The Ace Bigshot Becomes A Farmgirl

Chapter 1457: Chapter 1457: Meng Yunzheng Wants to Recruit Master Wen

Old Doctor Zhao and Ah Ning arrived home after noon. Upon hearing that Zhao Xi was discussing the opening of a medical clinic with Doctor Xu, he immediately got back on the carriage, leaving Ah Ning to enter the house by herself.

Before leaving, he added, ”You should discuss the Tan Family’s matters with your second sister. Master believes you can explain it clearly.” With that, he excitedly went to find someone to express his opinion on the matter of opening a medical clinic in cooperation with his apprentice.

Although he had little experience, he still carried significant influence.

Ah Ning’s small figure stood at the door, watching the departing carriage with a worried sigh, carrying her small bundle as she circled around the screen wall.

Shu Yu was now in the study, discussing the affairs of the academy with Meng Yunzheng.

The Black Market Manor that Meng Yunzheng purchased had not been fully renovated, nor had it been officially transferred from Old Master Miao, but the initial preparations needed to be slowly organized.

For instance, after the academy was established, the situation of teachers and enrollment in the academy.

Such a large academy, even if it’s built from scratch, couldn’t possibly be managed by just Meng Yunzheng as both Mountain Master and teacher.

The first person he considered was Master Wen.

Master Wen was already well-known in the county town, had discussions with Meng Yunzheng about academics, and their exchanges were very pleasant and familiar.

With Master Wen’s good character, Meng Yunzheng wanted to recruit him.

In addition, there were other well-learned scholars who did not enjoy the constraints of the court. Meng Yunzheng had a few candidates in mind, but such people were scattered across the country, and with his current status as a Scholar, he wasn’t qualified enough.

He would have to pass the Advanced Scholar exam to have the confidence to negotiate.

This matter wasn’t urgent; first, he needed to secure Master Wen and start the Enlightenment Class.

Today, he had come to Shu Yu with an idea and wanted to hear her opinion.

”Are you saying that you want to buy out the entire stretch of land from the mountain top to our sunflower field?”

The manor wasn’t far from the mountain top, but there were four li of land in between. Even if the sunflower field took up two li between the manor and the mountain top, there would still be two li of land.

Though part of it was barren, it indeed had owners, and there were many landowners.

If Meng Yunzheng wanted to buy it, he would have to persuade each family individually.

This was similar to modern-day relocations and would require a significant amount of money, and there might be stubborn holdouts.

The workshop of Shu Yu was not far from there, and anyone slightly clever could see that the area was bound to develop in the future, and with that, the land price would undoubtedly rise as well.

Shu Yu rubbed her forehead. For a moment, she felt like she was lifting a stone only to drop it on her own foot because it was she who had driven up the land price.

Meng Yunzheng laughed, ”I’ll handle these matters. Sometimes, it doesn’t necessarily require money, offering certain benefits can achieve the same purpose.”

”So, you have a plan in mind? But why are you buying that piece of land?”

”For peace.”

Shu Yu made a questioning sound, ”Hm?”

Meng Yunzheng said, ”We both have plans. I want to expand the academy, and you want to expand the workshop and sunflower field, and coincidentally, they’re in the same place. That piece of land in the middle will inevitably attract attention and be bought. It’s unsuitable for growing crops and is likely to have houses built on it. At that time, with all sorts of people mixed in, it won’t be good for either of us.”

Shu Yu nodded, ”Indeed.”
