The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1453: Chapter 1453: Doctor Xu Comes Visiting

”Doctor Xu?” Shu Yu stepped forward a few paces, watching the person who had just alighted from the carriage speaking with the gatekeeper.

Doctor Xu heard the voice, turned his head, and promptly smiled, ”Lady Lu.”

”Doctor Xu, are you here to see me? Is there something you need?” Shu Yu was quite surprised. Although she collaborated with Doctor Xu in selling scar removal cream, due to her numerous commitments and frequent absences from Jiangyuan County, opportunities to meet him were rare.

The most recent encounter was during the New Year, when she visited Doctor Xu to pay respects and incidentally reviewed the accounts and collected her share from the scar removal cream.

Doctor Xu generally doesn’t leave the medical practice. Although the business at the practice is mediocre, he prefers to stay inside drinking tea. Thus, his visits to the Lu family are infrequent, the last being during Shu Yu’s coming-of-age banquet over a year ago.

Now, during non-festive times, his sudden visit greatly puzzled Shu Yu, making her think he had something urgent about the scar removal cream business to discuss.

So she hurriedly led him inside, ”Come in, Doctor Xu, let’s talk.”

Who would have guessed that after rounding the screen wall, Doctor Xu said, ”I’m here to see Doctor Zhao.”

Shu Yu halted her steps, ”Looking for my brother-in-law?”

She said with some difficulty, ”But my brother-in-law is not at home today; he’s gone to the workshop outside the city.”

As the workshop there deals with food production, the number of staff is increasing, and it’s relatively far from the county town, with no doctors around.

Thus, Zhao Xi, as Shu Yu’s external consultant, occasionally visits the workshop to check on the staff’s health and conduct food safety inspections.

However, this is rather troublesome. Fortunately, there’s a staff member at the workshop who understands a bit of medical skill, as his father used to be a physician in the village. Although his medical skills are not very good, at least this staff member knows some medical basics.

Zhao Xi simply taught him the fundamentals, so he can handle less severe illnesses.

Shu Yu feels it’s quite practical, as many things are inconvenient due to the location of the workshop. Once expanded, she plans to set up a small infirmary inside and prepare common medicinal herbs.

Then, when staff have minor ailments like headaches or colds, they won’t need to run to the county town or randomly find an unreliable physician in nearby villages.

Anyway, the physician in Shangshi Village, who previously treated Lu Erbai’s leg with a hastily prescribed cream that almost rendered his leg entirely useless, left her with a very bad impression.

As the boss of the workshop, the health of the staff is also her concern.

Today happens to be the day Zhao Xi goes to the workshop.

Originally, Shu Yu was also supposed to go. She had been away from Jiangyuan County for a month and a half, and always needed to check on the workshop. But knowing about Ding Yuehua’s situation, she went to see Ding Yuehua first.

Doctor Xu frowned slightly, ”Not at home?”

He looked at Shu Yu, his face carrying a hint of hesitation.

Shu Yu was amused, as she had never seen Doctor Xu with such an expression. The Doctor Xu she had interacted with before was straightforward, saying whatever was on his mind, without regard to whether it was pleasant or unpleasant, as long as he was clear.

Now he showed a somewhat embarrassed look, and the embarrassment was directed at her?

Shu Yu thought for a moment and smiled, ”Doctor Xu, come in and have a seat. If it’s convenient, you can tell me.”

”I actually wanted to discuss with you. I’m not familiar with Doctor Zhao; I came to the Lu family hoping you could help make an introduction.”

Doctor Xu and Shu Yu had a business partnership and understood each other quite well, thus he trusted her.
