The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Capítulo 1482: Chapter 1482: The Old Lady’s Regret

Seeing Shu Yu and Ying Xi standing at the door, Hua Xian was quite surprised, “Second Miss?”

Shu Yu smiled at her, poking half her head through the door. Indeed, she saw the old lady sitting by the table, looking out the window, lost in thought. Hearing the noise by the door, she lifted her head and looked over.

“Grandmother, you’re still up?”

The old lady was startled for a moment, then quickly waved her over, “Come in quickly, it’s raining outside.”

Shu Yu entered and said to Hua Xian, “Go get something to eat with Ying Xi.”

Hua Xian blinked and looked behind her, where Ying Xi was just putting away the umbrella and raised the food box in his hand towards her.

Hua Xian smiled, turned around and went out, gently closing the door to leave the grandmother and granddaughter alone.

Shu Yu walked in with the food box, placed it on the table, and as she opened the lid to scoop out the noodles, she said, “I was in the study looking at the account books, and before I knew it, it was so late. Just happened to be a bit hungry, so I went to the kitchen to make some noodles as a late-night snack. I saw the lights were still on in this courtyard, so I came over, lest I eat in the dark kitchen without any flavor. Grandmother, accompany me for a bit?”

The old lady’s heart felt warm, she knew this was just an excuse Shu Yu made.

This was because she saw her eating little at night and deliberately made this, otherwise why would there be so much.

She pulled Shu Yu to sit down, “Alright, I’ll accompany you for a bit.”

Shu Yu immediately pushed a bowl of noodles to her, “I haven’t cooked personally for a long time, hurry, taste if my skills have regressed?”

The old lady took a bite, “Hmm, delicious.”

“Then eat a bit more.”

The grandmother and granddaughter sat face to face, no longer speaking, quietly and warmly finishing a bowl of noodles.

It was late at night, fearing the old lady couldn’t digest it, Shu Yu supported her to walk around the room.

The old lady held her hand, somewhat reassured, “You don’t have to stay with me, it’s so late already, go rest.”

“No rush.”

The old lady sighed, “I know you’re worried about me, I’m fine.”

Shu Yu blinked at her.

The old lady chuckled, “Truly, I’m fine, just feeling a bit uncomfortable in my heart. But over the years, I’ve seen off my parents, my brother, and your grandfather, I’ve been through so much that I’m used to it. It’s just that I have some regrets.”

Shu Yu’s heart eased a bit, it was a good thing that the old lady was willing to talk about it.

Previously, ever since she came back, she was just in a daze, not saying a word. Clearly, she went into the room to rest but ate little, and was still up so late. That was what was worrying.

Now that she’s willing to talk, Shu Yu felt it was a good sign.

“Regrets? Are you regretful you didn’t see Grandma Liu one last time?”

The old lady shook her head, “No, what I regret is that we two didn’t reconcile. Your Grandma Liu, that person, went through a lot of hardships in the early years, so when I was doing well, she would always be sarcastic to me. At that time, when I was young, I just thought she had something wrong in her head, it’s not like I made her life hard, so why take it out on me? But she wasn’t a bad person, though sarcastic, she would still help when she could, just never said anything nice, her words could infuriate people.”

Shu Yu was a bit startled, hmm… her grandmother seemed to be that kind of person too? Criticizing with words, but her actions were completely contrary.

It’s no wonder she and Old Mrs. Liu could become friends, wasn’t it because they were kindred spirits?
