The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1495: Chapter 1495: Old Master Miao Recommends a Shopkeeper

When everyone memorized it, Daniu pointed to the last two sentences and asked, ”Is the shop opening on the first day of September?”

”Yes, there’s more than half a month left. That’s enough time for the jingle to spread throughout the streets and alleys. Besides, the first of September is a good day to open.”

That’s true. The last time she went to Dongqing Temple, she happened to hear someone asking about auspicious days, and she overheard Daoist Nun Qiu talking about it.

However, that person chose the seventh of September because it was an even better day, but it coincided with Lanhua’s wedding. Not to mention Shu Yu, even Daniu, being her brother, wouldn’t miss it.

So they chose the first of September, which is also a good day.

”Alright, then let’s prepare to open on the first of September.” Daniu said excitedly, ”What does the lottery mean?”

”It’s just an event to get our name out on the first day. We’ll set up a lottery stand at the door, and the more you spend, the more chances you get to win. As for the prizes, I’ll think about what would be appropriate to offer.”

This is good. Other promotions aren’t as attention-grabbing as a lottery.

They don’t even need to buy anything to enter; just checking it out helps spread the word.

With that settled, Daniu will go to the prefecture with Dazhuang tomorrow to spread the jingle and sort out the shop’s later matters. They’ll probably stay in the prefecture for two days.

Luckily, the shop’s backyard is already suitable for living.

Daniu was more concerned about, ”What about the shopkeeper and staff?”

Shu Yu already had an idea, ”I already have someone in mind for the shopkeeper. As for the staff, let’s send Ren Yiping from the county town shop.”

The county town shop doesn’t actually need two staff; we can transfer one to the prefecture.

Both employees were initially selected by Shu Yu, both are quick-witted, efficient, and friendly to customers. Shu Yu is quite satisfied with them, so in just half a year, she’s already given them a raise.

Earlier, Shu Yu had asked them both if either wanted to work in the prefecture.

Ren Yiping decided to go, while the other, called He Sheng, declined because he didn’t want to travel far due to family reasons.

Ren Yiping only has a younger sister at home and has not yet married, so he doesn’t have many attachments. But he does need to earn more money for his marriage and to save a dowry for his sister.

The wages in the prefecture would definitely be higher, and if sales are good, Shu Yu would give bonuses. There’s more wealth in the prefecture, with more opportunities, so Ren Yiping opted for there without hesitation.

As for the shopkeeper, Old Master Miao recommended someone.

A few days ago, Old Master Miao sent her a letter recommending someone.

A man named Wei Ronghua, who is said to be very capable, used to be the shopkeeper of a food store. But that shop’s business conflicted with Old Master Miao’s, and Old Master Miao was not kind to those who blocked his path, naturally taking action against them.

However, even though this person was a competitor, Old Master Miao admired his talent and drove him out of his old shop, intending to recruit him to work in his own shop.

But Wei Ronghua didn’t like Old Master Miao’s ways and felt his business wasn’t legitimate, so he refused firmly.

Old Master Miao, ashamed and enraged, felt Wei Ronghua was ungrateful and forced him to leave the prefecture.

Old Master Miao didn’t know where he went afterward. But a few days ago, when he visited Donggu County, he saw Wei Ronghua again.
