in mind, the carriage steadily arrived at Dongan Province.

The two groups parted ways shortly after entering the city; Madam Ruan needed to pick up goods, which she would do the next day when returning. Today, she and Xiang planned to wander around, getting a sense of the latest popular clothing colors, styles, and designs in the prefecture to broaden their horizons and seek inspiration.

Ever since Madam Ruan and Shuyou took over Yiren Pavilion, they had frequently come to the prefecture to broaden their perspectives.

Not just the prefecture but also some surrounding county towns were part of their visits.

And indeed, after they returned from their visits and summarized their findings, they did end up gaining some inspirations.

Later, when Shuyou got married and soon after became pregnant, these outings became more of a rotation among Madam Ruan, Xiang, Fu Xiangdi, and Lanhua.

Thus, the two of them had become familiar with the area.

Madam Ruan instructed Shu Yu, ”After visiting the Tan Family, come find us at the inn.”

They typically stayed for a day when they came here, much like a business trip. They got into the habit of staying at the same inn, which was conveniently near the Tan Family’s cloth shop for picking up goods.

Shu Yu nodded, ”Alright, Mother, Mrs. Xiang, you take your time strolling. I’ll head off now.”

Madam Ruan waved her off, watching the carriage head towards the Tan Family.

Shu Yu’s unexpected visit left the Tan Family gatekeeper somewhat surprised, given that Elder Zhao and Ah Ning had returned the day before.

He quickly welcomed Shu Yu inside.

When Shu Yu walked into the front hall, she found Young Master Tan and Old Master Tan in conversation.

It had only been a few days, but Young Master Tan appeared much healthier. He had previously been moving only within his room, but now he was walking all the way to the front yard.

”Monarch Lu Xiang, why have you come at this time?”

Old Master Tan promptly had someone serve tea, smiling at Shu Yu.

Shu Yu first asked a couple of concerned questions regarding Tan Cheng’s health, then set down her teacup, hesitating before saying, ”The reason for my visit is that I have something to ask Young Master Tan.”

”Please, Monarch Lu Xiang, speak.”

”Elder Doctor Zhao mentioned to me upon returning home yesterday that the Tan Family already had a lead on the culprit. I initially thought this was great news; since there was a lead, and Young Master Tan was recovering, the Tan Family could report to the authorities and resolve the matter, leading to a joyful conclusion—I’d just congratulate you directly. But I asked Elder Doctor Zhao who the culprit was and got a familiar name—Jiang Kuanyu.”

Both Old Master Tan and Tan Cheng were taken aback, ”Do you know him, Monarch Lu Xiang?”

Shu Yu nodded, smiling bitterly, ”Yes, and knowing him has left me quite uneasy. To speak truthfully, last year I bought a manor and over a hundred mu of land, and the original owner was Jiang Kuanyu.”

Old Master Tan was quite surprised, ”You bought that manor from him?”
